Watch out Chicken

Watch out Chicken
chapter 8

While many items will not look out of place in ancient China, exchange is not one of those features. Or at least I think it looks strange. A building where all the merchants gathered, like some sort of ancient mall? I was expecting the market the last time I came here, not this .

But I think faster travel in the form of Artifacts, and communication in the transmission stone could make something like this possible.

Shaking my head, I continued my business. First, was the Heavenly Feather Tan Gong. It was a very majestic name for a man who dealt with mortal furs. But it's none of my business. There was a small line of people selling things. Some people were yelled at for poor quality, while some completed their transactions quickly.

The man sitting behind the booth and wearing the uniform met me with a frown on his face.

“Ugh. Other land farmers . Yeah, yeah, boys. Quick. I'm sure you think your skin is worth buying by our Heavenly Feathers company, but we have strict standards– said I!”

I, of course, ignored his speech, and bought his skin. His eyes widened, and he gulped.

Hey, figure xianxia is in good shape today. Now he apologizes for his haste and ********** his hand, and calls me “Good Master”. I guess this is the part where I have to start slapping him in the face, but I really don't care.

Whatever dude, you practically drooled because of my stuff, you want to buy it or not?

Of course, I completely shut up with a small smile on my face, and nodded appropriately. Nothing could be gained from insulting some of the rando men guarding the counter–

And now he's buying his manager. Who also called me Good Lord. And make a sound want me to have a contract to supply them.

I refused as much courtesy as possible, and just sold the skin to them.

“If you have other feathers for sale, please think carefully of our Heavenly Feather company!” The two men said and bowed.

Of course I'll “think good” about you, you're the only show in town.

The person who bought my wooden board was much more polite. An Ren is a good guy.

I then went to the store for my own supplies. More sesame oil, sesame seeds, I found a man with wheat, which is a great gift . Oh, my bread, how I miss you. It won't be able to plant it now, because autumn is about to begin, but Besides, more vegetable seeds, a few more barrels, and a few more chickens, he said, and a set of beautiful cast iron pots.

I briefly argued for a pig or a cow, but decided not to do it for now. Gotta build a little better farm I think.

I might be meeting with Meimei soon, so we can read the final potion guide. Today is a good day.

My back was a little itchy, as I stepped into the city again. I scratched it unconsciously.

//////////

Meiling had a good day.

Emphasis on “Have”.

It started off pretty well. Jin has some business to take care of, so he invites Meihua to the city. They had walked together, joined hands, and enjoyed the city together. Meihua had even bought her a beautiful new hairpin, and now, they were sitting down for tea together.

But his sister, except for blood, uttered a foul betrayal.

“So, when did Jin marry you?” He asked in conversation, just as Meiling sipped her tea.

The latest_epi_sodes is on_website.

He choked on his way down, and started coughing.

“A-Eh? No-May-Nev– Meihua !” He gasped, and his friend laughed merrily, a bell-like sound clanking.

He glared at his friend. “Not you too,” she whines, “I'm sick of it from dad! We haven't done anything either, so remove that tofu expression from your face, you vile woman!”

“Oh, but you sneak out at night with him~”

“Meihua, please .” He begged, his face red.

“Alright, I'll stop. All attacks, no defense with you. You like him, don't you?”

Short brown hair. Bright green eyes. That stupid grin .

His lips lifted up to almost smile.

“Oh, dear,” said Meihua, looking at her affectionately, “You fell in love , Meimei. Almost as bad as I am for my dear~”

“Shaddup.” he grumbled, and spent the rest of his tea. Meihua giggled again, but was forced to finish as well, and did not stab her further.

“Come on, I can't deal with you anymore,” Meiling said sourly, but Meihua just smiled understandingly, “Let's take her to your lover–”

There was a sharp smell in the wind, which slid under the smell of the ground he was already accustomed to feeling. Blood and Oil. Something dangerous, slimy, full of evil intentions.

The Qi.

His head was whipped, and he saw the man. Wearing fine clothes, with two men standing on either side. His head began to turn towards her, and he threw away his face.

“Meihua. This way.” Meihua noticed her discomfort, and complied. They exited the small open seating area quickly, Meiling practically dragged her friend behind her through the alley on her way to the palace.

“Meimei, what is–“

“Qi. Farmer. I know you think my nose doesn't match Jin's, but please, believe me about this. ”

Meihua sighed. “Good. But I think you've read too many stories. Would someone dare to do such a thing?”

Meiling grimacing. And keep walking to the palace.

“I hope we'll never know.”

///////

Meimei was looking the other way when we met, all tensed in anger. I asked her what was wrong, but got the answer “no” and decided to leave it.

The next few hours passed in silence, but we found nothing in my roots. I was not bothered, and hours of reading had removed the tension from Meimei's shoulder.

“.... it's nothing.”

“I can smell qi.”

Huh, so as soon as he followed me.

“. It smells like oil and blood. He also has bad eyes.”

Well, that's not good.

“I may be just paranoid. He is in the palace now, so there should be no problem.. But..”

Whahuh? Sure, Meihua was rather pretty, but some douche would only be a full young master to her?

Meimei looked stressed and worried.

“Ayo” said, after we put the roll back. “Come pick up Meihua and .. Tingfeng? We'll have dinner together.”

“….Well.” murmured, still look stressed. That's not gonna work.

“Miss Hong Meiling, will you give me the honor to eat with me tonight?”

Her lips lifted this time, and she looked at me with a half-hearted look.

“Of course. Jin Rou, I would be honored to have dinner with you.” I can feel that sarcasm.

It didn't take long to reach the palace. Meihua looked pleased to see us, and immediately joined hands with Meimei, while I nodded at Tingfeng.

We're leaving for dinner.

///////

“And then he called me, what's up again? A poor pig-headed “shitmonkey?” That's great!”

I wrapped my arm around Meimei's shoulder and pulled him closer while Tingfeng laughed out loud. Meimei slammed his elbow ineffectively against my side, so red that I thought he might have a stroke.

“Ah, I remember when she called me a useless snail sniffing a lotus flower! He was right, back then, and those words gave me the strength to get my position, if only to prove his rant wrong. ”

Tingfeng smirked at Meimei, walking with Meihua's arm back to the inn. Meimei had given up trying to escape, and was now only glaring at me half-heartedly.

He suddenly froze, and paled. My back is itching.

Three men suddenly appeared in front of us, looking for trouble.

…we were robbed?

The leader, in silk, smiled. “I Zang Li from the Shrouded Mountain sect. You girls, feel honored. I'll let you warm my bed tonight.”

I frowned. Something's not right.

“Do his minions have qi?” I whispered to Meimei. He sniffed, and nodded. I could feel how tense he was where my hand was on his arm.

“Not much, compared to you.” he bites back firmly.

Well, it was settled later. If they had less than me, they would definitely not be part of the Shrouded Mountain.

I took my hand off Meimei.

“No, he won't do that.” I said simply.

“You dare to oppose the sect of the Covert Mountain?” The cultivator sneered.

I scoffed. “You are not a Covert Mountain. And I doubt they'd be happy if you used their names, pal.”

The cultivator glared, and he flicked his finger. His friends unsheathed the sword and jumped at me, but damn, even I am more than their match. They were obviously slower than the big wolf I had thought of for Meiling. Poor thing has scabies or something, and it's still better than these guys ..

I gave them both a good shot, and then started playing to be young masters. Qi exploded around him.

I was silent, a little worried about his progress.

“You fuckyouuh, you're looking for death–!” She roared.” Look at the technique that killed a cultivator in the deep realms! My ultimate spear!”

“ Heaven's Spear Penetration! ”

Oh shit, he's fast — I don't have time to block, and collect my qi in defense for the first time in months.

He hit me on the chest–

And his fingers bent backwards. Like a wrong way back.

He fell back and started screaming.

Screw off?

… .how much are you?!

I gave him a good punch for being an idiot, then gathered them all together, and took them to jail. Tingfeng's coming with me.

I hope I can convince the guard captain to just say that I am a wandering cultivator. I don't want any douche nozzles coming to try and find me just in case she has friends.

//////

Meiling stared around the street. Grass and flowers grow from around each stone. The trees, preparing for autumn, have all bloomed. The wooden building closest to the point of impact began to grow branches, with small leaves poking out from it.

“….I told you my nose wasn't gone.” Meiling said, feeling a bit faint.
