It was the Third Day of the departure of his Great Master.
Bi De sat on top of the Great Pole of Fa Ram under the rising sun, his eyes closed. His contemplation was on the state of the Great Ram Fa, and the harvest.
He carefully examined the energy of the soil, and found they did not diminish. They are difficult things to regulate his senses, spread and always change as they are, but he finds it through familiarity and perseverance, because his Land and Great Master are almost the same.
It was a vibrant and healthy thing, even though it seemed to be preparing something. Like his Great Teacher, is the land also preparing for “winter”? The preparation was very subtle, and he could not understand his movements, but he kept watching him, looking for patterns.
The ground shifted, and recognized it. After sensing that intent to her, she lowered her head, and parted with some of her qi, presenting it as a sacrifice. He could not feed her like his master did, but he hoped that a small part of his strength would be well received.
The land took it and ate it. The feeling of being watched fades.
“ We give land, and land gives back. As always, the wisdom of his Great Master was unrivalled. He was fascinated every time he thought about it. Great teachers often offered sacrifices to the land. All waste from his labors is carefully catalogued, and what can be returned to Earth will be returned.
He stared at where the bones of several intruders had been buried, and found grass there of a higher quality than in the surroundings. It is rich in the power of the Earth. The grass is fed by insects. Insects are fed by relatives, and smugglers. And in turn, the grass eats their bones.
It was a cycle. The whole world is full of them. Moon, night and day phases. Things like that matter. And even though he didn't witness it, he knew in his bones that once this “winter” ends, it will also be a cycle, back to the time of his birth, with cooler air, he said, and when the trees just flower and bloom.
All things come and go.
This is the world order.
He felt a shift inside his chest. He inhaled the air of the Earth deeply, rejoicing in it. Pride swelled as he grasped the profound wisdom of his Master.
He got up from his position, and did his job. Through his observation of his God, he knew what needed to be done. The chicks, their sons, must be fed from the gift of their Great Master. Hopefully it will make them strong, to consume rice, and smugglers on Heavenly Herbs. Floor swept. Storage area checked. He had no idea what the rice warehouse was being inspected for, but he assumed the intruders would try to steal this as well from his Great Master.
Finally, he did the most unpleasant part of his task. But the Great Teacher had left him as Master in his absence, and he would try to never disappoint his Lord.
Chun Ke and Pi Pa must be directed . They are stupid animals that try their patience, not understanding their place in the hierarchy. His Great Master was very affectionate towards them, but he did not have such hospitality when they dared to dirty his fur with mud. He nearly killed them both on the spot, but such an act of anger was inappropriate.
His Great Master didn't really care about getting dirty, so he would try to feel the same way.
Instead, he simply toppled the two with a flap of his wings. Now, they were more respectful, but still dared to test it.
He opened the gate for them, and they ran out, their ugly and beaded eyes staring at him. He jumped onto Chun Ke's back, and they walked towards the forest, where they could root their noses through the ground, eating roots and tubers. They were returned to their cages after they ate until they were full.
At this moment, he would usually try once again to give his essence to the plant: but there were only a few plants, except for Heavenly Herbs.
So instead, he sat on top of the Great Pole, and turned to contemplation.
That's when he felt it.
He has sensed the flash of a smuggler. At first, he assumed they were afraid of his strength, but now he felt a swarm.
She sounded the alarm, and the female ran back into the cage. However, he rushed to meet them.
Crossing through the hills, past the river, and through the trees, he stepped without hesitation, until he saw them. They are many, almost twenty in total. Most were small objects, even smaller than her, with hairless tails and beaded-like eyes.
He glared at the scaffolding and the cauldron. He would drive them out, or kill them for this humiliation!
He landed on the open ground, and announced his presence to them, his powerful shout making the little ones run away in fear and dread. He walked towards them, his steps unshakable. His moonlight blade formed above his stool.
“Peace, protective protector.” He heard a shrill voice call, and from near the cauldron scaffolding, another appeared. It was one of the larger intruders, as large as he was, walking on two legs and bowing, ********** his hand. “We beg you, keep your sword.”
It bowed and cried pleading to him, and Bi De let his sword disappear, staring intently at them. The intruder took this as a sign to continue.
“This Ji Chow, and his clan family are just pitiful refugees. We can feel the almighty power of this place, and come to beg its master to give us leeway! We are starving and dying, mighty protector, have mercy on us!”
Hearing this, the black feather dropped itself onto the ground near his feet. The rest curled up before him, some treatment wounds.
Bi De felt his anger subside. They're really pathetic. Maybe this is just a lost guest, not a true intruder?
Bi De made a decision. Guests should be given hospitality.
He used as much of his regal demeanor as he could, and gave this poor face, lowered his head, and greeted them.
Black feathers cheered, and he led them to rest from the elements, and food for the hungry.

“That's not even fully half of it?” Hong Xian asked in disbelief.
“Ya, Elder Hong. 83 bags is the final total. ” Yun Ren confirm.
“Surprising. And his temperament?”
“Kakak Jin is Brother Jin. She's what she is.” Hearing this, Yun Ren sounded somewhat reproachful, “He built a house as big as yours for your daughter, and was lured to her like her. He gave us his house without restraint, and fed us from his desk until we were full.”
Yao Che snorted from beside him, the bull of a man crossed his hands, and also frowned. “The virtues of the boy are clear, Brother Xian. She never glanced at my flower Meihua, and even now promised to escort her safely with us to her destination. I won't hear any more doubts about his character.”
Xian frowned. “I am ashamed to doubt such a man, this is true, but a father is worried. Looks like I remember you threatening Tingfeng with an axe, Brother Che. ” She shook her head, while Yao Che looked embarrassed. “Stay, today is a good day. I see your quick journey has made you and your brother rich, Yun Ren. ”
Hearing that, he smiled gently. “Brother Jin insists that we all take a portion of the harvest as thanks. We tried to resist him, but he didn't. I am honored to call him Brother Jin, and befriend him.”
Finally, Hong Xian nodded. “And this solves this problem. Sorry to have to ask you to check, Yun Ren. Now, go with you, and no more this business. He is Brother Jin. Don't leave this door in Hong Yaowu closed for him.”
Hong Xian sighed, as Xong Yun Ren and Yao Che left his residence. He walked up to his window, and looked out into the fields, where Jin Rou worked hard, helping them with the final preparations to see Meihua go to Verdant Hill.
His daughter, who was very similar to his mother, bought him water with a smile, and they stopped to talk and laugh.
Her meiling looks very happy. He also smiled at the precious happiness of his daughter. Farming is good and productive, and men are good and productive.
His last doubt was drained away. “Ah, my dear, I hope you can see them.” He mumbled sadly.
