Astuti Yuli.
He was my best friend when I was a kid. As my family's economy deteriorated, my father chose to take us home to my mother's hometown. At least the grandfather of the mother had some fields of palm oil yard that could be used as a place to make a living, so my brothers and I had to be willing to leave our old school.
For 2 years apart, he became a pen's best friend. Sheet after letter represents our feelings of longing for each other. At first it was all so beautiful, that eventually trouble happened when I went back to the same school as him.
I managed to achieve a class star degree in the first semester since my move and accidentally made Yuli rank change to second, that was the beginning of the problem that occurred. He began to avoid me by choosing a different sitting buddy as the new semester began, at the time of his final year in Elementary School.
I thought it was because we were awkward about that 2-year breakup and thought that for 2 years it was enough for him to have a better friend than me. But when the school only sent me alone to participate in various Olympade events, Yuli further clarified her dislike for me. He's changed.
The last year in Elementary School, we were in a bad state. We started to compete and began to show dislike blatantly. After graduating from Elementary School, I never met him. Yuli went to a prestigious school in the city while I went to the best school in my village, my family did not have the cost to send me to a city like Yuli but I was quite satisfied to enter through the scholarship path at my school.
My daydream suddenly stopped when I found Reza standing straight in front of me. I was still in a daze for a while. Suci and I sat at the table, and Nurul and Shafa were ordering food for us.
“You are very loyal to your friends,” Reza said later.
“Ah! Sorry Senior. I'm here with my friends,” I explained to Reza. It shouldn't be a problem, right? There was nothing special between us so we had to be alone with him. Soon Reza took a seat in front of me.
The eastern canteen has a style with an outdoor concept, no walls at all, only a roof supported by beautifully carved wooden pillars, the floor is composed of the best wood and looks shiny. There are dozens of tables that have long benches on the left and right.
Previously we had chosen a table adjacent to the school garden, very cool and had a very beautiful view. There are beautiful looking flowers and various types of trees are very shady, green grass filled the school garden. This canteen is like a fancy restaurant to me.
“You why?” ask Reza towards me.
“Uh…. Nothing,” said I stopped my activities, I unconsciously continue to massage my shoulder that still feels pain and leave a sense of pain.
“Food comes..., loh! Senior is also here,” Syafa said with his spirit while putting two bowls of meatballs from both hands. Shortly thereafter, Nurul came up with another meal.
“Suci, help me bring another order,” Nurul said.
“Let me build–”
“No! You just sit down. Let me and–hei! I said don't help!” nurul said running to me.
“It's okay. I just wanted to help. What should I bring?” I said to Syafa who had held a few drinks in his hand.
“You hold this drink first, I will pay for it briefly,” Syafa said as he handed two glasses of tea-flavored drink to me.
“I'll go to our table first,” said I left Syafa in the cashier queue. While Nurul has walked first to our table with the things in his hands.
Brakkkk
Someone had purposely blocked my leg, staggered me and dropped the drink on the floor as it slipped out of my hand. I managed to maintain my body balance so as not to fall, but my heart was pounding even more in shock.
The glasses of drink had broken into thousands, the floor wet in great confusion.
“Why ask me. You are not careful if the road.” Yuli did not look at me at all, she grinned more and more satisfied with her actions.
“Stop being childish. It's not funny anymore,” I said firmly. I can't believe that my old best friend has become someone as unfeeling as he is today.
But there was no answer to what I said to him. Yuli ignored me even more, joking and laughing with her friends at the dinner table. While some of the other students had been staring at me with strange gazes.
“Do not move,” said someone who suddenly bowed in front of me.
“Reza! Do not hold the glass shards, let the janitor clean,” said Yuli suddenly. She looked agitated when she saw Reza bending over and cleaning up the glass shards around me, whereas I only fell silent in my own shock when I found out that someone was Reza.
“It's okay, Senior. Let me clean,” I said crouched down to reach for the broken glass.
“I told you not to move!” Reza yelled at me. Oh God! What the hell is going on here. I'm afraid I don't even dare to look at Reza in the slightest.
“…”
“I told you, don't move. Don't touch anything, you can get hurt,” continued Reza in a soft voice restraining emotions a moment ago. My previous fear dissipated with his current tone of voice, restoring my composure. Moments later, the janitor came to help clean up the mess I had made.
“Reza,” call Yuli sounds smoother. He looked even more confused as Reza did not heed his words. Yuli looks familiar with Reza, she already called Reza just by name. Maybe they knew each other before. Ah..., why do I always make my own assumptions about anyone who looks close to Reza. I curse myself at this moment.
After the cleaning party came, Reza quickly grabbed my hand to get up from the squatting position. “Do not do anything at school. You should know the limits,” Reza told Yuli then pulled me away.
“You're okay, Zytha?” My friends came over with anxious feelings.
“It's okay,” I said as I tried to let go of Reza's grip but the grip was tight. Keep pulling me up to our dining table before. My shoulder is getting sore, Reza pulled right on my hand that had a shoulder injury.
“What exactly is with him? Even earlier he had deliberately hit you when out of class,” said Nurul increasingly furious. His body and eyes were right on Yuli who was glaring sharply at our table.
“Why did he hit Zytha?” ask Reza towards Nurul. Reza didn't intend to ask me because she probably knew that I might not be able to answer.
“Entah, he suddenly came from a different direction and then deliberately bumped into Zytha. His shoulder until the injury,” explained Nurul while glancing at the hand that was massaging my shoulder slowly.
A moment later, Reza looked at me sharply. Like getting myself to have lied before.
“Come to UKS,” said Reza in a hurry.
“Ke UKS later only. I'm hungry,” I said asking for understanding that eating today is more important than the UKS. Reza himself knew that I had not eaten since the first break.
“Gio!” Call Reza to the apprentice who is serving the next table.
“Iya, Reza. What message do you want?”
“Menu as usual, for two people. Don't forget the Chocolate ice one. Don't be long!”
