Dad, I Want to Go Home

Dad, I Want to Go Home
23. Didn't Like

The ripples of river water flowed clear between the rocks of various sizes scattered along the river flow. Rachel lowered her feet in the river puddle while her buttocks were still sitting on a ceper rock where she always washed her clothes first.

Now the house built not far from the river bank looks very good even impressed luxurious because the building model follows a minimalist style. The items in the house were all electronic, including washing machines, so they no longer needed to wash in the river.

Rachel was engrossed in playing her phone while soaking her legs. Without realizing it, from earlier there was a handsome young man who noticed it while recording his own fun action watching a romantic movie on his cellphone.

Not long after Rachel's phone rang, Rachel had to see a call from a number she didn't know. Because he had changed his contact number because he did not want to deal with anyone including his two best friends Mia and Weni.

"Whose number is this?" rachel asked hesitantly swiping the green button to receive the call. Rachel deliberately silenced him because she felt that there was a prankster or a misconnected phone that was contacting her.

"Sorry...! I don't know you" Rachel said, blocking the contact number. Rachel went back to watching her favorite movie that had paused. Not long after, someone greeted her from behind her back making Rachel flinch.

"You dare not pick up the phone from me, huh?" the man's snatch left Rachel in shock.

"Versus...!" rachel murmured softly with her heart almost dislodged.

Rachel was so afraid to turn her face to see her fiance. Because his return to his village without saying goodbye to Devan because his heart is still not so recovered after he was humiliated by Melisa's secretary.

"Still there and don't want to welcome me, hmm?" devan asked and then embracing Rachel's shoulder from behind the girl's back made Rachel a little careless.

"Take me off Devan. This is a village not a city" Rachel said, looking around the river and fortunately it was safe.

"Leave it. At most they will catch our wet and tell us to get married quickly" Devan said lightly.

"Let go Devan! I don't want to be treated like this!" rachel's snatch was so wrathful that Devan was stunned.

Just this time Devan heard Rachel's voice so high in front of him. Devan's facial complexion changes completely with his guts look shrill not because of fear of snapping Rachel but Rachel's gentle attitude that he had been polite changed drastically to him.

Devan doesn't say much anymore even one word he doesn't say to ask his fiancee. Seeing Devan's silent attitude made Rachel also become bristled. Devan immediately stood up and stepped foot leaving Rachel with a very disappointed feeling to Rachel.

Rachel wanted to stop Devan's steps but her voice seemed to be stuck with a tongue that was so confused with her guilt for making Devan disappointed in her.

"Leave it like that. He better not choose me as his wife. It was much better than being with me would make him and his family would be ashamed of marrying the daughter of a mad mother," Rachel's inner self comforted.

Rachel went back to her house. Her feelings suddenly went blank as if someone was forcing her to cry." I can't be sad. I have to be strong. I want to serve in my village. My homeland. I want to take care of a madman in this crazy hospital in town," said Rachel.

Rachel opens the fridge and pulls out groceries for her to cook for lunch - she and her father and also the two workers who help her at her house even though both of them are not staying over. The maid is still her close relative Rachel.

Rachel finished her work and called her father to lunch with him.

"Dad. Let's eat first!" pinta Rachel while holding her father's arm towards the dining table.

The two sat together and Mr. Lukman stared at his daughter's moody face." What's up, son? you seem to be sad. Is there a problem with Nak Devan?" ask Lukman.

"Dad don't expect too much on my relationship with Devan because we don't seem to have a match in any way" said Rachel.

"For the affairs of a soul mate, dead, alive and others, all return to God. If Devan is indeed your soul mate as much as you avoid him because of social status he will be yours but as close as he makes you happy otherwise the soul mate will be separated also because the process of living to mature humans will be experiencing a phase of heartache then grieving and God willing in the end happy," said Mr. Lukman full of wisdom.

"Dad. I was so afraid to dream. I was afraid that if I got into Devan's life, people would insult him for marrying me" Rachel said.

"Son. Are you ashamed of being with Devan because of your mother's pain?" ask Lukman.

"It's not dad's shame. More precisely I don't want Devan and his mother to suffer because they are not ready to be insulted because I'm the daughter of a mad mother" said Rachel.

"Do you think God is unfair to you? do you doubt the greatness of God who will silence their mouths for daring to insult you?" asked Lukman while looking at his daughter's sad face.

"No dad. I'm sure God won't stay silent to see someone else wrong Rachel" Rachel said.

"Then what else is the burden on your mind? while God has chosen your soul mate for you, Devan. Devan will lift your degree. He will protect you from spiteful humans. They're just using your circumstances to take Devan away from you. Seeing you lose and give up because that's what they want" Lukman advised his daughter.

Rachel seemed to gain strength when she heard good advice from her father. He got up and hugged his father.

"Thank you dad. I will try to get rid of my pessimistic feelings in our relationship. Rachel loves daddy. God turns out God gave Rachel instructions through the father's mouth said Rachel full day.

Both of them enjoyed their lunch full of enjoyment. Rachel looks happy after getting a message from her biological father. Well, by confiding to the father Rachel felt that her father was also a man who had the same thoughts when viewed from the position of Devan.

That's why Mr. Lukman really understands what his daughter is thinking since returning from Jakarta and is more pensive.

"Have you run away from her, Rachel? does son Devan not know the return to the village, son?" ask Lukman.

"Yes dad. Rachel ran away from Devan," said Rachel, looking guilty..
