The story starts from a place that is very remote from the capital. It was called Gauses, the farm. And the capital's only food source.
GECK! GECK! GECK!
“Build! Basic slacker!”
“Iya, Yes.”
I opened the door, rubbed my eyes. Huh huh? Veys? “What's Vey?”
He tapped his feet quickly as his finger pointed at the wall clock that was visible from my room. I nodded, picked up a towel from behind the door, then exited the room, walked towards the back of the house.
“So, I want to take a shower can I?” Aarav ran small, slightly looking up at my face. His eyes are a little twinkling.
I nodded, smiling knot.
...----------------...
Aarav and I put a towel on the back hanger of the bathroom door.
“Aarav.”
“Ya Brother?” He's looking up.
I looked at him smiling, “You want a warm bath or cold water?”
He thought for a moment, “Warm water only Brother. It's still early in the morning.” Then smile.
I exhaled (not the last), igniting a water faucet that miraculously turned it into warm water.
For those who don't know, our bathroom faucets are three. The rightmost water is cold, the middle one is ordinary, and the leftmost one is hot.
Because Aarav wanted warm water, I put a big bucket on the hot water tap. A few minutes later after the bucket was filled by a quarter, I moved to the usual water faucet. So warm it can be one bucket.
After the bucket was full, Aarav and I took off our clothes and pants, and took a shower.
“Nih Aarav, the soap.”
“Iya Kak, thanks.” Aarav took his soap.
“Oh yes Brother, can I join Sister training not in the forest?” Aarav plucks any topic.
I rinsed the soap on my body with water, then turned my head towards Aarav, “Eh? Why why anyway? Tumben-tumbenan Aarav wants to join the training. Yesterday I invited Brother, but Aarav instead refused.”
Aarav scratches his head, “Hehe, because Aarav wants to be strong like Brother. Tuh see, Sister's body is good, surely the exercise is not kidding.” Aarav grinned wide.
“Hm? Okay, but light exercise first. Judging from anywhere, Aarav is still a child of eight years old.” Aarav's knot face was extinguished, this time it was me who was grinning wide.
“Ih! I'm an adult know! Look, I'm not a kid anymore!” Haha! He started again.
I rubbed his messy hair, “Iya, yes. You are an adult.”
“And stronger right?” Pips ballooning.
“Iya, yes. And more powerful.”
We continue the last bath activity– toothbrush. Aarav and I took a worn toothbrush, put it on toothpaste. Then brush our teeth while facing the mirror.
“Then out of this what sister?” Aarav asked with his mouth still foaming due to toothpaste.
I laughed, a little bit choking. “Follow Sister. After that, you just spit it out here. Puh, then gargle. Finish.”
Aarav nodded, doing as I told him.
Our shower is over. I took a towel, and so did Aarav, drying our bodies wet with water.
“Can you Kak?” Aarav asked once more, making sure.
I nodded, telling him to put on his clothes first. Because after this, I, Vey, Aarav, and a few friends after the orphanage will visit the Church for worship.
...----------------...
Fifteen minutes done, dressed up. But how come Aarav hasn't shown up yet? It was nine o'clock. I decided to knock on Aarav's bedroom door. After several times I knocked on the door and called out his name, Aarav finally opened the door of his room.
I stared full inquiring, “Eh? Why are your eyes like you just woke up? Do you not fall asleep? Yes?”
Aarav gave a thin grin, then scratched his messy hair. “Yes already, Brother help trim your hair and clothes that.”
The ten minutes I spent were not felt in Aarav's room which was originally asleep on the bed, with stale saliva dripping on his shirt. Not forgetting her messy hair. And after I helped replace her clothes and comb her hair. Now, he's absolutely the world's most beautiful sister.
“OK, it's neat. Let's leave. Don't waste time, I'm sure you'll end this mad Vey sister. Keep saying ‘Why slow? What time is it? Where there is a history God likes people who are late’ and blah, blah, blah..” I followed Vey's chatty style.
Aarav chuckled, smiling knots. “Yes too yes. Definitely today Brother Vey angry big.”
...----------------...
“From this story, there is no way we are told to obey God? Or the other one? Being sent to church every week?” The tetam stopped the movement of his hand which became an illustration.
Dad chuckles, “Of course not Son. This story is more exciting than the spiritual stories, baby. Okay, I'm continuing the story, but the outline is all. Dinner is almost ready tuh.”
...----------------...
After finishing worship, Gerald and Aarav ask their nanny (parent in the orphanage) for permission to go to the forest. They allowed it, on condition that Aarav take good care. Then Gerald agreed, then the two men went to the forest where Gerald used to practice sword and physical.
On the first day, Aarav was trained only to do movements such as push-ups and the like.
On the second day, the same. Until it was even a month, Gerald raised the level of difficulty of his physical training.
At first Gerald had Aarav swing his sword, but his strength was too weak. As a result, the sword that Aarav swung was unbalanced and always fell to the ground.
While training Aarav, Gerald also did not forget his daily life in the forest. Yep, physical exercise and swordsmanship. No half-hearted, once Gerald exercises, not enough to feel until sweat poured all over his body.
One month, there was no significant change from Aarav. Two months, three months the same.
Four years was not felt. Now Gerald was twenty years old, while Aarav was twelve.
Gerald from the beginning, he had been determined to become one of the greatest warriors in the Royal Capital. And Gerald was forced to leave where he grew up from childhood until now. And also Aarav, whom he had already considered a disciple as well as the person he cared about the most.
He left Aarav with a sword he gave, for a memento.
Gerald packed up and brought a week's worth of supplies from his mother to get to the capital. The annual test for every resident who wants to become a Royal warrior begins.
