The Love of the Duda

The Love of the Duda
TCSD 10: Split

Mara, Pramono with Baskara cradled the ridge through the pitch tonight, trying to get away from the Baskara residence. They headed for a roban plinth which they believed would be the safest place to hide from Karta's men or perhaps his men. The dark atmosphere was shrouded because there was indeed no sign of life in this place. Obviously nothing because here there is only a stretch of forest that is only inhabited by night animals and maybe invisible creatures.

"Please, please stop for a moment! I'm really not strong enough to run!"

Mara slightly bent down, holding both knees that felt so sore. Not only the knees, the calves also felt so numb, because maybe from earlier the muscles in his legs he forced all-out to be able to run from the pursuit of Karta. The rags he was wearing seemed to make it more difficult for him to run fast, as a result he had to roll the cloth up high so that his footsteps could move freely. Lucky Mara wears black leggings, so she does not have to worry if she has to roll the rags up high.

Mara tried to catch her breath. He actually lost a lot of oxygen, so he had to take air through his mouth, which he believed could be more into his lungs than breathing using his nose.

Pramono sat Baskara on a large rock not far from where he stands today. The man also seemed to feel so tired. His breath also sounded irregular. Perhaps it was all the effects of the burden of Baskara's body that he carried.

"We need to run away from this place immediately. I'm worried that soon the Karta master or his men will find out where we are."

"Wait, who are you really? And why do you want to help me and my father?"

There was a question in Mara's heart about who the good man who helped her was. Because during her stay in this village, Mara never saw this man wandering around her. Either because the man never wanders around his residence or because Mara is too busy with her work that makes her indifferent to the people around her.

Pramono commented a little of his smile. "I'm Pramono, a confidant of Karta."

Mara's eyes were wide and perfectly rounded. His mouth was slightly gaping as if signaling someone who was being shocked half to death. "The Karta master confidant? B-but why did you even betray the Karta master by helping me to run away from the Karta master?"

"If you ask that, it could be until tomorrow I just finished telling Ra. And it's gonna be very dangerous for us."

"Please tell me the outline. Why would you help me?"

Although this man had helped her, Mara was still a little frightened in her heart. Mara is afraid if there is something veiled behind the goodness that Pramono has done this.

Pramono sighed deeply. "This is one way I can repay your mother Ra's kindness!"

Mara's forehead frowned slightly. "Mother? What did my mother ever do to you?"

Pramono's eyes glared slightly. It was like remembering something. Because it basically happened a long time ago. "Your mother used to pay my late mother's debt to one of the leeches here. My mother and my mother were good friends with Ra. Because he's both a sinden."

"Then, how can you be an accomplice to the Karta master?"

"I really needed a job. I used to work at Karta's house as a janitor. I try my best to do the job. The Karta master appreciated my work so much that I was finally appointed as the right-hand man."

"Then how did you know that the Karta master was going to marry me? And I am the daughter of Paramitha Andadari, who helped your mother?"

Pramono smiled knot. "Karta Juragan always told me about anything. From there I knew, the young girl that the Karta boss wanted to edit was you, the son of the woman who helped my mother to get out of her problems." Pramono momentarily paused his words to sigh deeply. "Therefore, I have this plan to be able to take you away from the entanglement of Karta."

Mara's heart warmed up a little. In his eye pelupuk already inundated clear circles that were ready to fall down showering his cheeks. Never did he expect, that the kindness of the mother in the past, now gets its rewards. Surely a Mara's own safety reward.

"Thank you so much for helping us."

Pramono chuckled small. "Don't talk formally like that. We may only be about five years old, so from now on we can be friends."

"All right Pram!"

Pramono smiled faintly hearing Mara calling him 'mas'. I don't know what he felt in the man's heart, but it seems he was very happy to be closer to Mara.

A flashlight spotlights, disturbing the senses of vision Mara, Pram and also Baskara. They threw eyes at each other as if thinking the same thing. That their existence was already known by the Karta master or perhaps his men.

"Ra, it looks like the danger is getting closer to us" Pram said as he planned to carry Baskara's body.

"Let's get out of this place!" Mara was also ready to run again.

"Wait Ra! We're splitting! You ran to the right, and me and your father ran to the left!"

Mara flabbergasted. "But, how can we split up? I'm afraid to be in this place alone!"

"Ra trust me, with us splitting up, the chances for us to survive will be even greater. You run to the right, not far from here there are houses that you can make a temporary place to take shelter."

Pramono. He took something out of his pants pocket. "This is for you to hold. Inside here are some money sheets and also my mobile number. If it is safe, you can use this money to get to the city. We'll meet back there, you know Ra?"

"But to which city is Mas? Where should I go from the pursuit of the Karta master?"

Pram seemed to think a little. "We're going to Bogor. There we'll meet again."

"But Mas...."

"Ra, trust me. I will do everything I can to save your father. And you must also believe that the miracle of God will bring us together again."

Mara looked at the body of the father who was on Pram's back with a sad look. Mara shed her tears, because for a while, she had to separate from her father.

"Dad promised Mara that I should be safe. In a moment, we'll be back together Dad!"

Baskara was no longer able to say anything. The events that he experienced today only made him more stunned by the goodness of God given to him. Baskara could only cry and nod as a signal that he would survive the pursuit of the Karta master.

Mara wiped away the remains of her tears. "Mas Pram, I'm picking up Dad. In the city of Bogor, we'll meet, won't we?"

Pram nodded steadily. "That's definitely Ra! We'll meet again!"

"Wooiiii it's them!!! Let's chase!!!".

From a distance there were cries of some men who were none other than the men of the Karta master.

"Let's run Ra!" Said Pram giving instructions.

In the end Mara ran to the right while Pram and Baskara to the left. In this place they split up. Some of Karta's men began to pursue Mara and Pram.

As if against her fear, Mara ran through the darkness of the night which was only illuminated by a hint of light from the moon. He ran as fast as he could, ignoring whatever was on his left right. The goal is only one that is the house of the population as said by Pram who is not far from this place to be able to make it as a shelter.

But unfortunately, it seems he took the wrong path. Now he is trapped in a place where there is a waterfall that is right in front of his eyes.

"God, where am I going now? The men of the Karta boss are getting closer, if I turn around I will definitely get caught!"

Mara was busy monologuing softly while spinning her brain. He saw not far from where he stood there was a large tree that was quite shady. Mara also intends to climb the tree. He drew closer to the tree and glimpsed it closely.

"But can't I climb a tree?" Mara shook her head. "No Mara! You should be able to climb this tree. You have to hide!"

In the end, Mara starts climbing to take cover from the pursuit of Karta's men.

Oh yes... if anyone asks "Thor how the hell is Mara the same God has not met yet?" I can only answer, be patient in a moment.. It won't be long, Mara and the Gods will meet. For this novel hopefully the plot does not confuse all brothers yes. Because I did devise a storyline from the lives of Mara and the Gods respectively that would be the destiny of their meeting.

Well, I am also very sorry, because since the path of two novels, I rarely reply to comments of all brothers. Please be informed, brother. But believe me if I read all the comments of the brothers, and that's what makes me more eager to write. 😘😘😘
