CLARA POV
Patrick lay on my bed as I folded the laundry and piled it around him. "read the sentence again, Paddy."
"The house was in the ha . .ha . . . " Paddy scrunched his forehead while concentrating.
"let's say it" I reminded him
"Ha-wai-i"
"yes, it's smart you baby."
Patrick smiled proudly and continued reading. Patrick was diagnosed with dyslexia this year. And to be honest, when Patrick was diagnosed with dyslexia, it really relieved my heart. His teacher didn't know why Patrick couldn't read and some of his schoolwork was hard to do. Finally, I took Patrick to the therapist and the therapist found him.
"All al . . ." Paddy frowning. "Long," he continued.
Jeandra went into the room, she tried to smile.
"what?" I asked while folding.
"i decided to postpone going to college."
I threw a freshly folded towel over the pile. "that's not going to happen."
"yes it can happen. I'm eighteen next month, Mom. I can do whatever I like."
"Jeandra Anderson, you're too smart not to do anything for a year. Mommy doesn't even want to talk about this with you."
"i'm an intern."
I was surprised. "what does that mean?"
"i applied for the job six months ago and made it to the last three candidates."
"what?" I looked at her. "why don't you tell mommy?"
"i don't want mommy to be too hopeful."
I smiled and touched her face with both hands. "Jean, when are you going to stop worrying about mommy?" I continued folding the laundry. "so, when is the interview?"
"i did it."
"what? When?" Clara was surprised again
"a Wednesday, in Sakarya"
I looked at my son. "how did you do it without mommy's care?"
I was confused listening to Jean's explanation. "what do you mean?"
"i interned at Miles' media company."
"you can intern at the media miles company?" Clara gasps.
"yep." yeah." Jean smiled proudly. "Christian Miles is my boss."
Clara rounded her eyes. "what?! No," Clara snapped. "you can't work with her." I threw the towel over the pile forcefully. "forget that!"
"mom, they're the best media company here. It's something big for me to get this opportunity, a lot of people are applying to that company."
"you tried to put the underware in her mouth, Jeandra," I grimaced. "how did you get into that office and feel no shame to yourself?"
"it's okay, I'm sorry, right?"
"No, it's not okay, and it'll never be okay. That's the most embarrassing thing Mommy's ever seen. You can't work there. Mommy forbid you to work there."
"i'll work there!" snapped Jean. "Mommy can't stop me."
"Mommy can and will ban you."
"I can learn from the best people. I want to manage Papi's company someday; they'll teach me how."
"all they're gonna teach you are cruel ways, Jeandra."
"and that's what I want to learn."
I glared at Jeandra. "you call Christian Miles now and ask him to keep doing his job and not to bother us." I'm so mad at Chris for doing this without my knowledge.
He should have called me to tell me the interview.
Ever since he met my kids, I haven't heard from him. Not that I want it, but anyway that's the principle. And now, Chris didn't call me but he offered my son a job for a bad reason because he's a coward who hates kids? She was so sexy in front of me and came home, and after meeting my children. . . Booms. Cold as ice.
The handsome guy I met in France wasn't the cold guy who lived in Jakarya. He's different. The man I admire in France, the man I hate in Jakarya.
I didn't want Chris to be close to Jeandra, and I didn't want Jeandra to learn business ethics from her.
I fold the towel forcefully. Besides, I don't care about Christian. It's not that I want something, but he's clearly weakening my ego. I know she's very smart, and I know that Jean's Papa will support this. But Christian is a cold and calculating man in the business duina. I don't want Jeandra's first position with Christian. Jeandra is very impressionable, and I don't want Jean to think that the ruthless Christian Company is normal. I see disaster coming.
"i started working Monday." snapped Jeandra.
"over my de4d body."
