23. NeverMinds

Ever since that night, Lea doesn't really care about anything Val does. Moreover, when her husband just returned from work, usually, Lea will make a warm drink or whatever to welcome Val. But not this time. It's just cold and indifferent. Maybe that's what Lea's been offering.

"Have you eaten?" val's asking broke the silence.

"You just eat first! I'm losing my appetite!"

"Hile! Please, don't hurt yourself!"

"No! I don't want to eat!" reject firmly. Leah could not even direct her eyes to see her husband.

Slowly, Val came out of the room after changing clothes and headed to the dining table to follow the family's routine activities.

Along the connecting hallway that will take him to the family room, Val just put on a flat face filled with regret. She was afraid that Lea would leave the house and not want to come back after knowing everything.

Rubbing the nape of the neck at a glance, Val is shocked when Veyly suddenly appears and inevitably stops Val's steps. The two ended up circulating a view on a stretch of rainforest from the hallway window.

"You're having trouble with Lea?" tanya Vey opened the conversation.

Val nodded faintly, biting his lower lip in doubt. As if he wanted to hide the problem he was carrying with anyone.

"He knows what happened to me and Henny!" val said slowly while smiling bitterly in a head bow and creeping fingers that were in the sweep of the air.

The atmosphere returned silent for a moment, until the sound of rain spots again filled the ear cavity. Adding to the sad atmosphere in the frozen heart of Val.

"I told him to go back to his parents!"

Vey was surprised, he was widened with perfectly round eyes. He did not know if the sister would do things that make Henny angry later.

"You know what you're doing?!" ketus Veyly's.

A nod and eye link he gave Veyly.

"It's the only way to keep them both safe!"

"And you're gonna lose yourself!" suhut Vey quickly.

Val shrugged his shoulders, he knew the consequences of what he said. Even if he had to disappear, blending in with the wind, he would. Because he doesn't want to lose—

"You love Lea?"

Val's smile came back on the tip of his lips.

"You shouldn't have to put feelings on that girl! You guys are different, and of course he's just the redeemer of all—"

"I'm tired! I've lived too long in the shackles of a life that I don't even know what it's going to end like, brother! I'm really tired!"

Vey even ran out of words for the statement Val said.

Perhaps, his sister was in a state of turmoil and unable to think clearly, until she subconsciously told him everything possible, Veyly thought.

"For so long, I thought living like this was fun! Have a long life, blend with humans and also live without any shortcomings!"

A deep breath coming out of Val's cauldron. Sounds full of frustration.

"But everything became faint when I got to know Lea! You know, I'm the cause of all this mess! So, I'll make up for it myself!"

"Val—"

"Please keep this a secret from anyone, including Nana and Leah!"

Val doesn't even know what to do now. Getting everyone involved because of the mistakes he made in the past made him feel like the worst person. And Val wants to make up for it all by himself, not anyone, let alone Lea. The woman he could not deny so much had filled his heart.

Vey patted Val's shoulder at a glance. "If you don't give up one of the most precious things you have, to her! Or you'll completely disappear!" Then walk ahead. Leaving Val in a gritty, lyrical life story that he wouldn't even expect if he was part of the scenario.

Val took a step back to catch up with Veyly who had disappeared at the intersection of the hallway and went down the stairs to the family room. Val turns around to stare back down the hallway behind her back, hoping that Lea really doesn't come out of the room and hears her secret conversation with Veyly.

On the other hand, behind a sturdy building wall, Lea's bead shimmered straight when she heard Val's words that even wanted to save her.

A few minutes earlier, Lea had indeed rejected Val's dinner invitation. But he abandoned his intentions and planned to follow Val. Until, the surprising thing he heard accidentally. Even Val and Vey can't feel Lea around them, because Lea is special.

Leah walked back to the room with very weak steps. He even had to go back to swallowing the bitter pill, a reality.

"You will continue to live as a punishment for hurting me and upsetting me Val! You have to stay alive to see how I'm going, so you know what it's like to have your heart hurt!" Lea shed tears until the door of the room was successfully passed, Lea muttered again. "—and also, you have to take care of our child when I really can no longer take care of him! Yep! You have to do and accept all of that, so you know what it's like to lose someone you love so much!"[]
