Theft of the Future

Theft of the Future
Chapter 33

About the incident that was discussed, it turns out that there have been many police cars surrounding a house, as well as curious civilians who were expelled, not to forget journalists who forced to search for news content.

Not much interaction takes place between humans and the police.

Although many times the police used loudspeakers to discuss, the humans did not harass him. Their selfish requests were already written on a board kept in front of the fence, which called for a change in government regulations to focus more on the well-being of human life.

The boys who followed Parker were just waiting for the adults to discuss with the police before further action.

They just looked around, saw a place that was still seedy and dirty, which was not so interesting. There is a distance between the building itself and the fence that is used as a barrier so that the police do not enter recklessly

The distance is filled by a land that should be a park.

But, it did not look green as Laju saw in the forest.

In the empty land, there was only sand and yellow grass that withered.

“Suffering once,” he said commenting.

“Cannot. Some personnel died on the spot if forced entry. It seems, the humans set a trap around the park,” said a police officer behind the car.

So that's why even the grass turns yellow and withers.

A living creature, namely police personnel who entered the fence immediately died suddenly with many symptoms and complications. I don't know if he was hit by poison from an arrow, his balance suddenly disappeared and fell on a strong rock, became suddenly insane, and various other magic traps.

Delphia could take the ice out of her hand. So, this is nothing new for the citizens of Kannaris. Merely, magic attacks that struck the mental beings were extremely rare to find.

Where did those humans get a way to throw magic that attacks the mental and psychic of this opponent?

“No problem. There is a reason why I became one of the beastmen warriors 151 years ago. I can take care of myself,” Parker told the police.

And that way, Parker begins to invite Iris and the others – including Laju and Delphia, to follow him to the house where the abuse occurred. Trying to start a discussion more closely and seriously to the humans.

“Are you crazy? You brought someone else in with you?” Shouted one policeman.

But Parker ignored.

After telling the others to stand behind him, Parker began to cross his arms in front of his chest, groan gathering energy, and took them off with a wide open stretch of hands.

A second later, Parker's large body appeared a yellow layer from under his feet to the tip of his hair. The transparent yellow layer that enveloped the body was immediately extended to Iris behind her, as well as Aaron, Audy, Delphia, and finally Laju. Not enough to get there, the layer forms a ball that covers the six people.

The pace doesn't quite understand what Parker just did.

Is this some kind of protector? But, he felt nothing.

After all, even if the magic attacked by humans is not physical magic that attacks the body, but the mental and soul. Can this protector work?

“Then I go first. Hopefully they can still be invited to discuss,” Parker exclaimed to the police. “Or at least we can save the hostages from ****** that.”

And it's true.

Attacks that are still physical attacks such as poison arrows, bullet shots out of nowhere, snakes that want to bite, until the small lightning that attacks the group can be repelled easily.

Apparently, this transparent shiny yellow layer is indeed a protector.

Parker as a bull beastmen possessing a super-large body is well suited to the view and impression of the Ride if it masters the ability to protect this.

But, as they walked without any significant disturbance so as to reach the terrace of the house, not many realized that Parker's breath began to tight. A protective layer began to crack, blood coming out of his nose, and sweat drenching Parker's head.

In fact, before Iris the loyal crow could notice. Parker had wiped everything and took a breath, trying not to worry his friends, even to fix the crack on his protector.

“Then let's go in,” take Parker later while knocking on the front door.

Actually, it's free to knock.

The humans would not trouble themselves to take care of it. But Parker kept the courtesy and grit to knock on the door, salute, and introduce himself.

But, as expected by others, there was no response from the human side other than the screams of a girl who was thought to be a hostage being held somewhere, somewhere inside this house.

With one strong push by his left shoulder, the policemen standing behind the fence were shocked to be grateful that Parker and his team managed to break into the house. Hopefully, the discussion goes well.

As soon as the door opened, there was a living room, a hallway, and a closed door that was very dirty and dusty. Except for the floor, which has a lot of footprints. Based on this, it means that the humans did not interact much with the furniture of the house. In fact, maybe they only found this house at a glance and immediately focused on hostage.

“Haloo!? I am Parker the representative of the civilian town of Kannaris! Can we discuss and talk?” Parker shouted in hopes of reaching the ears of the humans. But, there was still no reply except for the small scream and the voice of the female victim.

“Do we just crash all the rooms to look for them?”

“What if there are other traps set up by them?”

“There's a Parker protector, right?”

“Not. That's not. How is that a trap that leads directly to the hostages?”

“... Then what should we do? They don't seem to be planning at all to answer any remarks by Parker or the police outside.”

“Stay in a group. Don't separate. I'll open slowly every room. You guys focus on supporting only!” It was Parker who immediately ended the debate between Laju and Aaron.

The first door in the living room was opened by Parker.

“Haloo?” Parker exclaimed along with the sound of worn hinges.

There was no answer except for the empty bedroom.

They slowly looked around from the bedroom. After finding no useful clues, they closed the door again to switch to the hallway in the living room earlier to continue the search.

Passing through the living room, they walked slowly into the hallway which turned out to have a peculiarity that was so suspicious. This hallway is directly connected to the living room which still has enough lighting produced from the window in front. Then, why is this hallway completely dark like it is not connected to the living room in front of him which is clearly only one step apart?

In addition, this hallway also has an aura and sensation that makes the feathers sit on everyone until Parker was standing. Especially Delphia, who was terrified and protected herself behind the pace.

“Why does this aisle make me uncomfortable?”

“Has it been embedded magic that attacks the mental and soul as the police say outside?”

“Can be. But I don't really understand that kind of magic, nor how it works.”

“What do you feel, Parker? Is this really magic, or just my feelings?”

“Could be his business with magic. The atmosphere of this hallway is indeed very different.”

“About whether there is a trigger?” Aaron looked around.

And from what Aaron could see, in this dark hallway was a small statue that was on the altar with glowing purple eyes.

Aaron was curious about the presence of this palm-high statue. He looked on with jelly, until it was almost abandoned by the others.

“Aaron? What the hell are you looking at? Don't always trouble others, dong!” Audy Protest.

And before Aaron wants to put an end to his curiosity, he plans to look deeper, almost touching it by accident.

A second later, the electric shock stimulated Delphia's thoughts and memories. He forgot about this future so scared of the dark passageway he was going through.

From behind Laju's back, he jumps for a plunge trying to prevent Aaron from touching the statue. However, what happened next was even the opposite of what Delphia intended. The jump even made Aaron lose his balance. Not only touching, Aaron also dropped the statue.

“What the hell? Why you–”

And before Aaron could finish his words, the darkness in the hall became more and more so, darker, more concentrated, like it had just eaten them. Now, they really can't see anything 50 inches from before their eyes.

“APA THE TER–”

So did Parker. Before he could figure out what had happened to the passageway that was suddenly devoured by this darkness, the floor of the passage suddenly disappeared, and they fell into a drift.

Not only vision, but this darkness also steals their voices.

Thus, even though they had just fallen from the hallway of the house somewhere unknown, they did not shout, like not responding to what had just happened to them.
