Chapter 5 Eye Stroke

After getting a referral to visit an ophthalmologist, Andri drove his wife Renita to PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital. Renita had previously authorized the Rector not to enter, on the grounds that he was checking in at the RS. Fortunately the Rector allowed it, so that the woman could be in PKU Hospital.

“Mistress Renita.. queue number seven. please log in.” Suddenly Renita's name is called inside by

duty officer.

“Mama alone yes, no need father friend.” Andri said to his wife, and feeling no pain, she went into the room.

“Assalamu aleikum Dok..” noticed there was a middle-aged doctor sitting behind the table, Renita greeted the doctor.

“Wa alaikum greetings, enter mbak and sit in that chair.” The doctor immediately asked the woman to sit down.

Renita immediately followed the doctor's direction, a nurse came to Renita and checked the pressure

the blood of that woman.

“160/110, you know how high Mom. Must be careful.” nurses comment on the results of the check

that blood pressure.

“Iya mbak is common. because the offspring of parents, both of whom suffer from high blood. Even my father

died of stroke.” Renita answered the nurse's comment.

“What is mbak complaining about?” suddenly the Priest Doctor asked Renita.

“My eyes hurt Doc. Then on the eyebrows it feels sore, like there is wood running across it.

Sometimes until ga nahan dokt. feel the pain.” Without covering up what she felt, Renita told what she had been suffering.

The priest doctor took out a small device like a flashlight, then highlighted both of Renita's eyes. A few minutes, doctor

it looks like looking at the results of the examination.

“Suster.. prepare Non-contact tonometry, to measure the patient's eyeball pressure!” without telling the results

the examination, the Priest Doctor instead asked the nurse to prepare equipment to measure the patient's eyeball pressure.

Hearing the equipment called by the Doctor, Renita's heart was pounding. Not long after, Renita

asked by the Doctor to bring her face closer, and Non-contact Tonometry equipment was seen in front of her. A cold gel is applied to the Sister to remove inflammation due to radiation from the equipment. After a while..

“Mbak Renita's.. This hospital can not handle eye disease suffered by mbak Renita. So I will refer

mbak Renita to RSUP Dr. Sardjito yes. Only that RS in Jogja has the equipment.” Suddenly the Priest Doctor explained the results of his examination.

“I am sick what Dokt.. is Katharak or others.?” Renita immediately chased after the doctor to tell

what he suffered.

“More than that all mbak, even more dangerous than katharak. Therefore RS PKU does not have the equipment, later RS Sardjito which will explain in more detail after further examination. And please be patient, usually at the Hospital the queue is very long, can be until the afternoon.” while writing a referral letter, Doctor Imam explained to the woman.

Renita could not think long, the woman could not control her emotions. When the Doctor

handing over the referral letter, and the woman walked out of the room, Renita was unable to speak.

“What is mam... What hurts?” with a lot of worry.., Andri asked about the illness

his wife.

Renita was unable to answer, the woman simply shook her head with tears rushing in

her cheek. Andri became perceptive, then took the white envelope from the Priest Doctor, then read it at a glance.

Male nurse at RSUP DR. Sardjito was stunned, having been repeated up to three times but Renita's blood pressure

not detected. The condition often occurs, because the engine is damaged, or because of the high blood pressure of patients. Once again, the nurse patiently tested the blood pressure again.

“Mbak Renita is currently feeling panic, or was-was-was.?” with a slow voice, and patient intonation of the nurse

he asked carefully to Renita.

“Iya mas. to be honest I am still deg-degan. I was the same Dr. Imam at PKU Muhammadiyah

it said if my eye disease was already very terrible, until the RS was not able to handle patients. Finally I was referred here mas.” with a sad face, Renita conveyed his anxiety.

“It's worth mbak.. blood pressure mbak currently 200, so until I repeat many times. Just let go mbak, please,

what is important is that Renita has made efforts for the disease that is currently felt. For problems of results, leave all to the provisions of Allah, the Most Healing.” in a soft voice, the nurse who still looks young calms Renita.

Hearing the words of the male nurse named Handoyo, a speck of hope appeared in Renita's heart. He has forgotten Allah, the All-Reverend, and the All-Everything. Slowly Renita became a little calm, and Andri rubbed his wife's back lovingly.

“Thanks for Handoyo..” Renita says.

“Sama-sama has become my duty, the queue is very long mbak. But pa pa pa pa pa, later mbak me

just slip it, to quickly get the handling.” Say Handoyo while entering the file for the initial check on the woman's health.

Andri invited his wife to find a seat, and it turned out that there were many patients waiting

turn to be called in. Most patients are old.  Renita was among those who had a young age of her own, among the patients in line.

Not long after, Renita's name was called. Andri smiled, as Handoyo proved her words, the young man helped slip Renita's name in the queue, so they didn't wait so long. Andri accompanied Renita into the examination room, and saw one old doctor, accompanied by many co-assistant doctors were doing the examination.

“Mbak Renita was already done eye pressure test yes. Now the retina will be scanned. Please enter the room next to the initial examination room, eye scanning will be done there.” A young doctor gives a referral to Renita.

“Good Doctor.., thank you.” Renita accompanied by Andri immediately stepped out of the room, then while embracing the shoulder of his wife Andri headed to the room beside the check room.

Fortunately there were no patients queuing up in front of the room, so Renita could be directly handled by a doctor. Andri was allowed to enter to accompany his wife, so the two of them immediately went inside. A series of examinations were carried out, and almost the same as at PKU Hospital, Renita was again faced with several medical technology machines.

“Mbak, mas. from the results of scanning, the mother is currently declared to have suffered an eye stroke. But we can't analyze what's causing it yet. Look at the retina, this is blood and fat that comes out to close your eyes.

mbak Renita, so it interferes with some vision.” The doctor began to explain the analysis.

Renita and Andri were surprised, both looking at each other. Looks print out eye examination given the doctor to both of them.

“To ascertain the cause, mbak Renita I gave an introduction to do general Check Up at

laboratory yes. Later from the results of the examination can be re-analysed, and the results are taken to the Nervist doctor for further examination.” The doctor then makes an introduction to general check-ups.

“Oh yes Dokt.. Can I do a check in an outside laboratory?” feeling rather horrified by the appearance of RS

here, Renita asked the Doctor.

“Can be mbak, but I recommend to do in this RS only, because the cost is very expensive. But if using this introduction, and done in this RS laboratory, then mbak Renita will be borne by BPJS Kesehatan.” Doctor suggested.

“Good Doctor.thank you.” say Renita and Andri simultaneously.
