WHEN I FELL IN LOVE

WHEN I FELL IN LOVE
Chapter 35

Two days have passed since the business deal between me, my mother, and Jayadi. I am very grateful to God, because many have ordered the pastries we trade. All because of the tireless work of Jayadi and I tried to offer our products to people we knew, and of course this was all with God's permission.

My mother began compiling a list of ingredients to make a cake on a piece of paper. Yes, understand it, this is a new business, so we have not dared to have a stock of cake ingredients. So be it, we just bought the material when someone ordered it.

When my mother finished writing the list of necessary ingredients, it was now my turn and Jayadi who had to buy them at the pastry shops that we knew gave them cheap prices. And, of all the shops in the city of Bandar Lampung, one of the stores that provide low prices, the goods sold are also quite complete, and the owner is familiar with us is, and the owner is, like, a, cake Sourcing Shop.

Of course there was a sense of reluctance in me to visit the Cake Source store. First, because this was the first time I visited the store after I resigned. And secondlythe real reason— because I know, surely the news of the outfit between me and Jayadi against Erwin, has reached the ears of Mr. Selamet. Not to mention, what should I do? If by any chance Lela was in her parents' shop? I'm honestly not ready to meet him.

There is one more fact that makes me more reluctant to go to the store Source Cake; Mr. Selamet was very fond of Erwin. Of course, maybe all parents will like Erwin. His way of stringing words, clever mince words, often giving compliments, and his calm character, makes him easily liked. What I'm afraid of is, Mr. Selamet hates me and Jayadi, because of the fight that happened in the office.

But it's all just a matter of time. Whether today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, I will definitely come to that place, because indeed the Source Cake shop is one of the best bakery shops in my city. Something very related to the business I'm starting now. So, just think of it as my first test in business.

Jayadi and I arrived at the Source Cake shop around nine in the morning. According to my calculations, at this hour Lela is in the office, brifing with the salesman team. So, I'm pretty sure I won't meet him.

After parking my motorcycle, as usual there was someone calling me from a distance, “Bang Bento!” Yes, Abdul shouted my name. The red pluit hanging from her neck hung left and right as she ran at me. I don't know why I haven't seen this moment in a long time. In fact, only four days ago I met him, when my status was still a salesman.

“How are you bang?” abdul asked, when he was standing in front of me, sambi rubbed the rolling sweat on his forehead using a red handkerchief.

“Good Dul. Well, it feels like we haven't seen each other in a long time? Though, just four days ago,” reply me.

Abdul smiled in response to me, then he glanced at Jayadi. “This is the brother who once came with Erwin mas, right?” ask Abdul to Jayadi.

Then Abdul and Jayadi shook hands. There was one moment that I found funny after Jayadi shook Abdul's hand; he immediately wiped his palm onto the jean pants he was wearing. I know the reason: Abdul's hand must be too wet for him.

But Jayadi's a man who knows the order. Although sometimes his words are rude, but he understands what kind of reaction he has to let out in front of people he does not know too well. Jayadi made a very smooth movement when rubbing his hand to the side of his right thigh area. With that I am very sure, Abdul is not aware of that and he should not be offended either.

“Bang Ben is no longer working with Erwin?” ask Abdul.

From the question, I immediately realized that the news of the commotion in my office had spread everywhere. “Iya, Dul. You know where you're from?” ask her.

“Kemaren kan mba Lela ngebawa new sales here. Yes, introduce to Mr. Selamet,” he replied.

“Then do you know why I got out of my workplace?”

Abdul fell down while scratching his wet head. I saw the reluctance of his face to talk about this. But it made me even more curious, what gossip was circulating in the field about me and Jayadi.

“Yesterday, Bang Boris came here bang, shopping. Well, I know from bang Boris. He told me he had a storm with Erwin mas,” replied Abdul, an answer that made me very relieved, because it turns out he knew news of a dispute in the office from Boris. Boris can't talk about me, at least he's talking about the real thing.

Then, the events after that made my heart more relieved. When Mr. Selamet called my name from inside the shop. I went straight to Abdul, then immediately stepped inside the store—Jayadi followed me from behind. Mr. Selamet walked up to me when I had just entered the store, then he embraced me, like a friend. The incident that made me shiver.

In the store, Mr. Selamet had said, “Lela has told me what happened in the office.” Then he also said that Boris had come to buy a few kilos of flour, and explained the story of what happened in the office. From the expression and speech issued by Mr. Selamet, I can guess that he received the correct information. There were not a few words he said, which seemed to blame me and Jayadi. Even when I told him about the business I was starting with Jayadi and my mother, Mr. Selamet welcomed him with great enthusiasm, and was willing to give a cheaper price than he usually sold. It didn't feel good to me, especially when he said, “reply, Ben. You have helped Lela get into the company, and you also taught her until Lela now mastered her job.” I swear to God, I never remember that as a kindness. I did all of that sincerely, unconditionally. So I was a little offended when Mr. Selamet snubbed him. But of course, my views were a little different to her, so I was lazy to argue or refute her words.

One thing I have to emphasize here. Everything I've done for Lela, I did it sincerely. There was not the slightest bit in my mind to get a reply. Whatever it is.
