The Couvade Syndrome

Three days later

Alex's situation has improved. But still, Alex still has nausea, especially in the morning. And that made Ridwan suspicious. According to him, what Alex experienced was like symptoms experienced by pregnant women. And if that's true, then that means Alex has Couvade Syndrome or a sympathetic pregnancy

But Ridwan did not dare to conclude on his own. And it looks like he'll have to ask Alex that.

"One more time dear, one more bribe." exclaimed Diana

"No mom. I'm full."

Diana sighed and placed the bowl on the table. He looked at his son who still looked pale.

''Why is mommy looking at me like that?" ask Alex

"Mommy's scared, Al. If mommy's gone, who's gonna take care of you and take care of you when you're sick like this."

"Mom, please!! Don't start again."

"Why Al? Why don't you go along with Mommy's request? Mommy just asked you to get married. That's all."

Alex grunted softly. His head was throbbing again listening to his mother's request. He laid down his body and pulled the blanket up to the limit of his chest. "If mommy still wants to talk about it, better mommy go home to rest."

"You're expelling mommy?" screeches Diana

Alex clucked in annoyance. And after her mother left, she woke up and breathed a sigh of relief, "later mommy left too" he said

"Don't be like that Al. Aunt Diana is your mother. He just wants the best for you."

"You know exactly what answer I'm going to say, so stop wasting your energy trying to persuade me" Alex exclaimed

"No, that's not what I want to say. But it's about your situation."

Alex looked at Ridwan who looked very serious. He wondered if something had happened to him? Is the illness very severe? He was really curious. But Ridwan was busy flipping through the paper he was holding.

"Hey, say it!!! What do you want to say about my situation?" ask Alex

"Is Icha pregnant?"

He was afraid that Ridwan would calculate the age of Icha content until giving birth later. She was afraid, Ridwan would actually take Icha, after giving birth later.

"What you're going through is like a pregnant woman's symptom. You're always sick and vomiting when you're not sick. It's like morning sickness that happens to pregnant women. It's just that I think you have Couvade syndrome or a sympathetic pregnancy" Ridwan said

"Couvade Syndrome or commonly called a sympathetic pregnancy. Symptoms that occur in men, couples of pregnant women. The man will experience things that are common in pregnant women, such as nausea, dizziness, volatile moods and so forth. Your results are very good but you're still nauseous and vomiting. So I'm taking that conclusion." Ridwan sat down on the chair by Alex's bed and again said, "so, is it true that Icha is pregnant?"

Alex fell silent. In his heart he felt happy because he felt what Icha should feel. Let him not be able to meet with Icha or be next to the woman, the most important thing is that Icha is fine. And let him feel the pain when experiencing morning sickness. He considers this to be the atonement for the mistakes he once committed on Icha.
