Degrees of My House
CHAPTER 143

🌹HAPPY READING🌹

The dawn is approaching. The dawn prayer at the Hospital Mosque calls every Muslim to carry out his duty. So too with Sofia. The woman instantly woke up when 'Allahuakbar' echoed throughout the Hospital.

Sofia carefully wakes up and pulls the wheelchair next to her bed. Get off the bed slowly and sit in a wheelchair. Sofia pushes her wheelchair into Kevin's bed to wake her husband up.

With one call Kevin woke up from his sleep. "You take ablution first, Mas. Let me build Abah" said Sofia.

"Yes dear," replied Kevin in a typical wake-up voice.

Kevin stood up and walked slowly to the bathroom, while Sofia to Kiyai Rozak's bed.

Sofia smiled looking at Kiyai Rozak's very peaceful face. "It's quiet and good sleep" Sofia murmured.

Chilly.

That was what Sofia felt when her hand touched the skin of Kiyai Rozak's hand.

"Change," said Sofia softly while shaking Kiyai Rozak's body.

"Change, get up," Sofia said again with a voice that had vibrated.

Trying to calm down, Sofia brought her index finger closer to Kiyai Rozak's nose to check whether Kiyai Rozak was still breathing or not.

Sofia's cry broke as her hand did not feel Kiyai Rozak's breath.

"Innalillahi Wainnailaihi Raji'un, hyks" said Sofia with tears flowing down her cheeks.

Kevin who just came out of the bathroom was shocked to see Sofia who was already crying on her wheelchair while hugging Kiyai Rozak's body.

"Darling, why?" ask Kevin gently.

"Mas, Abah," said Sofia pointing at Kiyai Rozak.

Kevin approached and checked Kiyai Rozak's pulse. "Innalillahi wainnailaihi Raji'un" muttered Kevin.

"Mas, Abah, hiks," Sofia's cry broke out in Kevin's arms.

"Patient, yes. This might be best for Abah. We just pray, yes," said Kevin persuaded Sofia.

"Why didn't Abah wait for us, Mom? Why did Abah leave without our permission?" sofia said crying.

"Honey, soul mate, death and sustenance are God's business. No one knows about all of that. We can only be sincere, dear," said Kevin.

Sofia's cry grew louder and woke them all up, including the one in Dee's room.

Now they were all around Kiyai Rozak's bed. At first they are surprised to see Dee who is awake and Dee's state who can't see. But Ibra explained it so well that they all understood.

Al who saw Uminya had realized there was a sense of pleasure and sadness. Pleased with Uminya's consciousness, and sad because Uminya could no longer see him. And so is Kina.

"Nobody knows the exact time Abah left, Doctor. But I found out earlier when I wanted to wake Abah for the Fajr Prayer. But Abah was like this, hyks," Sofia explained when the doctor asked Kiyai Rozak when he breathed his last.

Kevin rubbed Sofia's trembling shoulders. Trying to give his wife some peace. Zahra was crying in Agam's arms. They all look sad. Kiyai Rozak left without their knowledge.

As he looked at Kiyai Rozak's face, Ibra's eyes unintentionally saw the paper tucked under the fruit basket.

They all shook their heads. Ibra walked over and took the paper. With certainty Ibra's hand opened the fold of the paper.

"This is a letter to all of us" Ibra said as she looked at the contents of the paper.

"Random, Ib," said Kevin.

Ibra nodded and read the contents of the letter.

For All My Family

For my son Sofia, I'm sorry if Abah left first. Abah's time in the world is over, now is Abah's time to visit the afterlife. Sofia my son, always pray for Abah, yes. For your prayers will lead Abah to the Paradise of Allah.

To my son-in-law Kevin, I have two very precious women in my life. Please love Sofia and always guide her to be a good teacher to you. Love Zahra as your child, educate her to be a good and firm child like her Mother and also sincere like her Umi. If he's guilty later, scold him. If you don't love her, please take care of her, because I'm no longer there if you want to give her back. Please take care of them for me.

Zahra Grandpa's. Growing up to be a good boy, son. Be a Sholeha woman like Mother and Umi. Be a filial child for parents. So a good sister to Brother Zahra. So a good sister is also to Zahra's sister, Kina. Sorry if Grandpa can no longer teach Zahra to teach, but believe me, Brother Zahra will do that for Zahra.

For Mr. Wijaya and Ibra, forgive my selfishness that makes you destroyed. Im sorry.

As for Al and Kina, I'm sorry for making you receive such deep wounds. To Al, thank you for the sincerity you have given me, son. Your sincerity eases my path to heaven. Thank you so much for your great heart, Al.

And for Dee, the woman who was so hurt by my mistake. Thank you for every apology you have received, son. Thank you for all the good teachings you gave your children so they have such a big heart. Until the sincerity they finally gave along with the apology received. Son Dee, you have freely accepted God's destiny. You accept the shortcomings that God has given you sincerely, son. For that, I give my vision to you, son. Please take care of my gifts. May this lessen a little of the sins I have committed against you, son. Please accept my gift. I'd be disappointed if you refused.

My hands are no longer able to write, sorry if this writing is bad. My chest is getting tighter. And one more message for Al, if you visit my grave, please call me Grandpa, son.

This is the letter that Ibra read. Sofia's cry broke even more after hearing the contents of her Abah letter. So did Dee. He did not expect that Kiyai Rozak was so good at donating his corneas.

Ibra approached Dee and hugged the woman. "All is the way of God, dear," said Ibra.

"Dee, please accept my Abah's gift and take good care of it, Dee" Sofia cupped both hands to her chest.

Dee looked in any direction. "Thank you, honey. Maybe this is God's way" said Ibra whispering into Dee's ear.

Hearing Ibra's words, Dee nodded her head to no one.

"Good, Ma'am. I will take care of him and take care of him. Thank you," Dee said with a cry.

Afterwards Ibra immediately asked the Doctor to do an eye donor for Dee. With all the preparations in his steps, Dee finally regained her sight through a path they never expected at all.

Oh God, you are so fair. Your story path is very unexpected, O God. In an instant you gave us both joy and sorrow. May Abah find happiness by your side, O Allah. It turns out that true, sincerity is a powerful remedy for all liver diseases. Thank you, O God. Sofia said in her heart.

Although Kiyai Rozak left, but he can still feel the existence of his Abah through Dee. Indeed, God's scenario is very unexpected. In the blink of an eye, the joys and sorrows can come at the same time.
