THE BARA OF THE PAST

THE BARA OF THE PAST
The Blessed Wait

The second opportunity only comes to those who are ready to improve themselves and the situation. It is still believed by Dewanti Suroso. The mother of two daughters who once flung at the lowest point of her life, felt she had a second chance to make amends.

It is not without reason that he opposed the wedding plans of his eldest daughter, Liodra Audrey Suroso. The bitter pill he had swallowed decades ago, and the result was regret. Liodra must not experience the same thing as himself, mired in the bonds of marriage in the name of love. Love alone is not enough to make him happy. He would rather call it the folly of the past.

The more strongly opposed, Liodra fought back, just as he was when he was young. Sometimes the Dewanti looks like a mirror if he sees his first daughter. The girl is stubborn and always wants to get her wish, even if by fighting, that is the picture of her.

Young age makes Liodra still put forward emotions, making love as a foundation of hope to build a household like he used to be. Suddenly the memory of Dewanti revolved around events decades ago. Like Liodra, Dewanti also loved the man who later became her husband.

Just a few months acquainted with a young man named Baskoro, Dewanti has drunk kepayang. Twenty-four years ago, she was a plain and stupid girl who sacrificed so much to pursue a man's love.

A man looks ordinary but is able to catapult his mind. A simple man with a strong belief or rather a promise of heaven would be able to make him happy someday. Fine arts students as well as street artists who in the eyes of many people will not be able to have a future.

Like natural law, artisans often get scorn and do not get a place outside, let alone a place in the heart of prospective in-laws. The bond of love between Dewanti and Baskoro Sudrajat is equally not sanctioned by their parents.

However, when the frills of blind love are already entangled, to hell with people's talk. Dewanti and Baskoro were married secretly.  Although Dewanti's parents eventually found out about the marriage and were furious about her son.

Dewanti let out a long sigh, then flung it down with chest-narrowing unrest.

"Mama why daydream?" Hernowo suddenly appeared and stroked his wife's shoulder from behind.

"Why do you come home?" Dewanti grabbed Hernowo's hand from her shoulder and rubbed her husband's hand on her left cheek.

"Over now, Ma. Why don't you go up to the room, instead daydream here. Mama want to swim?" ask Hernowo.

The tall man was sitting next to his wife who was sitting in a chair near the pool. If aloof like this, it means Dewanti is facing serious problems. Although not his biological child, Hernowo also felt the turmoil of Dewanti who continued to quarrel with Liodra about marriage.

"Mama can't calm down. Do you think my mom is forcing her will too much? All this for Riva." Dewanti sought answers in the eyes of the man who married her twenty years ago.

"Papa think you should just give up. Let Liodra make his own choice. Mama had tried to advise, but she did not want to listen. Maybe he needs to learn from life."

Dewanti was silent again at her husband's reply. He did not want his life history to repeat itself. If he does not approve of Liodra's marriage, the girl could be reckless to make mistakes like she used to. Enough of him to do stupidity in the past. This is a reality for him.

Actually Dewanti herself did not understand why she was adamant against the relationship of Liodra and Devano.  He just felt something was wrong.  Dewanti did not understand, but could sense, though faint, that Devano was not Liodra's soul mate.

I don't know, maybe it's a mother's feeling. The most sensible thing to say is about their differences. Differences in social status and family background. Putting the comforts of Liodra's life into place, that's the reason that most people can understand.

"Ma, Pa, Liodra wants to talk."

Hernowo and Dewanti were surprised to see Liodra approaching them with a serious face. The heart of Dewanti beats faster. He knows that look. His gaze before deciding on a single foolishness led to regret. Liodra sat in a chair opposite Dewanti and Hernowo.

"If Mama still doesn't approve of this marriage, it may be the last Liodra is at home. From tomorrow I'll stay in the apartment."

Degh's!

"If you still want to marry Devano, you better die." It is very desirable for Dewanti to say it. However, he knew very well the child he hated and loved in the same time and body. The more opposed he will the more he will fight. Slowly the Dewanti took a breath, calming down. Again she looked at her husband. Hernowo nodded slowly.

"Alright, Devano can come to propose to you with his parents. Let me know if they're ready for a family meeting."

Finally the answer came out of the mouth of the Dewanti. Hernowo grabbed his wife's hand, giving her strength. Dewanti rose from her seat and almost staggered. Hernowo swiftly caught his wife's body.

"Mom goes to the room, gets some rest." Dewanti grabbed the briefcase lying on the table in front of her.

"Mama wait!" Liodra's voice halted Dewanti's move. Liodra approached his mother. They stand facing. It didn't take long for the two to dissolve in hugs and sobs. Dewanti relented to Liodra, but he would not give up. Giving up at the beginning is often the door to win at the end.

"Thank you, Ma. I promise I won't trouble you again after this. Thank you very much." Liodra grabs Dewanti's hand and kisses her reverence. Dewanti simply nodded slowly and immediately rushed into the room. Inside the room her tears broke in Hernowo's arms.

*

The next morning when the birds started to come out of the nest, Liodra impatiently reported the happy news to his lover. He called Devano.

"Darling, I have good news for us. I still don't believe that. I'm so happy, honey!"

Liodra dancing with excitement. A smile never leaves his lips.

"What news, Love? I just walked into the house of a prospective customer.  I'm almost there soon. What news made you almost explode like that?" ask Devano from the other end of the phone. He knew Liodra well. Although it was as strong as it was hidden, Devano could feel a happy tremor in Liodra's voice.

"Mama let you come home with your parents, baby!"

Liodra almost screamed saying the happy news. Devano could hardly believe it. Just two weeks ago, Dewanti asked her to meet and offer something so she would stay away from Liodra.

"Wow, this is really happy news, Love. Okay, we'll see you tonight at the usual place.  I have arrived at the home of the prospective customer.  Pray I'll be clossing today, so that we can raise our capital to get married."

A smile accompanied the strands of Devano's words to her lover, her heart warmed up instantly. Although there was a big question mark in his head. Why did his future father-in-law change his mind so quickly?

"Of course, honey. Hope the deal, yeah. I was also preparing to go to the store. See you tonnage. Love you." - Love you." Liodra unceasingly continued to display a happy smile. Devano is a hard worker. She had not even taken a bath, but her lover was already busy with her work. That guy is worth fighting for.

"Love you, more." Devano terminated the phone call.  Good news that burns his spirit to immediately offer his products to sell. A new car from the latest brand name. This is the customer who he visited this week. Everyone he met just asked, there was no serious sign to buy yet.

"Bismillah," he said slowly before entering the whitewashed mansion that stood gallantly at the end of the elite housing complex. As soon as the doorbell was pushed, not how long appeared a beautiful but moody girl opened the door.

"Excuse me, I have an appointment with Mr. Surya, is he home?" devano asked the girl in red and black shorts who were looking at him coldly. The girl scrunched her forehead. His eyes were keenly watching Devano. A scream was heard from inside the house.

"Zara, open the door, please. That's papa's guest!" The girl's face suddenly turned pale.
