The Adventures of Clara

The Adventures of Clara
Night Without Sleep

23:20

The night at the Adventurers Alliance Headquarters was not as lively as during the day. Even so some people will still pass by because this building is open 24 hours.

This guy is one of them. Its large body was covered in jet-black armor. He carried a battle axe, a short sword and a round shield. His weaponry was very complete as if he wanted to go to war.

He walked down a dark second-floor hallway and stopped in front of the conference room numbered 18.

There are enough people in it. Men and women of all ages, warriors or witches, with the only thing in common is that they are all combat ready. Some were friends of black-spirited men, some were familiar faces but rarely interacted with, while the rest were completely unfamiliar. If the man's guess was correct, all the adventurers in this room should be conqueror class.

The man chose to sit next to the short-bodied old man. They often drink and adventure together.

"Carlie, you need some pocket money?" whispered old man, Odhor.

"It's only number two."

"Kehehe, it never changes, this you. Want to hear something interesting? Earlier on the circus run I saw the famous detective Delta Greyhorn in the mayor's booth. Trust me, tonight you'll be very satisfied."

"certain. How long do you think it has been since Denia City experienced an emergency? I'm looking forward to it."

"Look. Fucking maniac. Don't you die."

“No will.”

Two hours ago the mayor declared a level 2 emergency. The Adventurers Alliance was asked to support the main forces. Well, although it seems a little adventurous is interested. Those who are here are likely in need of extra money like Odhor or a war enthusiast like Carlie.

Moments later a man in a black suit entered the room. That man is the current Alliance leader, Erick. Young, handsome, and well established. She is very popular with women. To be honest, many people were jealous of her, and Carlie was no exception.

The situation itself is very strange. A mysterious man out of nowhere manages to become the head of a branch. Six months later the same man immediately occupied the position of alliance chairman. Of course many protested. Unfortunately they all managed to be tightly silenced.

Other than after his appearance six months ago all about the man named Erick is a mystery.

Erick stood in front of the podium with the beautiful lady in reception uniform by his side.

"Thank you for coming this late. Just get to the point of the problem. The alliance received an emergency request from the mayor two hours ago. The details of the task itself are quite simple. The Alliance is required to work with the Special Knight Battalion and the city guards to capture, live or die, the six-star villain hiding in the city, Hymne Blackjack," Erick said.

Any fugitive criminals will be star labelled. Starting from one to five stars. Five-star criminals who are considered very dangerous will be given one additional star by the court.

"Have you any questions?"

"baby?" ask a witch.

The more stars a villain has, the higher the value of his fugitive. Six-star villains had already proven to be a walking disaster. Nevertheless the people in this room seem indifferent and are more concerned with the pay.

"Request comes with an official letter from the court. So money is not a problem, especially if you contribute highly."

Erick looked around. After no one thought he would ask again, he continued, "According to information from Mr Greyhorn, this criminal was the mastermind behind the Byzantine incident. It is thought to have entered the city disguised as a member of a circus troupe. The supreme leader at the operation this time was Mayor Darton. The adventurers will be led by Miss Anna. The rest, please follow Miss Anna's directions. Oh yes, I got information about another high-class criminal sighting in Denia City. So this operation probably won't go smoothly. Good luck."

After he finished his speech, Erick immediately left the room.

"Look. Busy guy," Odhor's circus.

Anna always smiled gently. She also hugged her porcelain doll, as usual. To be honest, Carlie didn't really know this woman. Odhor also has a wide information network only knows a little about it.

His existence itself is a mystery. Although not as mysterious as Erick, anyway.

Beautiful face, slim body, and often seen hugging dolls. But no one dared to underestimate him. Even the adventurers in this room were probably more afraid of him than those six-star villains.

The reason is very simple.

The adventurers belonging to the Alliance were basically being free and acting at will. But even so, they have three things that must be respected, or at least so.

The first is the Alliance Leader. Put aside first the fact the chairman is currently much disliked. The previous leaders were not random people and received respect from many circles.

The second was a legendary group of adventurers. The group that pioneered the era of adventure, with innumerable legends. They were enshrined as the eight giant pillars in the hall of the Alliance Headquarters.

The last are the Vagabonds. A nickname for the outstanding adventurer that the Alliance recognizes and is called the greatest adventurer. The adventurers peak. Their names were engraved on pillars in the Alliance Headquarters and the story of their adventures was immortalized in the book of Legendary Adventurers. The nickname Vagabond himself was originally taken from an old saying that says, "The greater an adventurer the poorer he is."

Although the origin and story of his exploits are rarely known, this woman named Anna is inevitably one of the vagabonds. Or maybe he was one of the legendary adventurers still alive.

Who knows.

Just info. When Carlie joined the Alliance, Anna was already a frequent receptionist. Even after almost 15 years had passed his face had not changed at all. It was as if the flow of time had not affected him.

A burly man who had a funny voice raised his hand. "Miss Anna, what do you think of this fugitive?"

"Totally," Anna replied, still with a perfect smile.

Just standing in front and smiling was enough to make a battle maniac like Carlie cluck in awe. And an enemy stamped by the people he admired made Carlie's blood boil even more.

"Let's finish this unnecessary conversation and go to the battlefield immediately!" carlie, without realizing.

"kehehe."

"Haha."

"Maniac oh maniac."

The room becomes alive. Some laugh, some sneer. Anna then clapped her hands softly.

"It's good if you're motivated. But unfortunately we seem to have to come a little late." Gaining a doubtful look, Anna immediately continued, "We have a guest ...."

As people questioned what this woman meant, a thumping sound was heard and continued with tremors.

"It looks like they've come."

Without the need to be told again all adventurers have taken a fighting position.

"Please leave. Think of it as a warm-up."

With a cue from Anna, the first battle of the night was about to begin.
