MTDF #36 - I Can't Lose You

"We must immediately set the schedule for Sansa's heart surgery, Dorian. Soon!"

I immediately stared and my whole body weakened when I heard Doctor Chloe's words, I immediately threw the door and my arrival made Dorian look very surprised.

"What's going on?" I asked in a trembling voice, while Dorian just opened her mouth and looked puzzled to answer me. "Dorian, answer me, damn it!" yells me while pulling the collar of his shirt.

"What operation? What happened to Sansa? Answer me!" my snapping.

"Sit down, Alex!" Dorian was about to take me to a seat but I immediately brushed off his hand.

I was very surprised to hear what Dr. Chloe said earlier, my heartbeat stopped and my heart was immediately struck by a very deep fear because it reminded me of Malvina. I don't want Sansa to leave me like Malvina left Dorian.

"Come on, Alex. Let me explain to you, " said Dorian, who tried to calm me down.

I sat down and listened to Dorian and Dr. Chloe explain Sansa's situation alternately to me.

I held my breath when I heard their words, my hands and knees were shaking, my chest was tight.

So right, Sansa has a disease like Malvina?

"Sansa wants to tell you, Alex. But he said he was going to find the right time, he didn't want to see you sad" Dorian said, but his voice sounded so far away, my eyes were now empty, I was just thinking about my Sansa.

"I hope you're strong, Alex. And you can strengthen Sansa, because actually for one year, Sansa lived in fear. She's afraid of death, she's afraid of being separated from me, from you, from Emily and the others. I've always strengthened her and her illness can be cured with surgery, but she knows that Malvina's operation failed and she's afraid that it's also a failure."

"We're taking him to the best doctors and hospitals, Dorian." I said softly, even I barely heard my own voice.

"While I'm working on it, Alexander. But the thing is, Sansa's still freaked out by surgery."

I looked up and looked at Dorian sharply. "I can't lose her, damn it!" my growl. "Whatever the way, Sansa must be healed!"

"It's not the end, Alex. We still have a chance to heal Sansa!"

I went back to Sansa's nursery and now she's looking at me with so much sadness, a look that makes my heart melt. I know, he must have known that I had found out the truth about his illness.

"Have you seen Daddy and Dr. Chloe?" Sansa asked softly. I just nodded then sat by his side. Sansa let out her tears and I quickly wiped them off.

"Don't keep crying, your tears will run out" I said, to comfort her a little but her tears broke. I immediately grabbed him tightly. "It's okay, everything's gonna be okay, I promise, Sweetheart." I can't even hold back my tears.

Now I'm crying, after all this time, even I forgot the last time I cried, but now I'm back crying because of my Sansa.

"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you" Sansa said in between sobs.

"You'll get well, I won't let you go, Sweetheart. It won't!"

"But what if I'm like Mommy? He failed the surgery, what if I failed too? I don't want to be separated from Daddy, from you, I'm afraid."

"No, I'm not gonna let us split up, I promise."

A promise? I know my promise is pseudo, not sure, but what should I do? Not only did I lie to Sansa with this promise, but I lied to myself

Who can stop death? There ain't!

But I will definitely try my best, no matter what, even if it has to be settled with my life. I will try to keep that promise.
