It's been almost a month that Sora and Almeer have been living in a new home. This new couple has no intention of honeymoon. Sora also knows, many demands of Almeer's work must be completed. So, she never demanded her husband to go honeymoon like other newlyweds. She was so grateful that her husband spent so much time on her. Moreover, Sora also demanded her husband to immediately complete the project from Bara. He didn't want to be involved too long with Bara and his family. Especially that woman named Clara.
Almeer spends more time in the office. He returned home later than his usual office hours. But he never came home more than eight o'clock in the night. He did not want to arrive home too late to find his wife was asleep. It would make him feel guilty for not being able to listen to the story of what his life companion did all day.
"I think I'm a great fit for marketing. This month alone, store revenue increased twenty percent from last month, Bie." Sora recounts his success throughout their dinner.
"Alhamdullillah, sweetheart. You have your own advantages. If you have a desire, the spirit is never extinguished before you get what you want." Almeer responded to Sora after finishing chewing the rice in her mouth.
"I know how to waste my youth on those unclear guys! If I had been diligent and focused on learning, my brain would have been able to defeat the banana tree!" groused Sora.
"Whose banana tree, honey?" ask Almeer.
Sora finished his last bribe, "the Sky, he just has a heart. Oom Hengky said, such a person is like a banana tree," he continued with his mouth still full of rice.
"Sky is good, Ra. The only way to show kindness is different" said Almeer.
Sora thought for a moment, he remembered the ugliness more than the kindness of his twin brother.
"In my memory of knowing him, he was a bad person. He's just like you, honestly. If he doesn't like it, he says he doesn't like it. He does what he wants to do, no matter what other people think. Just like he would accept my presence when others judge me for my parents."
Sora folded her hands over the dining table and looked at her husband closely, "are you that close?" ask Sora.
Almeer piled up his plate and Sora's plate which was already empty, then gulped down the remaining water in his glass. "No, we're just often involved in a lot of situations, honey."
Suddenly, he felt annoyed at himself for asking that question. Her memory again provoked her curiosity about what happened between her husband, her brother and a woman named Moza.
Almeer took the two dishes on the table and took them to the dishwasher.
Sora stared at the clock on the middle room wall, it was almost ten p.m. The atmosphere of the house and out there is quiet, Siti must have slept in her room. She stood carrying her drinking water glass to the dishwasher, approaching her husband who was washing the dishes for their dinner.
"What kind of situation?" ask Sora.
"Many, from personal matters to academic, hahaha." Almeer chuckles at his college days with Sky.
"What kind of personal business?" sora asked, he began to investigate. "The moza?" continued.
Almeer nodded, "yes, the three of us were once involved in something complicated at the end of college." Almeer took a glass in Sora's hand and washed it.
"Complicated? likewhat?" scott Sora again.
Almeer finished washing his glass and put it in the glass case and then looked at his wife.
"I wanted to tell you, but that story was bad for Moza. It's a disgrace to him" explained Almeer.
"I want to hear it, Bie!" asserted Sora, this time she really wanted to hear her husband's explanation.
Almeer was doubtful.
"I want to know what's involved with you" urged Sora.
Almeer hugged his wife into the living room and sat down on the sofa.
"Tell me, Bie," Sora asked.
Almeer. "During my college years, I didn't have many friends, sweetheart ...,"
"Because of Papa Hiko's scandal?" guess Sora.
Almeer nodded, "i'm self-conscious as well, which is why I don't get along too much with the people around me. Not everyone can accept my existence. But different from Sky and Moza ...." Almeer laughed a little considering his mass.
"Why?"
"Sky was always upset because no matter what she did, she always got a position on the level below me. At first I knew him was upset by his way of speaking. But, gradually I realized that it was only her reason to talk to me and make friends with me. I know, maybe he feels sorry for me because wherever I go, people talk about my status."
"What about Moza?" ask Sora.
"I don't know exactly when, but the three of us are often in the same group. Moza is an independent woman and also smart. He went to college while working, family problems made him have to live independently with his sister. Sky helped her a lot and I know your brother once expressed his feelings for Moza and Moza immediately rejected him."
"Because Moza loves you?" ask Sora.
Almeer looked at Sora then shook her head, "Not yet, Moza didn't have feelings for me yet. And Sky still fighting for Moza."
"Trus? What gets you guys into a complicated situation?" sora asked impatiently.
Almeer was silent, looking at his wife with the glare of his sharp eyes. "You're gonna believe everything I say, honey?" ask Almeer.
Sora nodded. Although he will be disappointed or hurt, he will try to prepare his heart.
"I feel Moza's attitude towards me has changed since I helped her complete the challenge of eating spicy noodles level. All I remember is it was so spicy that I had to be rushed to the hospital."
"Bec ... Meera told me that once, but it wasn't done yet" Sora said. "Trus trus,"
"Maybe he felt guilty at first, so he had more attention on me. And gradually, she expressed her feelings for me."
"You love her?"
Almeer smiled and covered both of his wife's cheeks, "i've been saying since I met you, you're the only woman I want, dear ...."
Sora smiled and nodded, "sorry, I cut your story a lot, Bie."
Almeer rubbed Sora's still-hooded head, "I refused. She and Sky actually know that I only think of a pretty little girl that I always paint or draw when I have no activities. Little girl, my first love that I never knew her name and origin. And I just found out that he's my friend's twin brother." Almeer laughed
"Should Sky know it was me, dong? or is your picture too ugly so Sky doesn't recognize it?"
"Eitz, haphazard .... Want me to prove my drawing skills?" challenge Almeer.
"I believe I believe," said Sora, "but why was the banana tree spoiled, anyway? Make gemes! If only he had told you that what you drew was his brother, surely we would have met him sooner, Bie."
"Maybe he doubted me" said Almeer.
"Why doubt?"
"I'm continuing our story of complexity, dear."
Sora nodded.
Almeer pulled Sora's hand and held it, "make sure you won't doubt me, dear," Almeer said.
Sora frowned, thinking for a moment but quickly nodded his head.
"That morning I don't know why I was in Moza's room, above her bed ...,"
The deg!
Sora's heart was like it had been hit by something, his face was deathly pale as if a bloodshed had crawled away from part of his face. Sora pulled her hand from her husband's grasp.
"Darling, you should listen to me. It's not what you think it is" Almeer said, grabbing Sora's hand and holding her back.
Sora was still silent with his thoughts. Although he did not want to cry, but a drop of his tears fell without permission to wet his cheeks.
"Don't think anything, honey. Please, listen to my story first ...," Almeer said, his shady eyes begging intensely.
Sora's lower lips trembled, fear painted on the pretty face, "why didn't you tell me from the beginning, Bie?" ask Sora.
"For me this is just a misunderstanding, honey. And this concerns Moza's disgrace" he replied.
"You should have said this from the beginning,"
"I'll say it now, give me a chance not to make you misunderstand,"
Sora nodded, he wiped his tears and momentarily closed his eyes. He took a deep breath, gathering strength to accept the reality of what he was about to receive.
"I'll listen to you, Bie ..." Sora opened her eyes slowly.
"The night before, we spent time celebrating the success of documentary filmmaking with our classmates. Sky didn't come that night, he didn't go anywhere. Before I got home, I found Moza fighting with a man I didn't know. I tried to help him and I got into a fight with that guy. Lucky for some of our friends to come and help me, the man chose to run away." Almeer stopped the story for a moment.
"Come, Bie .. continue," urged Sora.
"Because I was worried about Moza, I drove him home. I rested for a while at Moza's house, my body ached all after a fight. After that I don't remember anything."
"Darling ...." Almeer calmed his wife, "Sabar ..., I'll tell her story."
Sora nodded.
"I woke up not wearing a shirt, dear."
"Astaghfirullah!" Pekik Sora while pulling his hand from the grasp of her husband.
This time the water flowed more than before. His heart was not strong enough to accept this reality.
"Darling ...." Almeer pulled Sora's hand, but the injured woman immediately brushed him off. "Honey .., please listen to me first. I haven't even told you the point yet,"
"I was too scared to hear it, Bie .." Sora replied.
"If you only heard it up here, you'd never believe me in the future, dear."
Sora simply remained silent in her sobs.
"This is why I hesitate to tell you .., although this is a misunderstanding that has been cleared up, it will still hurt you."
"Yes, Bie. My heart hurts so much."
"Darling, by Allah and by my rose, I have never touched another woman but you,"
Sora nodded, "i believe you, Bie. But I can't lie to myself if my heart hurts."
"Therefore, let me finish my story ...," Almeer said.
Sora nodded quickly.
"I was scared then, baby. I didn't find Moza that morning, my mind was upset, I was afraid that I might accidentally touch her. And when I got out of the room, I found your brother there. He heard about Moza that night and then found out about Moza's situation, but he got me out of Moza's room."
"You guys got into a fight?"
Almeer shook his head, "No .., I explained what happened," Almeer replied.
"You didn't ask Moza what happened that night?"
"We haven't seen him since that night, honey. She went somewhere, not even her own sister knew of her whereabouts."
"Then. how—"
"One morning, Sky suddenly hit me in class without me knowing why. And after a few days had passed, Sky told me that Moza was pregnant."
"Cloe's really not your son, is he, Bie?" Sora pulled Almeer's hand.
"I thought at first that way. I know Moza's back home, but he won't see me. If indeed the child in the womb is my son, I will take responsibility and marry him ...." Almeer stopped his story when he saw his wife so devastated.
"I'm sorry for wanting to marry another woman, honey," he said.
Sora nodded, "I accidentally read your letter to Moza, Bie. In Khadijah's book."
"Astaghfirullah .. forgive me, dear. I forgot I still had the letter ...," Almeer looked panicked and felt guilty.
"Why is the letter still with you? Did you never send it? Or did Moza return your letter, Bie?" ask Sora.
"I haven't had time to send it, dear."
"Why?"
"Moza came to me, he explained that nothing had happened between us that night. He told people to take off my clothes because it was dirty and wet when I fell unconscious. And that night he left the house to calm himself for the misfortune that befell him."
"I was relieved to hear it, Bie," said Sora, thinning his lips. "Sky knew the reason?"
"Of course, Moza also explained to Sky everything. He does not want any misunderstanding between me and your brother" replied Almeer. "At first Sky was going to marry Moza, but somehow he abandoned his intentions. And after our meeting with Mr. Bara made me understand why Sky had abandoned his intentions."
"Then, what about Moza? Is she married to the man you were fighting with?" ask Sora.
"I don't know, Bui. We haven't met since then. It has completely disappeared from our lives. I met her once after a few years since our graduation, when she dropped off Cloe at school. Cloe's play group is next to my office. That's why I've met Cloe so often. After a long time of not meeting, our first meeting was at Mina's graduation."
"What about your first name Cloe uses, Bie?"
"It's just a name, everyone has the right to wear it."
Sora's expression still showed anxiety.
"I can take you to see Moza in the morning, he'll explain everything to you, honey."
"He looks like he still wants you, Bie."
"I have nothing to do with his feelings. To me, the only thing that matters to me is our household."
Sora tried to smile even though it was still heavy.
Almeer clung over Sora's shoulders and stared firmly at his wife, "ask all that still makes you doubt, dear."
"You close to Cloe? Do you love him?" ask sora.
"Yes, Honey. Cloe reminds me of a boy named Sagara Almeer,"
"Then, have you ever had feelings of love for Moza?"
"No, it's just sympathy and empathy" Almeer said.
Almeer pulled Sora's body into his arms, "whether you still doubt me or not, but I want to keep you convinced. That Sagara Almeer only loves his wife, he is Kianga Sora."
Sora hugged Almeer's body tightly and nodded quickly, "i believe you, Bie. I believe that,"
"Thank you, sweetheart. And I'm sorry I didn't tell you this in the first place. I don't want you to get hurt like this and I also have to keep Moza's disgrace."
"I've been thinking a lot of things after reading your letter to Moza, and Moza knows you better than I do. Even more so after hearing Cloe's long name is the same as yours,"
"You should have asked me everything, honey."
"I'm too afraid that reality will disappoint me, Bie."
Almeer peeped at the tip of Sora's head, "we're making this a lesson, honey. We have to learn to be open to each other again."
"Yes, Bie."
