The Love That Is Taken

The Love That Is Taken
The Worrying Farewell

Simon glared furiously. He snapped his daughter-in-law rudely, “Didn't you hear your secretary's words just now? He had already mentioned the name of the right person to replace him. Never mind, I don't want to keep people whose hearts aren't in this company. Go with your beloved secretary, Jon. Get the two of you out of this office!”

Karin immediately left the place to find a replacement candidate she called earlier in the accounting department. Jonathan was still at odds with his father-in-law.

“I'm sorry Jonathan, Pa. But frankly Jon didn't understand what Papa said just now.”

Simon's eyes glinted furiously. He said fiercely, “I've eaten a lot of life's salt acid, Jon. You think I can't feel something going on between you and Rosa's niece? You two like each other! Maybe that's why you've closed the door on your heart to your wife, Jon. Yes already. Better this than later my son is more disappointed to know there is already another woman in the heart of her husband.”

Jonathan kinked, “Papa, I have absolutely no affair with Karin. I could have sworn that for ten years of marriage with There, I never once had sex with another woman!”

“Not having sex does not mean not turning your heart, does not Jon?” cynical Simon quips. The son-in-law was stunned to hear his father-in-law's bullet-like speech piercing through his heart. Cold sweat began to flow from his temples. His attitude turned awkward. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to calm his troubled heart.

Then the man lowered his face to pay his respects to the old man who was sitting uprightly before him. “Jonathan won't defend himself, Pa. Certainly for ten years as a son-in-law of Papa, I never once did a deed that shamed the good name of the family. But because I have decided to end the marriage with There, then all my subsequent actions have nothing to do with the Hidayat family. Thank you for your guidance all along. Sorry for all the mistakes I made, both intentional and unintentional.”

Then the former number one in the paint factory raised his face again. The expression on Simon's face began to soften. Jonathan ventured to walk up to the man he deeply respected. When he was next to Simon who was still sitting on his chair, the son-in-law reached out his hand to shake his hand.

Somehow the old man's little heart told him to accept the young man standing next to him. And as he advanced his hand, Jonathan suddenly grabbed it and kissed the back of the wrinkled hand. Simon flabbergasted. Instantly the taste of haru burst in his chest.

Suddenly, he hugged his dear daughter-in-law tightly. Both eyes glazed. In the depths of his heart, he actually felt extremely lost to this man. Where else could my son have a companion as good as Jonathan? thought sad.

Jonathan who did not expect to be treated in such a way by the man who had been angry was moved.  His tears drenched his handsome face.

“Jonathan My son,” Simon said as he patted the boy's back lovingly. “Surely I feel very lost to you. You're a good son-in-law and husband. Forgive Papa and Theresia's mistakes, son.”

After expressing his heart, Theresa's real father let go of his embrace. Then he looked at Jonathan closely. Apparently he also felt sad by this separation, his mind was touched to see the face of the daughter-in-law who was also wet by tears.

“From now on,” continued Simon sadly, “Make according to your conscience, Son. Don't mind the opinions of others. I also want to apologize for all the mistakes Theresa made. Thank you so much for your patience with my son.”

“Please convey my apology also to There yes, Pa,” pinta the son-in-law sad. He wiped away tears with the back of his hand.

“About it, Jonathan really...”.

“Already, Son,” interrupted Simon to cut off his son-in-law's speech. “I am also a man. I can see something between you and Rosa's niece. Perhaps unknowingly, you fell for the girl because of the disharmony of your household. I can't blame you completely. My son is also responsible for the failure of your marriage,” concluded the old man wisely.

Jonathan could say nothing more. But his heart was relieved that his father-in-law was able to accept his decision to divorce.

“Jon...,” says Simon says. He looked at his daughter-in-law seriously.

“Iya, Pa.”

“For the next call me Om. I hope you're not so bad. I just don't want to burden you with the Hidayat family anymore. Enough of your service to me all this time. Thank you for taking good care of my company. Frankly I doubt I can get a replacement who has the credibility and dedication equivalent to you.”

Audible ******* Simon length. It's all over, he murmured bitterly in his heart. Theresa lost a patient husband, the company lost a credible leader, and I lost a good boy.

“Now go...,” pinta Simon is sad. “Take your dreams out there. If you need anything, please contact me. I'll help you as much as I can. Goodbye, my son. My prayers are always with you..”.

Jonathan nodded. He then lowered his head again taking a respectful attitude towards the old man and stepped away. Both of his legs felt heavy walking out of the room that for the last three years became his workplace.

As soon as the door of the room closed, his heart felt half gone. I just realized that I love this office so much, he said in his heart. Hopefully There will be able to develop this company well. Pity his father who has pioneered it with great difficulty. Now I have nothing to do with the Hidayat family business anymore. I can only pray from afar, her mind alone.

He saw Karin was explaining her work to a female employee who he knew as one of the accounting department staff. The two girls nodded and greeted themselves politely. Jonathan smiled kindly at the two of them. Then he said farewell.

Then the former number one man in the largest paint factory on the island of Java strengthened his heart to step away from the company he had developed with great difficulty. He himself still does not know next will make a living by how. What is important is that his obligation to run the Hidayat family company is now complete….

After coming home from the paint factory, Simon asked his wife a very serious question, “What do you think if my companies sell, Mila?”
