Chapter 34's

Niko had never felt the pain she was in now. His hand tried to open the car door. Memories with Laura popped into his mind. Niko looked at herself at the window of her car. Then he realized something. She can abandon her dream as a jewelry designer even though she will suffer if she does. But he couldn't leave Laura. He won't be able to survive. If Laura doesn't like it, Niko will make Laura like it again.

Niko realized one important thing. If she had to choose between her dream and Laura, she would not hesitate to choose Laura. With renewed determination, Niko rushed back to the restaurant.

Niko was shocked to see the crowd at the place where she had left Laura earlier. Then he saw Laura lying on the floor. “Soaring!” she shouted at someone next to Laura.

Niko checked the pulse on Laura's neck. It throbbed, but it was very weak. “Call ambulance!” he shouted at Maya.

Maya ran straight to the phone.

“Laura, wake up,” said Niko in panic as she tried to pat the girls cheeks slowly to resuscitate her. “Don't do this to me, Laura.... Wakeup!”

“Ambulance is on its way,” said Maya who was also worried.

Niko was a little relieved to hear the notification from Maya. Suddenly her gaze was fixed on the seepage of blood on the right leg of Laura's dress. Niko quickly flicked up Laura's dress and saw a long wound there. From the wound, blood flowed out. Niko was looking for something. He got up and picked up the white napkin at the dinner table, then tied it to Laura's bleeding leg to stop the bleeding temporarily.

Niko was shocked to see Laura's bleeding leg and scar. His gaze traced his face

Laura. She wondered how long Laura had had the injury. Did Laura ever have an accident? Whatever it was it seemed the wound was quite severe. It was bad enough that Laura did not dare to say it.

When the ambulance arrives, Niko lets the paramedics take care of Laura. Niko is in the ambulance that will take her to the hospital. She calls Luki on the way and tells Laura the situation.

Luki was really shocked and said she was going to the hospital as soon as possible. Niko clasped Laura's hand in worry. “Please, don't leave me, Laura..” whispered slowly.

Both of Niko's hands trembled uncontrollably. As soon as Laura entered the hospital, a doctor immediately took her to the operating room. Soon enough, the restaurant staff of Antonio and Laura's family came across a face as pale as Niko's.

“What happened?” tanya uki gusar's.

“Doctor is preparing for surgery,” explains Niko. “Laura passed out in restaurant. Bloody feet. Doctor told me his leg had to be operated.” Luki looked at the traces of blood on Niko's wrist.

“Doctor Riswan performs surgery?” ask uki again.

Niko nodded. An orthopedic doctor who handled Laura's case introduced herself to Niko.

Mom and dad Laura hugged holding back the tears behind Luki. As Dr. Riswan was about to enter the operating room, Charles Rafael stopped him.

“What happened to my daughter?” charles was confused. “Isn't the wound healed?”

Doctor Riswan said frankly, “Laura hasn't told you about her new infection wound?”

Charles shakes. “He didn't say it.”

Charles grabbed Doctor Riswan's hand. “Is my daughter's foot okay?”

“I don't know,” says Doctor Riswan. “I have to operate it first, then I can know where the infection is spreading. I'll try to save his leg. But if it gets too bad, I have no choice but to amputate his leg.”

Helen's body immediately limp. “What does that mean, Doctor? Amputating his leg?”

Niko fell down. “Laura will lose her leg,” she's the one who answered Helen's question.

Doctor Riswan nodded.

“No!” scream Helen. “Laura can't lose her leg. Please, Doctor, save his leg.”

“I will do my best, Helen,” Doctor Riswan promised. He hated having to give bad news to both of them. But right now he had to concentrate on saving Laura's legs. “I'll save Laura.”

Doctor Riswan half ran towards the operating room. After Doctor Riswan entered, the operating room lights were on.

Luki was sitting next to Niko.

“You want to tell me, how did Laura's leg get that bad?” niko asked Luki without looking at her.

Luki let out a long sigh and started telling me everything. Niko finally understood why Laura had been trying to stay away from her all this time.

“You'll take care of Laura, no matter what happens, right?” ask me slowly.

“You still have to ask me that?” Niko looked at Luki sharply. Luki saw seriousness in Niko's eyes. “I'll take care of Laura, no matter what.”

Luki knew she had not mistakenly chosen a companion for her sister. Only Niko Fareli can give Laura happiness.

They were silent afterwards. Time seems to be slow. Some of the restaurant staff have gone home. Only Antonio and Maya are left. Both of them wanted to wait for Laura until the operation was over.

The operation went on for a long time. Luki told her parents to rest first, and promised to tell them as soon as Laura came out of the operating room. After being persuaded repeatedly, the two finally went home and promised to come again and wait for Laura after the operation.

The time is 03:00 when the operating room light is turned off. Luki and Niko immediately rushed over to the door of the operating room. Doctor Riswan is out of there.

“How, Doctor?” niko asked impatiently.
