The first people Clarie, Ben, and Daisy encounter are the servants. They were three minutes late, but it didn't matter, it was an advantage. Renata must have arrived late and grabbed everyone's attention. Now Clarie would give it a try, and if it worked then it could be considered one of her retribution.
