Watch out Chicken

Watch out Chicken
chapter 12

Rice rice. World tree. The white rice is delicious. But like all grains, this is the highest amount of effort. After you peel it off, you will have to pound it even harder to remove the bran and the germ.

White rice also has a deficiency of several important vitamins. By removing the rice husk, you eliminate vitamin B1, essential for human body processes. And then, with a deficiency of B1, you get the berry . Shortness of breath, swollen feet, nerve damage. And finally, death.

Bad way to go, if you ask me.

So good I was able to quickly peel and polish my rice, I held myself back, and decided only to do half white and half brown.

Even with my cultivator's enhanced constitution, harvesting my paddy completely requires a lot of work. Threshing, stripping, polishing. I've had two days, and there's still a lot to do. But again, my crop far exceeded my expectations. I have half an acre of rice on the hill. I'm almost half finished, and already filled forty-two bags of 40 kilograms, the standard size here. I need to make more just to keep my stuff!

To be honest, I don't know how much I need for winter, so it's better to have too much than too little, but Jesus .

Still, nothing is in vain. I would turn the husk and the stem into fertilizer, or sometimes firewood. I'm really looking forward to winter. From Jin's memory, it was much lighter than I usually remember. But then again, I'm used to - 20 celsius, with a drop to - 40s, and massive snowfall. It even ended before April! Miracle miracle!

Oh, man, I'm gonna make the biggest snowman ever! It was the General Who Ordered Winter, the Curse of Cultivators everywhere!

Hehe.

I just wish one of my carrots would be big enough for a really giant schnoz. You can't have a snowman without a carrot.

I took a breath, then came out

The sound of farming swept over me. The smell of Peppa and Chunky, the chirping of chickens, the chirping of newly hatched chicks. Little kids just came into the world last week, and they've made a nuisance on themselves, and running Big D in tatters ensures none of them die.

Ah, this is life.

/////

“Kakak Jin must have stayed quite far.” Gou Ren complained as they walked with some of their equipment towards the place Jin said his house was. His thick eyebrows were pulled down in annoyance, and his frown almost reached his densely-packed shell. “And does he even need help with his harvest? He's only been there seven months, he can't bring too much.”

Gou Ren had been grumbling about running ever since they started– but Gou Ren had always grumbled, so it was just something that everyone in Hong Yaowu could endure. He always did what he was assigned, so it was tolerated by most people.

“Ah, but my brother, if he is done, then all we do is take a walk, and then enjoy the hospitality of others.” Yun Ren said cheerfully, always pragmatically. His eyes were locked in his unrelenting crossbows, and his pony swayed at every step. He was slightly shorter than his younger brother, but Gou Ren was one of the taller men in the village. We need to escort our flower here, and keep its purity safe, as commanded by our illustrious leader.”

“Meiling? Flowers?” Gou Ren scoffed with a teasing grin, repeating an old game between them, “The only plant that resembled him was a bunch of thistles. If you hug her, you'll just get stabbed. ”

Meiling scowling. “I will remember that remark when you plead with me to cure your illness, Little Gou. It seems I remember someone groaning in their bed due to stomach pains, and begging me to save them from death– when it turned out to be a buildup of gas.

Gou Ren's face flushed red while his brother started laughing. “Hai! You said you wouldn't tell anyone about it! ”

“Oh, really?” Meiling pretends to be brooding, “I don't remember such a promise, after all, I'm just a bunch of thistles, poking people~”

Yun Ren pretended to sigh and shook his head. “You should know better than to go to a battle of wits when you are unarmed, brother.”

Gou Ren stuttered over his brother's betrayal, while Meiling and Yun Ren shared a smile. He snorted, and began to walk faster.

Meiling was sure they were close, as she began to smell the faint scent of soil and harvest. It was a refreshing, life-filled smell, and there was no faint sharp smell that most qi had.

“Ah, looks like I saw a fence!” Gou Ren stated, and indeed, they quickly approached the barrier at the end of the road. “I think we're here.”

It was a sturdy fence, at the base of a hill, made up of large wooden trunks, its branches were plucked and plugged into the ground, and then hatched with planks.

Meiling looked puzzled at the sign hanging conspicuously beside the open gate.

“Be careful with Chicken?” ask Yun Ren. “Did I read it correctly?” He asked Meiling, and she nodded.

The two brothers laughed. “Brother Jin has a strange sense of humor,” says Gou Ren, “Why would anyone be afraid of chicken?”

Visit . ⁇ , for the best no_vel_read_ing experience

Something fell to the ground in front of them.

It was the head of an eagle, his eyes were plucked out.

They looked from the eagle's head, back up the fence. A magnificent rooster, wearing a fox fur vest, tilted his head to the side and looked at them.

Brothers shouting.

Meiling. It was half hidden by the scent of the earth, but the rooster smelled like.... moon!? How does the moon even smell?

The chicken seemed to decide something, and jumped down from the fence to land in the middle of the gate.

Then he formed a graceful bow, his wings spread out to the side. It stays that way, and watches over them.

Meiling realized what she was looking for.

“Yun Ren, Gou Ren, bending.” He muttered to them, and bowed to greet them.

“What, to chicken ?!” Ask Gou Ren.

“It was a Spirit Beast . Bow. ”

They bend.

The rooster stood up once more, satisfied and nodded his head. Then he walked to the side of the fence, and stretched out his wings, to signal them.

Gou Ren looked at it vigilantly.

“Who is afraid of chicken.” Yun Ren ridiculed him as they walked ashore.

“Diam .” Gou Ren hissed.

It bowed once more, once they were inside the fence, quickly lowered its head, and then walked in front of them, as they walked up the small hill.

And that's where the real surprise lies.

“God above, this was all the forest and stone last year! Some stones are bigger than a house!” Yun Ren gasped.

They looked at the hills and fields that were sloping and hilly, overgrown with green grass. A river flows down a hill filled with terraced rice fields, some with still-drying rice inside. It would not look strange on land that has been cultivated for decades, not just months.

A small house, and a larger storage shed were located on top of the hill, along with another smaller fence. Chickens crowed, pigs clapped, and they could hear the steady pounding of someone peeling rice.

Meiling takes in the air. That's heavenly . It was clean and pure, mixed with something slightly peppered and fiery, and the smell of life was always there.

“See that rice,” muttered Gou Ren. “I've never seen that much rice in one field before, and it's only half-baked. What kind of man is Brother Jin, who did all this himself ?! ”

Their musings were interrupted by the chickens who let out loud screams.

The bang stopped, and Jin's voice came from inside the house, speaking in another language, the language he told Meiling.

“ Tell them Bi De! ”

The chicken crowed again, and Jin stepped out.

Meiling stared. His shirt was open, revealing his tanned and slippery muscles due to sweat. Jin's expression of satisfaction turned to happiness. A bright grin ruled his face.

“Meimei! Brother Yun Ren, Brother Gou Ren! Welcome to Fa Ram! ”

Jin looked surprised, and then was completely grateful.

Meiling staring .

Gou Ren pierced his back, and he gasped. “Stop drooling, Meimei.” she scolds, ticklish. Red covered his face.

Jin laughed. “I won't say no to help, but what about your own harvest?”

Gou Ren shrugged his shoulders. “They will be fine, I guess, or Elder Hong will not send us.”

“Well, if you're sure, I should be finished in a day or two with this kind of speed.” One or two days ?! Meiling thought in disbelief. “I plan to go to the village after I'm done, so I don't miss Meihua.”'s wedding.

“Alright, then, we are ready to help you, Brother Jin.” Yun Ren stated.

Jin shook his head. “You just arrived! Not much, but I'll give you a great tour!”

So they walked on the ground, took a closer look at the rice fields, carefully arranged stones by size, and pebble holes, and the beginning of a bridge over the river. While they walk, they cheer each other up with stories about their time apart: only a month, but there are a few things to talk about.

Even if some of it stabs each other.

“A thistle, yes?” Jin asked with a smile. “I can see it. Medicinal. Strong enough to grow anywhere. And really, they are really beautiful flowers, the color is the same as her eyes.”

The brothers looked at each other in shock, while Meiling covered her face with her hands, such was her embarrassment.

Yun Ren panted, and clasped his hands respectfully. “Kakak Jin, Your expertise in equipping makes Yun Ren this humble”

“Brother Jin, Your tongue is silver and fast! Teach the unworthy Gou Ren this is how you are!” The other brother jokingly demanded.

They laughed as they continued walking, down the small river.

“How about that? Brother Jin, are you building another house? ” Yun Ren asked, pointing to the stone slab, and the wooden board above the first smaller river.

Hearing this, Jin flushed.

“ ... The place is not big enough for more than one person .” murmured, and his eyes turned to Meiling, before darting away again.

Meiling gulped, her heart pounding fiercely in her chest. Building a house for a family .

“Yes, building a house! Anyhow! Here's Low Herbal Spiritual–” He said, starting his tour again.

Meiling forced herself to move, following behind Jin, and from a very pleasant picture her words had conjured up. He hoped when he stayed here that the spirit herbs would be a little further away from home. They smell a lot of fire and ash.

Then he realized what he was thinking, and pinched his leg. When did I stay here?!

//////

Jin is tireless. He did not even work at a speed exceeding that of a highly skilled human, it was just that he continued to work . His hands were moving at the same speed. His breathing was steady and flat, and the work that needed to be done simply disappeared .

Meiling weaved more bags to pack the rice, while Gou Ren transported the dried rice to her, and Yun Ren helped harvest the vegetables.

And then, Jin made them dinner. Pieces of chicken filled with Spiritual seasoning, chayote, mushrooms and some spices, then coated with leftover rice, and fried until crispy. Served with roasted carrots, radishes, and freshly harvested rice.

It was the most delicious food they had ever eaten.

When the people who had the form of his Great Master had come, Bi De knew that he was justified. None of them had the strength and majesty of their Lord. They are inferior, and are clearly here to give tribute.

Still, there is no reason to be rude. He knows that guests should be respected and cared for, unless they do something indecent. They arrived at the opening of the Pillar, as they should, and they exchanged greetings, so that they were allowed to enter the Blessed Land of his Great Master.

They also matched their admiration, as the Great Master was incomparable on this earth. And he was also justified, for having given them face by bowing to them, for his master also bowed to them. If he didn't do it, he would be very embarrassed. The absence of a Disciple submitting to the honored guest of his Great Master is truly inexcusable.

With his Great Master, they also worked hard in the land. They were actually inferior to his Great Master, of course, but they worked with skill, and heeded his Master's words well.

They deserve respect, in that respect.

And then, as dinner time came, the Great Teacher took the fattest female, one from the start, and killed her, as she killed the other birds that were flying and eating.

Bi De was surprised. His master had killed one of his! Such a thing was beyond his comprehension.

He was so shaken by the action, so great, that he fled to the Great Pole of Fa Ram to reflect on this development. Will he be next?

He pondered deeply on his Great Master's reasons for consuming one of the Females, and found that such a thing was not as surprising as he first believed.

They were all his Great Teachers. They live in His Blessed Land, they enjoy His virtues. But the Lady did not take advantage of the great generosity of her master. He had become fat, and had a certain amount of qi, but not like him. He hasn't boarded yet. He was as an intruder that he ate, that ate the essence of his master.

This was only the essence of the Great Master returning to him, to once again feed the new generation. Those with skills, and heaven's luck, would ascend like him. Those who will not return to the Great Teacher.

Bi De nodded to himself, satisfied with his understanding. He will not be cruelly killed by his Lord.

He went back to His Great Master, and was given a measure of Heavenly Herbs, and he had affection poured out on him, just like any other night.

Then, his master emptied his house, and gave the female guest a nice face by letting her lie down on her bed, while he went to lie under the storage, where he was, and the other man lay on the bed roll outside.

Bi De prepared himself to take over the night watch, when the woman came out of the house, and headed for her master. At first, he thought of treachery, as only ferocious beasts sneak up at night.

He followed her, and his Heavenly sword formed as he approached his Supreme Master's prone form.

He woke her up gently, and then slipped into his bed.

Bi De's blade shattered, as he understood the situation. She is not just a woman, she is a woman of the Great Master .

It was a night of many revelations. Though he wished Chun Ke and Pi Pa had not ascended, instead being eaten. They are the most annoying creatures.

“Jin.”

I'm up.

“Meime-?”

One finger to silence me followed by a soft lip on my lips.

The warmth is beside me.

“Only for a little.” He whispered.

Our lips meet again.

It's not for a little. I was awakened by the shock of green-colored hair, and the warmth in my chest. Meimei was beside me, asleep and peaceful.

I wish I could wake up with that face again.
