Chapter 2: The Substitute Groom

Caitlin fell silent and looked at herself in front of the mirror wrapped in a beautiful wedding dress attached to her body. Today is the day she will marry a man she has not known. Caitlin always asked in her heart if the man who would be her husband was a good man, a responsible man and a man who could love her like his father loved her, or a cruel man as he imagined.

Sad, disappointed, and thousands of feelings raging in his heart. Anyone will feel that way if they have to marry an unloved man, let alone be betrothed. But he did not have much choice because with this he can help his family's company that is falling.

"Caitlin's mama's boy, you're so beautiful in your wedding dress" Natalie said, hugging her beautiful daughter.

"Let's go downstairs, everyone is waiting for you" Simon smiled at Caitlin and grabbed the little girl's hand.

Caitlin smiled and clasped her father's hand, walking out of the room and down the stairs to get to the place where she would meet her future husband. Caitlin's gaze was fixed on a man who was standing with his face so handsome but looks very cold. "Will that man be my husband?' Caitlin asked in her heart.

Not only had Caitlin and her father reached the place of blessing, someone approached them and said that Evan ran away with his lover. Yes, Evan is the man Caitlin is betrothed to. It hurt Caitlin to hear this man's words. Without realizing it, his tears had now escaped to flow on his cheeks.

Now Caitlin was sitting and pensive in front of the mirror, today's events made her very sad and disappointed. But on the other hand he was happy because he did not marry the man he did not know. Evan, the guy's name. Caitlin had only known the name of the man since someone approached her earlier. I don't know what Caitlin is thinking right now, just the mixed feelings she's feeling.

While Caitlin was still busy with her thoughts, the door opened and someone approached her.

"I'm sorry Evan ya Caitlin, we didn't expect that Evan would leave on your wedding day. My heart was very upset when I heard that Evan ran away with his girlfriend" Sarah said, Sarah is Evan's mother.

"Yes that's okay aunt, maybe Evan doesn't want to accept this marriage. So he chose to go with his lover," replied Caitlin smiling and hugging the middle-aged woman in front of him.

Sarah smiled and returned the embrace of her future daughter-in-law."But you don't worry Caitlin, I've come up with a solution to this. Aaron will replace Evan, Aaron will marry you" said Sarah smiled and let go of their embrace.

"What's? Aaron's? Who's aunty?" caitlin was surprised.

"Aaron is Evan's younger brother, he doesn't lose to Evan. He's handsome, nice and I'm sure he can make you happy. All right, then now you're ready and you're going downstairs, right away" Sarah stepped out of the room.

Caitlin's feelings are getting less and less. What does this all mean, Evan the real husband chose to run away on their wedding day. And now he gets word that Aaron's younger brother from Evan is willing to be a substitute bride.

Caitlin walked down the stairs while being held by her father Simon. Now that his marriage is in sight, he will soon arrive at the place of blessing. All eyes were now on Caitlin, the girl was very beautiful in a white wedding dress.

The man welcomed Caitlin's hand that Simon had handed to him. His face was handsome but expressionless. How to be married to a stranger. The man must have felt the way Caitlin felt.

After finishing the blessing, each other said their sacred wedding vows, now Caitlin knows who the man who has officially become her husband. Yes, the man was named Aaron, the man who was willing to replace Evan to become her husband. They also go to the bridal car that will take them to their new home. 

The atmosphere was so silent between them, there was no sound just their breath could be heard. Aaron's facial expression was still the same as before, cold, without a smile plus the look of his face was so flat. Only silence was in their car.

 Caitlin like to say a pleasant word to open a conversation with Aaron, but his intention was to pull back, seeing the cold face of Aaron he was lazy. Never mind to chat, think Caitlin is in the car is impossible.  Caitlin decided to return to enjoy the view through the car window.

Finally they arrived at Aaron's mansion. Both of them went straight into the house. Aaron passed by Caitlin. Caitlin can only keep quiet when Aaron passes by her. In his heart he muttered "marriage like this? There's no reprimand at all in it,"

Meanwhile, Aaron had just finished cleaning himself up. He still did not accept his marriage to the girl he did not recognize. Let alone to greet him, looking at the girl's face even Aaron did not want to. His heart had been frozen because of the betrayal he had experienced in the past. So Aaron doesn't believe anymore in the word "love".

Caitlin soon entered their room. Caitlin kept and tidied up all the items she had brought before deciding to clean up. Sometimes he sees Aaron sitting on a bedside couch busy with his cell phone.

"Do you want me to make you a drink?" asked Caitlin, trying to open the conversation.

"No need! Thank you," replied Aaron coldly.

Caitlin seemed to understand that Aaron did not want to be disturbed. He stepped into the bathroom choosing to clean himself, because today was enough to make him tired. Plus seeing her husband's cold attitude.

After Caitlin finished cleaning herself up, Aaron took a quick glance at her before returning busy with his activities. And it managed to make Caitlin become misbehaved, and Caitlin continued her activities to apply a little makeup on her face.

Tonight is the first night for them, which is the first night most awaited by the brides out there. But what Caitlin felt, tonight was no different from the previous nights. Only difference now she has become the wife of Aaron. Caitlin prefers to go out of the room and down to the family room below.

After Aaron finished his business, Aaron chose to follow Caitlin down with a brown map.

"Hey Caitlin!" aaron said as he hurried over to Caitlin.

"Yes? Can I help you?" caitlin got up from her seat.

Aaron just shook his head, then gave the chocolate map to Caitlin. Caitlin seemed confused and grabbed the chocolate map given by Aaron.

"What's this?" ask Caitlin confused.

"That's a letter of agreement between us, you better read it so you understand," replied Aaron then sat down on the couch and returned busy with his phone.

Agreement letter? What does this mean. Why is there a covenant in marriage. That's what Caitlin thought. Being married to a cold, indifferent man even as if not considering himself alone was enough to make him depressed. Moreover, this is coupled with a letter of agreement. Caitlin's feelings grew more and more unsettled, she felt her heart so broken with what Aaron had done to her.
