Biting the last leaf of the bundle of herbs he held in his hand, he threw the stem aside. Carefully digging out the Tree Root Berry from the ground at the base of the tree, he crouched down on the ground focusing on the task, and, and he failed to realize that a black and white venomous snake was creeping through the grass towards him.
As the snake approached him, his long body pushed his head upwards and he spat out his forked tongue, hissing softly. At that moment, the venomous snake attacked, its jaws widened to bite Feng Jiu's calf.
A sudden change occurred to Feng Jiu's expression and a deathly coldness enveloped his entire being, his eyes suddenly turning extremely cold. His body revolved as fast as lightning as his hand grasped the head of the snake, the other hand grasped the snake's seven-inch vital point. His fingers tightened and with a single flick, the fingers grasping the seven-inch vital point were pushed deep into the snake's body.
“MESIS!” The snake hissed loudly and its body convulsed before falling limp.
“Oh? Silver Ring Snake?” The extremely cold aura from a moment before now felt like a momentary hallucination. He immediately returned to the appearance of lethargic laziness as he stared at the snake and laughed: “I have not seen the boar and even the little rabbit. You have to do it for now when I bake you to fill it. My empty stomach.” But, as he finished his statement, the smile on his face froze.
He just found out one big problem.. There is no fire.
Under these damp and extremely damp trees, lighting a fire through friction would not be easy at all. He did not carry a match and there was not even a firestone or a piece of coals. After all, he would not be able to have a roasted snake!
“Forget! Forget that! Just a minute more! At least I have to find a dryer before thinking of a way to start the fire.” He muttered to himself in a low voice in regret as he held the snake carcass in his hand thinking it would be useless to just throw the snake away. So, he went on to clean and cultivate the meat.
He first cut off his head, then skinned it, before removing the snake bile. He then hung the now unidentifiable piece of meat on a tree branch and wiped his soaked hands on the grass. He took out some of the stronger smelling plants and rubbed his hands firmly to remove the smell of blood from them before continuing his search.
All day, he walked alone inside, looking for plants to remove the poison from his body. He had unknowingly walked from the outer edge of the forest to go deep inside, and he was finally able to find all the herbs he needed before dusk.
Utilizing the rest of the light that allowed him to keep looking, he found a dry twig and started the most primitive way to light a fire. But because her surroundings were damp and wet, she spent nearly two hours tirelessly before she managed to light a fire. His hands blistered badly due to his efforts, but when he buried his teeth into the roasted snake meat, everything he did suddenly seemed worth it.
After finding all the herbs he needed for the antidote, and his stomach filled up, he proceeded to pound the herbs he found in the afternoon and apply them to his body. Then he put out the fire and climbed a tall tree, to find a comfortable place for him to get a good night's rest.
Being in a place like this, and alone, he was unable to keep the fire burning. Otherwise, when night fell, he could easily be targeted by ferocious beasts, and he was not really full of energy at that moment to attack them. Thus, even when the branches high in the trees were cold and he had no fire to warm them up, he would choose safety over comfort without thinking.
As expected, as darkness fell, the howls of wolves reached his ears that rang through the forest, echoing coldly in the darkness, which pushed fear into the hearts of men.
As for Feng Jiu, his eyes were closed as he fell into a deep sleep, seemingly treating the long howls in the forest as his nightly lullaby.
Of course, he would also not realize that on top of a tree not too far away, a dark shadow figure had observed his every action in this extremely dangerous forest..
