Ki Jatirekso growled fiercely watching the corpses lay in the courtyard. No less than twenty people were covered in blood. There was only one wound on each corpse, but it was very wide and deadly. Ki Jatirekso turned his body, and stepped into his house, followed by Suryadenta and his three younger siblings. While Jaka Wulung cleaned up the bodies that were lying down, with the help of some residents.
Inside the house was waiting for Ki Karangseda, Ki Pungkur, Sanggabawung and Sangga Kelana. They looked at Ki Jatirekso who had come with the four brothers. Then they sat down to a large round table and covered in white marble that glittered like glass.
"You'd better be honest, Ki Jatirekso. Do you want the entire village to run out, just because of your arrogance?" the cold and vibrating voice of Ki Karangseda.
Ki Jatirekso stared intently at the man who was the same age as him. A tense atmosphere enveloped the spacious room. The death of twenty guards, made the elders of Kali Anget Village peak in anger. More so seeing the village chief who was like keeping one secret, which led to all these tragedies.
"What's behind all this?" ask Ki Pungkur.
"Tell me the truth, Ki. We are all on your side" urged Sanggabawung.
"Unless the matter is very personal, I take my hands off" continued Ki Karangseda.
"Sorry, I want to rest first" Ki Jatirekso said as he got up.
"Ki...!" sentak Ki Karangseda.
Ki Jatirekso stared intently at Ki Karangseda, then stepped out of the room. They looked with astonishment at the attitude of the village chief. There must have been something very heavy that had happened to him. Something that has now asked for quite a lot of victims.
Brak!
Ki Karangseda kicked the table hard. Both of his eyes were fiery red. He looked at the faces that were also staring at him.
"This state, we cannot let go on! Are we gonna stand idly by and watch the residents one by one die?" ki Karangseda's voice was full of emotion.
"We can't do anything before we know the real problem" Suryadenta said.
"Obviously, all this has to do with Ki Jatirekso. What else to know?" ki Karangseda Sentak.
"Many!" suddenly a voice came from the door.
All heads immediately looked. Jaka Wulung stepped towards them, his eyes staring intently at Ki Karangseda who was propped up on the lips of the table. Jaka Wulung stopped and stood behind the four brothers. For a moment he watched the faces in front of him one by one.
"There is still a lot to know, but not from my father's cause" said Jaka Wulung flatly.
"You know, why don't you say it from the beginning?" ki Karangseda's tone of voice sounded cynical.
"Why don't you just say, Ki?" reply Jaka Wulung no less fierce.
Ki Karangseda flinched. Suddenly his face turned red. While his eyes were still sharply staring at Jaka Wulung. But Jaka Wulung retaliated by not losing sharply.
"You must know this weapon. In this village, only one has!" Jaka Wulung threw the silver merfolk on the table.
All eyes stared at the silver merfolk, then turned towards Ki Karangseda. Although her father never told her, but Jaka Wulung could recognize, who the weapon belonged to. He picked it up when dumped by his father with a palm leaf that read red letters. He also showed shabby lontar leaves squeezed by his father.
The more red face Ki Karangseda, see the writing on the leaf lontar. He's back one act. While those in the room stared intently for an explanation at Ki Karangseda.
"What are you throwing guns at us for?" jaka Wulung asked coldly and flatly.
"The weapon is mine, but I'm not the one who threw it" Ki Karangseda denied.
"Where have you been, all day?" jaka Wulung asked as if judging.
"I'm with Ki Pungkur" said Ki Karangseda.
"Right, from morning until now, he was with me in Pak Rahim's shop," Ki Pungkur confirmed. "Even Sanggabawung and Sanggakelana were there too."
Jaka Wulung looked at the siblings he mentioned by name. They nodded their heads in allowing. While Ki Karangseda smiled thinly triumphantly looking at Jaka Wulung.
"Well, this issue should not be extended. There are still many severe problems that must be addressed immediately" said Ki Pungkur to divorce.
"Hm..," Jaka Wulung muttered cynically.
"I'll excuse you first" said Ki Pungkur while getting up.
Ki Karangseda also left the room, following in the footsteps of Ki Pungkur who had reached the door. Not long after the two old men had passed, Sanggabawung invited his sister to leave the room as well. For a moment he looked at Jaka Wulung, then patted him on the shoulder. Then step outside. Now lives Jaka Wulung, Suryadenta and his three younger siblings.
"When did you find this gun?" tirtadenta asked after a long silence.
"So, before, I found twenty guards dead" said Jaka Wulung, sitting beside Suryadenta.
"That means just now" murmured Suryadenta quietly.
"Yes. The weapon was directed at me" Jaka Wulung said.
"Hm.., in this village, it is only Ki Karangseda who has such weapons, but now there are many martial artists here. And it is impossible for any of them to have a weapon like this" Mayadenta muttered somewhat.
"The type of weapon can indeed be the same, but there must be its own characteristics to recognize who the owner is" Bayudenta argued.
"Yes!" suryadenta. The eldest brother of the four brothers picked up the silver merfolk lying on the table. He watched it for a moment, then gave it to his three sisters.
"The flow of jasmine indicates that this silver merfolk belongs to Ki Karangseda" said Suryadenta.
"Yes, the jasmine is the symbol of her power. I'm sure, no one but Ki Karangseda has a weapon carved with jasmine flowers" Mayadenta continued.
"Hm..., then, what did he mean?" bayudenta.
For a moment they all just fell silent. All sorts of thoughts and conjectures raged in their heads. Every now and then their eyes stared back at the silver merfolk and the flashing leaves on the table. It is difficult to find the right reason, by linking Ki Karangseda's involvement in this issue.
********************
Early in the morning, when the new sun was shining, two people were walking towards the village of Kali Anget. One was a young man wearing a white vest. On his back, there was a sword weapon whose hilt was in the shape of a bird's head. The other is a beautiful young woman and wearing a tight blue shirt, to form her body looks slender.
Seen and the clothes and weapons they bear, they are the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti and the Fan of Death. Rangga or Pendekar Rajawali Sakti invites Pandan Wangi to enter a store that has been opened. No guests were seen in this tavern, except the two of them. Rangga chose a place slightly to the corner, and near a large window that I directly faced out.
An old man approached with a bow. Rangga immediately ordered food and a jar of sweet wine. Then the old man of the tavern owner nodded and passed away leaving the table. Not long after, he returned with his guest's order.
"What's the name of this village, sir?" ask Pandan Wangi.
"Kali Anget Village" said the Old Man was brief.
"It looks like a lot, is this village going to have a celebration?" asked Rangga who had been observing outside.
"No idea, Sir. Indeed in a few days many people come here, even staying all. Father's house just hired them to stay overnight, yaaah.kadap father and family sleep in this store."
"Hm..," Rangga frowned.
"Excuse me, you want to go back first" said the Old Man.
"Please, sir," said Pandan Wangi.
They immediately ate quietly. Sometimes Rangga looked out through the large open window. Seen in front of the store have many people back and forth with their respective busyness. Swordsman Rajawali Sakti slightly furrowed his forehead, seeing many people who bear weapons of various shapes and sizes. It is clear that in the village there are many people from the jungle.
"Is there anything that catches your attention, Kakang?" asked Pandan Wangi who also set his eyes outside.
"Yes" said Rangga sighing. Rangga's attention immediately shifted, when there were four People entering the store. One of them was a beautiful young woman. On his waist was wrapped in an ivory yellow scarf. The other three, holding a sword at the waist. They immediately sat not far from the seat of Rangga and Pandan Wangi. The shopkeeper immediately approached with a respectful sika.
"As usual, Mr. Rahim," said one of the men who turned out to be Suryadenta.
Just a moment Mr. Rahim to the back. Then come back again with a large tray full of food and drinks. Mayadenta helped Rahim prepare food at the table.
"Before, sir," stop Suryadenta when Mr. Rahim wants to go back.
"Sit here first" said Tirtadenta.
"What's up, Den?" ask Mr. Rahim while sitting next to Bayudenta.
"Did you see Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur here yesterday?" ask Suryadenta Iandung.
"No, Den," said Rahim after thinking for a while.
Suryadenta looked at his three younger siblings in turn. Yesterday Ki Karangseda said that he had been here all day with Ki Pungkur. The owner of the store said he didn't see them yesterday.
"If Sanggabawung and Sangga Kelana, did Mr Rahim see them yesterday?" ask Tirtadenta.
"Well! If they were, all day here, Den. Even until called they just went outside," he said who called the village chief," said Pak Rahim.
"They're just the two of them?" tanya Bayudenta.
"Yes, and there are a few more people. But they are immigrants who rented my house" said Mr Rahim.
"So, Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur weren't here, yesterday?" Mayadenta wants to make sure.
"Yes, Ni. They're not here. If last night, they were here, it would not be long. Because then they went again with a woman and two men."
"Sir Rahim knows them?" pursue Suryadenta.
"No, Den. But they seem to be from the military. The woman is old, but still looks beautiful. Being male, still young," said Pak Rahim plainly.
"Thank you, sir," Suryadenta said.
Rahim nodded slightly, then went to the back. Suryadenta observed the surroundings. Then his gaze stopped on Rangga and Pandan Wangi who were busy enjoying their food, as if not listening to the conversation earlier. Suryadenta turned his eyes back to his three younger siblings.
"I became suspicious..," muttered Tirtadenta quietly.
"yes, I don't understand either. Why did Ki Karangseda give false information?" bayudenta muttered.
"I'm sure, this has something to do with the coming of the jungle figures here. And for sure, it has to do with Ki Jatirekso!" mayadenta said steady.
Suryadenta blinked his eyes side by side. And with the tail end of his eyes, he hinted, there were two people sitting not far from them.
At once they glanced at Rangga and Pandan Wangi. The conversation stopped instantly. Suryadenta blinked his eyes again, then they immediately enjoyed the dishes that had been available since. However, the corner of their eyes did not escape observing two people not far from where they ate.
Feeling himself observed continuously, Rangga rose up followed by Pandan Wangi. The Rajawali Sakti swordsman immediately put three pieces of silver on his desk, then stepped outside the shop. Seeing his guests leave, Mr. Rahim in shock immediately approached the newly abandoned table of Rangga and Pandan Wangi. The old man gawked at the three pieces of silver money lying on the table.
"Ck ck ck..., money this way anyway, can to buy a goat," he murmured slowly while shaking his head.
Rahim put the money in his pocket immediately. After cleaning the table of his former guests, then he stepped back to the back with a radiant face. Hownot? The money given by Rangga is so much, and does not match the price of food.
********************
Rangga immediately stopped stepping, as soon as he arrived in front of the fence of the courtyard of the Village Head Kali Anget. A moment to observe the house that looks lonely. Then Rangga took Pandan's hand. Smell, and take her by.
The village of Kali Anget, has now been completely filled with immigrants, so that all lodging houses do not have a single room empty. Even the homes of the residents were forced to be rented. Therefore, even though Rangga and Pandan Wangi have traveled around the village, but not one house is rented anymore. Rangga was more surprised by the state of this village.
"How, Pandan? There is no place to spend the night here," Rangga asked Pandan Wangi for his opinion.
"Well, what can I do...?" Pandan Wangi shrugged his shoulders.
"It takes a week to get to the next village" Rangga said.
"Huh! Tired of it, sleep in the open!" rumpul Pandan Fragrance. "After two weeks, we explored the forest and slept in the open. Just taking a break or two is hard!"
"You're sorry?" ask Rangga.
"Why is it so pouting?"
"It's okay," Pandan Wangi was annoyed, because the shadow of sleeping on a soft bed disappeared just like that.
Though at first he was excited to see the village, it was not the joy obtained, but even frustration. Because all the inns are filled.
Their steps stopped, as they were blocked by two old men in robes. The attitude of two people who are none other than Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur, clearly blocking Iangkah Rangga and Pandan Wangi. They stood upright in the middle of the road without moving a single bit.
Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur immediately stepped three acts closer towards Rangga and Pandan Wangi stopped. While Rangga glanced to the right, and it appeared that two more people were already standing there. They were armed with huge machets tucked in each other's waists.
Apparently they are none other than, Sanggabawung and Sangga Kelana. Both are young, maybe the same age as the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti or less. There was a thick sideburn that almost filled their faces, thus making her look even older.
"Sorry, can we continue our journey?" sapa Rangga seramah perhaps.
"Who are you and what do you want to come here?" ki Karangseda asked flatly, but his gaze sharply looked at Rangga's face.
"I'm Rangga, and this is my sister, Pandan Wangi. We were travelers who happened to pass by in this village," said Rangga remained polite.
"Where's your goal?" ask Ki Pungkur.
"Nothing" said Rangga frankly.
Ki Pungkur glanced at Ki Karangseda, then his head gnawed a little. Soon Sanggabawung and Sangga Kelana stepped out of the place. While Rangga only glanced for a moment, then looked back at the two old men in front of him who were still blocking.
"You better get out of this place soon" Ki Karangseda said unhappily.
Rangga smiled and nodded. He took Pandan Wangi's hand and stepped back. While Ki Pungkur shifted his legs giving way. The two old men still continued to look at Rangga and Pandan Wangi who continued to walk towards the West. Soon after Ki Pungkur approached Ki Karangseda.
"You see the weapon that the young man brought, Ki Karangseda?" ki Pungkur's voice.
"Yes," Ki Karangseda replied somewhat sighing.
"Seeing from the hilt of his sword, like that of the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti," Ki Pungkur surmised.
Ki Karangseda looked at Ki Pungkur who was standing beside him. Then his gaze turned to the end of the road, where Rangga and Pandan Wangi turned to the right earlier.
"I'm sure, he must be the Swordsman of Rajawali Sakti," said Ki Pungkur so surely.
"Broker Rajawali Sakti is always alone," Ki Karangseda half muttered.
"But, the youngster's traits are very similar to the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti!" Ki Pungkur insisted.
"Ah, stop! He can't possibly show up here. The last news I heard, he was in the Eastern region" Ki Karangseda denied.
"But...."
"ah! Stop, come!" Ki Karangseda cut fast.
Ki Karangseda withdrew Ki Pungkur's hand, and walked towards the village chief's house.
********************
"Come, hurry! Don't be late!" suryadenta exclaimed while jumping from his hiding place.
His three brothers followed him immediately. They ran quickly to the end of the road that had two turns. From the way they run, it can be ascertained that the knowledge possessed is quite high. In a moment they were invisible.
They stopped immediately after reaching the border. Kali Anget Village. A thick forest stretches out in front. Up here, the road had already been cut off by the huge river flowing down. There was not a single boat in sight, only a raft connected with the mine to the other side.
"Maybe they've crossed over, Kakang," said Tirtadenta.
Suryadenta did not answer. His eyes were staring across the river. No one was on that raft. Then his eyes looked around him. Suddenly his eyes narrowed slightly, as soon as he saw the footprints stamped on the banks along the river. The footprints lead to the estuary, and this means returning to Kali Anget Village.
"Follow me!" suryadenta exclaimed somewhat brightly on his face.
They walked quickly down the river bank towards the estuary. The footprints were clearly those of two people walking side by side. For a moment they stopped walking, because the footsteps that followed just disappeared.
"Sorry, is there anything you're looking for?"
The four brothers were not the reeds of the braids in shock, as soon as they heard a sudden voice from behind. They immediately jumped back. Now in front of them stood Pendekar Rajawali Sakti and Pandan Wangi.
"If it's not wrong, the four of you are in the ass. Is true?" Rangga was polite with a smile on his lips.
"Yes," Suryadenta said.
"Lantas, what do you mean by following our journey?" ask Rangga.
"I'm sorry, if we're intruding. But we mean well to you" Suryadenta said.
"Hm..," Rangga furrowed his brows.
"Are you the Swordsman of Raj at the beginning of Sakti?" tanya Bayudenta was impatient.
Rangga did not immediately reply, he looked at the four people in front of him. Then his gaze turned to Pandan Wangi beside him. Bayudenta's questions made him think.
"Maybe we misjudged, please Ni and Kisanak continue on the way," Suryadenta said as he moved his hand, then turned around and walked away from the place.
"Wait!" prevent Rangga.
Suryadenta. While Rangga approached them, followed by Pandan Wangi.
"May I know, why are you looking for the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti?" ask Rangga to investigate.
"Do Kisanak know, where is the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti?" ask Suryadenta does not publish Rangga's question.
"I will show you if you want to tell me why" said Rangga.
Suryadenta looked at his three younger siblings. All nodded slowly, agreeing to Rangga's proposal. "Well, I can't explain in detail. But, if you want to know everything, you can meet Ki Jatirekso or Jaka Wulung," said Suryadenta.
"Hm..., who are they?"
"The village chief and his son. Their house is the largest in the village. I'm sure you've already passed it" Bayudenta said.
"Then, do I have to ask the village chief first?"
"Yes!"
"Come, Pandan!"
Rangga immediately jumped fast. Pandan Wangi followed him. As soon as they passed, in an instant it had already vanished from sight. The four people who witnessed it were just gawking.
"What now, Kakang?" ask Tirtadenta.
"We have to go to the village chief's house, but in a discreet way" Suryadenta said.
"I'm sure, he must be the Swordsman of Rajawali Sakti. Not many people could disappear so quickly," Mayadenta said half muttered.
No one responded to Mayadenta. They continued to walk quickly towards Kali Anget Village. Their goal is certain, namely to the house of the village chief. But Suryadenta took a detour.
"We'd better come blatantly, Kakang," Mayadenta suggested
"No! We need to know what's really behind all this. And only in this way can we know everything that happened!" protest Suryadenta.
"But, are our actions not wrong?" Mayadenta still disapproves.
"For the sake of truth, all means must be pursued."
"Too big a risk, Kakang."
Suryadenta looked at his youngest brother. "Alright, you and Tirta are coming from the front. But be reasonable, Bayu and I will sneak in from behind," said Suryadenta could understand the concern of his only sister.
"But if anyone asks you?" ask Tirtadenta.
"Let's say, I'm at the village line!" suryadenta replied without a second thought.
"Come, Bayu!"
Mayadenta can't prevent it anymore. He could only look at the passing of his two brothers. Then he complied when his hand was taken by Tirtadenta. Now they are separated into two parts with their respective tasks. Mayadenta himself still could not understand the mind path of his eldest brother. But he must obey, so that all the plans in Suryadenta's head can run smoothly.
********************
Ki Karangseda seemed to grunt when he came out of the village chief's house. Highlight his sharp eyes looked at Mayadenta and Tirtadenta who flashed in the courtyard of the house. For a moment they looked at each other, then Ki Karangseda continued to step followed by Ki Pungkur. Mayadenta was still staring at the two old men, and only stepped when his hand was taken by Tirtadenta.
The two brothers continued to step in through the deserted vestibule. Soon, they saw Jaka Wulung sitting alone in the middle room. Jaka Wulung immediately raised his head, upon hearing the approaching footsteps.
While Mayadenta and Tirtadenta sat directly in front of the village chief's son, without waiting was welcome first.
"I had to see Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur" Tirtadenta said, opening his voice first.
"What are they doing?" ask Jaka Wulung.
"Nothing" said Mayadenta, shaking his head. "But they seem to be upset. What's up?"
"They urged me" said Jaka Wulung slowly. There was unease on his face
"What do they want?" ask Mayadenta to know.
"Head!"
"Head...?!" Mayadenta and Tirtadenta are shocked not to play. For a while they looked at each other.
"Whose head?" mayadenta asked with a frown.
"Broker Rajawali Sakti!"
Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight, Mayadenta and Tirtadenta jumped so shocked. They looked at each other again. For a long time, no one spoke a word. Tirtadenta increasingly do not understand, why Ki Karangseda and Ki Pungkur want the head of the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti? Can't they measure the height of mountains and the depth of the ocean?
Everyone knows who Rajawali Sakti Swordsman is. Although they have never seen it directly, but the news they hear is enough to make the hair goosebumps. Until now, there has not been a single figure who is able to match his magic. How could he possibly get his head?
"What does Ki Karangseda want with that swordsman's head?" ask Tirtadenta.
"I don't know. But he kept urging me to find and behead the swordsman" said Jaka Wulung.
"Why should you?" mayadenta is worried.
"I.., I..," Jaka Wulung seemed confused to answer.
Tirtadenta and Mayadenta looked at each other. They sensed that something was amiss within the village chief's son. It looks like Jaka Wulung is helpless against Ki Karangseda's insistence. What is the real secret behind all this? That question has been plaguing the mind of Tirtadenta and his sister all this time.
"Say, Jaka! Why would Ki Karangseda want you to face the Swordsman Rajawali Sakti?" tirtadenta.
Jaka Wulung was still confused to answer.
"Is he threatening you?" mayadenta asked urgently as well.
