My name is Aqila Larasati Devi, my family and friends used to call me Devi. I was born to a simple family in the city of Yogyakarta, since childhood I have been familiar with the art world, my mother is a batik maker, and my father is a wayang player.
Like my name, since my birth, our family has become more harmonious and provided sustenance, even though mother and father are not the famous batik and puppeteer in the city of Yogya. From I was still in Elementary, my father often invited me to be a singer or sinden in the puppet show that he masterminded.
Until finally, when SMP I officially became a sinden still group puppet father, pretty, for the wages that I get from the results of being a sinden, I can finance my own school, he said, I never asked my mother and father for pocket money again.
Until the time I had to part with my father and mother because I was accepted at my dream campus from a young child, I had to post near the ISI Yogyakarta campus, my home from the ISI campus quite far away, I live on the border of Klaten and Yogyakarta, while ISI campus is in Bantul area.
Like most children who have never been separated from parents, knowing to be a boarding child makes the heart feel two things that are contrary, happy of course, because in addition to entering the dream campus, the, I can also imagine how happy it is to live independently with the rules that I make myself, but also sad because I can no longer continue to see and enjoy the cuisine of mother and father jokes.
" Uda get all the stuff you want to bring Dev ? " . Ask mother.
" Already Ma'am, ntar also if anyone forgets, Devi returns home, Hehehe.. ". (with a look of impatient face and a little teasing mother ).
" Lecture is right, diligent, do not think strange - strange, do not follow your friends who are naughty, do not date first, understand Dev ? " .
" Ready commander.. ". The father was not a serious person, he joked more with us than he talked about serious things, maybe from my childhood until now, he was only serious with me about school affairs, he said, if I am sick and lazy to learn.
" Come sir, let's take his son, later last night, not to mention sorted out there ". (while continuing to lift things into the car pick-up rental mother ).
After mom and dad left, I immediately tried to lay down on the bed, this body felt tired because all day moving things and done - clean my new room, while staring at the phone. I tried to fall asleep, but the euphoria in the first lecture made me unable to fall asleep immediately, until finally my eyes were tired with the phone still in hand, without me realizing I was asleep.
At that time my hand touched the phone lying next to my head, the clock showed at five in the morning, it seemed that I slept quite soundly because I did not realize how I could sleep last night. Today is the agenda of the first meeting on campus that discusses the schedule and what luggage will be brought for ospek tomorrow.
Immediately I took a shower and rushed, my boarding house and ISI campus were only about 500 meters away, the trip to campus I did on foot, the atmosphere around the campus was beautiful, indeed, still beautiful with panoramic rice fields on the left right, not much noise in the area around the campus, because Bantul is not as crowded as Sleman or the city of Yogya.
I entered through the back door, from the back door of ISI we can directly meet the hall or ISI Galery where the children of ISI exhibition or show off his work, he said, the building I was going to was the Administrative Arts lecture building, there it looks like there are already many new children who will also study with me later. Its name is also the ISI campus, the students and students there are diverse, from tribes, styles, styles and other uniqueness.
Our room, the new students are on the 2nd floor of the Tata k building
Manage Art, after about 2 hours of listening to all the needs tomorrow, we are all welcome to surround the ISI campus or can go straight home, some students choose to go directly to the campus cafeteria, there were also interested in surrounding the campus area, but I chose to hurry back to the boarding house, because today my father will pick me up to fill an event at one of the weddings in the village we live in.
Just got to the front door of the boarding room, dad was standing there, dad is not a person who likes to buy time, he is very disciplined. Let alone the preparation of puppets is not a little, not a little, it takes a lot of time to prepare everything.
Usually the puppet is presented by the audience at night, but this time who has an event asking for the puppet show to be presented during the day, thank goodness, I can immediately ask you to take me to buy all the preparations for ospek tomorrow.
" Let's Dev, we'll buy your gear tomorrow. You'll be fine, I'll wait here".
" Yes sir". (While directly removing the bun and wiping the make up on my face ).
It takes about two hours to buy all the preparations, it is not difficult to find what items are needed tomorrow, because in the campus area, there are usually many traders who sell goods - goods needs ospek, and there are many other things that need to be done, but it is also not easy, I have to borrow a neighbor's ontel and make STNK and artificial BPKB for the ontel.
ISI campus is very well known for the uniqueness of ospek ritual and graduation, even some TV stations that highlight the agenda of ospek and graduation made by this campus.I am indeed very lucky to be able to enter this campus, in addition to the beautiful campus, this campus is also a very popular campus and is favored by students and high school graduates who want to hone their artistic talents.
Ospek lasted for about 7 days, after which we have started to undergo lectures as usual, early time in college, not so many lessons discussed, some lecturers are also still absent from teaching, some lecturers are also still teaching, Oya. lecturers at the ISI campus are also average artists, so they are also busy with art events outside the campus, too, not infrequently also some lecturers are still abroad to attend art performances or hold exhibitions.
It did not feel like I had almost a semester of college, the more fun it felt, my activities were also more crowded, friends were also more and more, the more, I have also started to get to know some senior artists and also started attending art events in Galery - Galery in Yogyakarta city.
I have also started to get close to some curators, because I majored in Art Governance, knowing many artists, curators, collectors is a must. Because later when we graduate it is expected that we will become a reliable Art Management, Event organizer, or Curator.
Me and my close friend Kiki have also started to be involved in working as a team in an art performance of one of the great artists, indeed the wages are not too big but for an experience, it is priceless. Oya. at a glance about Kiki, he is the son of a great painting artist in Yogyakarta, the blood of art has also flowed from him as a child, just like me, the difference is he was born from a fairly well-to-do family.
Tonight, Kiki invited me to a painting exhibition at one of the cafes in the Prawirotaman area, for those who have often been to Yogyakarta must be familiar with the Prawirotaman road, this area or road can be called bule village.all eyes will see many cafes, hotels and entertainment places that contain the majority of foreign tourists.
The area was not wide, only in the form of roads or alleys in the range of approximately one kilometer Parangtritis road, where we headed, was in the alley or Manguyudan road, and, Kiki will pick me up around 7pm, usually if the painting exhibition is held at night, the event will start around 19:30 WIB or after Isya.
" sir, Devi.. ". Kiki's screams, they're starting to sound from behind the door of my boarding room.
" Go in Ki, the door's not in the lock". (While continuing to wipe the lipstick that passed through my lip line area).
" No need to be beautiful - beautiful, ntar in your gondol bule".
" Bariin, it's quite dapet boyfriend bule, can be invited to travel to Europe ". (Laughing broadly ).
" Emang no ya Ki bule kere, kirain all the rich bule ".
" Your knowledge is less extensive Dev, ashamed I have a temen deket kayak you, Uda ayok, hunted.. What time is this ".
Rushing up the car brought by Kiki, our journey takes approximately 20 minutes if using a car, it will be faster if using a motorbike, because actually from the ISI campus is only one major in Parangtritis street. We also until the venue was just about to start, the parking lot had begun to be crowded lined with motorcycles and cars of the spectators present.
Actually, painting exhibition events like this, the audience is not only from the lovers of painting, other artists will also attend, usually one artist and another will support each other.
Many people who do not understand art come to enjoy the music presented at the exhibition, the music is diverse, and, depending on the request of the artist to his Art Management or the Art Management itself that will direct the artist all the preparation and intension of the event, the artist only focuses on his work.
After being able to park the car, Kiki and I went straight to the guest book table, finished filling the guest book, we headed to the seat provided there, and we went to the table, on the left right there are many guests or spectators who talk to each other, many also prefer to stand while enjoying the dishes served.
Again Kiki became a prima donna. Besides being beautiful, she is also famous. I was forced to be willing to be touted a lot by him, while watching the opening show, and reducing loneliness, I chose to focus on enjoying the ongoing event while enjoying tea and bean stew.
Suddenly the audience was boisterous, the stage then became crowded, the sound of reggae music echoed in all corners and sides of the cafe that night, the show was opened, the show was opened, the audience can enjoy the work of the artist.
" Come on in Ki ". Pulling the hand of Kiki who had been busy talking to others.
" You first gih. ntar ak susul ya ". (half look up and immediately turn your eyes to the interlocutor ).
A little annoyed, but I chose to go into the showroom myself leaving Kiki who was engrossed in conversation. To enter the showroom, I had to pass through the music stage on the left side of the showroom entrance, so that when the way I was a little heart-heart, heart-felt, if only be nudged by other audiences who are busy enjoying music.
Until I was in the showroom, I seemed to be hypnotized by all the existing works, no matter how long I looked at one by one the displays of works presented that night. Until from behind Kiki surprised me, he patted my back very hard, making me scream very loudly.and as a result I became the center of attention of the entire room, shame instead of playing, Kiki was indeed jail.
Not wanting to linger long into the limelight, I immediately rushed out of the showroom, my steps were a little tight, my gaze a little unawares, my eyes a little, suddenly I nudged someone's shoulder very tight, I was a little down while holding my shoulder that felt a little pain.
" You're okay, right ? " . (while holding my shoulder ). Ask someone who I accidentally nudged.
" It's okay, sorry to rush ". He accidentally noticed the look on his face, and it turns out he's a man, but I don't know who he is, maybe an artist or an audience who just came to enjoy music.
" Alone ! " . With a slightly loud sound suppressor, because of the tightness of the sound of music in that place.
" No, both of them are the same with me, but I'm still inside ". The man brought his ears closer to my lips.
I had a little bit of a distance from her, I had never talked to a foreign man in all this time either, so it felt a little strange and awkward. However, the man continued to talk to me, he began to ask about me. and invite me further acquaintances, how long ago I felt ordinary.
" My name is Pras, you.. ". (while thrusting his hand at me).
" Devi.., are you alone too ? ". While returning his hand, I asked back.
" Yes, I'm alone, but the music players are all my friends, I know them ".
" O. are you a music player too ? ". My toot.
" No, I just love watching reggae music " .
Then after that, we began to talk, we finally chose to take a cup of coffee and sit in one of the empty chairs there, without me noticing Kiki coming and startling me again.
" Dev.. Uda night, go home yuk ! ". He pulled my hand tightly. Evening has also shown at 22:00 WIB, we still have to go to college tomorrow morning - morning.
" Yes, bentar.. I said it used to be the same mas ". ( while pointing to Pras ).
" Who is it ? your temen ! I don't know ". Kiki asked in a loud tone while looking up at Pras questioningly.
" No, I also just met earlier, ah ntar I'm a story, Oya.. Pras, I went back first, thank you for talking ".
" Same as Dev, may I ask your number, who knows I can ask you info about the exhibition - kayak exhibition again ". (while removing the phone from the pocket ).
" maybe.. ".
That night, it was the beginning of my introduction to her.
