WOMEN IN GROUP SHORT STORY
#SP-6

Now the accused is really a Malin. I was amazed by the effectiveness of the manner of shrinkage carried out by the Head of Hamlet. No wonder he continues to be the Head of the Hamlet after so many years.

“Do you have any witnesses to what you saw?” ask the Head of Hamlet to Malin. The man nodded weakly. He felt that it was no longer possible to escape the punishment of the village.

“And you just saw them go up to the ripener!” The head of the Hamlet confirmed again.

Malin was silent and thought. The answer right now is the determinant of the punishment he will receive. If he answers just looking up the roosters as before, then he gets a penalty of spreading false information only. But if he said they were having fun, then it would be a great slander. And he had no witnesses to back up his statement. But, looking at the face of the city man who looked as calm as water in the bottom, made his emotions rise.

He looked towards Reno. Now he regretted hurriedly taking the third wife. It should be that sweet black girl who became a wife, then her wish was satisfied.

“Jawab!” datuk Soleh was impatient.

“I just saw them ride the roosters,” replied Malin bowed lethargic.

“You nobody saw them do other things?” urged Head of Hamlet. Malin.

“Now we know the suspect. His sentence will be decided at a customary meeting next week. All of you decide the fate of the father of Reno whose actions have killed his own wife!” drop Off Head Hamlet.

The audience murmured boisterously. Thinking of the punishment that would be accepted by Malin and Mr. Reno.

“Now we clear this confusing news first. You, Farhan. Tell me what happened exactly!” ask Datuk Soleh.

The people of the city were alternating and I explained the truth in the meeting. Now everyone understood what was happening in that parak. A new issue emerged when the show broke up.

“That Reno said has a point. If the farm tool is used by the Angku owners of rice fields, then we will lose our jobs!” The farm workers came home with broken hearts.

After all disbanded, Datuk Soleh still lectured the students there. As it passed, all I heard was, “. This is a remote village. Can't just talk alone with the women, if you don't want to be slanderous!”

“Iya, Datuk ...” They chant in unison, like a choir.

In Surau, we were three sisters, teaching for a while before going to bed.

“You're going to find where you're running!” said Uda Asrul furiously.

“Most also go home grandma!” the Timpal Sayid ketus.

“Leave it. Reno told me Datuk Soleh. The punishment of our family is to expel him from here. Don't let him enter this village again,” I said.

“But, if there are no sanctions, he will definitely come again,” my brother said.

“Let's add a request to Datuk Soleh. If he comes, we'll call the police for his actions!” said furious.

“Uda, now we have no home. How's the exit?” tanyaku.

“What would you like to join Uda to the city? But you can't work chopping rice anymore, ..”.

I see Uda Asrul is worried. I know that his own life has been difficult. Plus his two younger siblings, it would definitely be unthinkable for him to have to endure the two of us this quickly.

“We rent the land of the house, for the initial cost of moving Sayid school and living in the city. Already there, Reno will find work,” I said give an idea.

“The idea can be too. But renting the land will not directly come to the tenant. Uda is only this week. Could not take longer off, later Uda lecture failed if too many holidays,” he said.

“If there is a small hut above our house, Reno can stay here with Sayid,” I said listlessly.

“It can also. It's just, what would the people of the village say about Uda. They will sneer, because as a boy Uda did not want to take care of two younger siblings. There are also women who must be protected!”

I feel like this is too much for me to think about tonight. So I didn't answer that conversation again. Each of us slept exhausted by the many events that happened the day before.

During that week, we lived out of the mercy of others. Even so, I did not remain silent. I always go to the rice in the fields that are harvesting. Sayid remains in school, while Uda Asrul takes care of family affairs.

That afternoon someone came to bring my father home. A mother also came to bear witness to his actions that left his wife dead.

When I came home and saw it, I tried to be respectful and kissed her hand.

“When come Uwo,” ask me a pleasantries. He didn't answer.

I can see the acid face water. I never liked their family, because never once came to see what else helped our lives.

That night, a custom meeting in our village was held. All the tribes in the village, have brought their grandfather, to represent. Especially those who are accused and disturbed by the gossip they spread. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Panghulu Basa. The highest grandfather in our village.

Because it was known to anyone who gossiped on the rafters, they were sentenced to each carry five pieces of wooden board to rebuild our house. Fendi had to pay ten pieces of board and five wooden poles.

And Malin gets a tougher sentence. He had to buy five bags of cement and one truck of sand for the floor. If he doesn't want to pay the fine, then he can't come to our village anymore.

All of them bowed. Didn't expect to have to spend that much money because of gossip on the field. Their eyes stared hatefully at Fendi, who threw the news thoughtlessly.

For my irresponsible father, he had to pay a fine for damages because his actions caused the house to burn. That man must pay twenty million!

Pak tuo protested with the magnitude of the figures put forward by Datuk Panghulu Basa.

“My number thinks it's big? All this time Angku's niece did not spend a penny to raise her children! He just lives here! Did Angku ever come and visit my grandson Angku here? Ever give them a little hundred thousand?” sindir Datuk is highly respected in three villages around.

Our Mister Tuo was just putting on a sour look. It is totally irresponsible for her nieces and grandchildren.

“It's new penalty fine house on fire, Angku. Hasn't been a debt he's made all this time because of a gambling freak at horse racing. He last pawned the rice fields and parak Amak the Asrul's legacy! It's the Asrul family's land. Legacy for the Reno! We've, count and ask the man who holds the land. As long as it pays twenty-five million, then the rice fields and land they return!”
