Ep. 26 New Front Cities and Learning to Make Formations

Ali opened her eyes. His body was still lying on top of his bed in the Frozen Anvil Building in the Rockhelm fortress.

'First, see what the requirements of the Formation Master are to reach level 10.' Ali muttering.

Ali opened the search engine and typed in the keyword 'level 10' Formation Master's terms'. After searching, he finally got it.

If a herd of windwolves gets a chance, they will usually attack people who cross the forest of uppines. Therefore, often adventurers are needed to maintain the security of a caravan.

After studying the tutorial this morning, Ali tried to understand how a formation works.

What he understood from the tutorial is, a formation is formed from several nodes arranged in such a way.

Nodes are mediums that are carved on the surface and inside by mana so as to form magic symbols that have certain functions.

The first process of creating nodes is to choose the right medium. Each formation requires nodes of different numbers and types.

Currently Ali is only given by a system of 2 kinds of formations.2 This formation cannot stand alone. First is the detection formation. As the name suggests its function is to detect an object or situation within the scope of operation of this formation. Regarding the type of objects and situations that are desired to be detected, it needs to be programmed first.

The second is the alarm. Its function is to tell the formation installer that the detection formation has detected something.

Here Ali was already feeling dizzy. Ali must understand the various symbols and functions in these 2 formations.

Fortunately the system helped Ali to group and store the symbols. So that Ali can draw the necessary symbols to a medium with a pen where, by copying the template that he had previously grouped and stored.

The mana pen was a tool that the Formation Master used to depict magic symbols onto a medium. Which pen Ali had could draw symbols on a medium 1 meter thick.

Mana pens are quite expensive, for which pens can penetrate a medium as thick as 15 cm, the price is 50 deca. Since Ali had quite a lot of deka, then he bought the one that cost 500 deka. With the money Delia had previously given, Ali added 450 deka. Because the money is for all 2 team members.

Fortunately the medium for detection and alarm formation is very easy to find that is stone, so Ali easily practiced.

Ali then tried to flow mana to each node. A sign that a node is functioning properly is that which enters the symbol in the node will flow unimpeded until it exits. After checking one by one, Ali found that 3 nodes had not been created properly.

Ali then searched in the tutorial given the system. After searching, there was information that was missed.

'However I should make mana imprint to each node.' muttered Ali.

An imprint is an attempt to create a kind of signature in an object. It's just that this signature is done not with ink but mana.

The process is simple, Ali only has to draw a shape such as a circle on an object using mana.

Ali then drew a rhombus on the surface of the node he made using mana. When finished, on the surface of the previously smooth node there is a rhombus image that if Ali flows mana, the image will glow with light blue.

Ali suspected that the light blue color came from the type of spell he mastered was from the ice element.

After knowing the mana was drained, Ali then rested for a moment. It only takes about 2 minutes to restore mana to its maximum capacity.

And it turned out to be true. Ali did not know that it takes a blank shadow core to activate a formation.

The number and level of blank shadow cores used depends on the volume of the room to be covered by the formation. The type of formation also affects. The more nodes used, the greater the consumption of blank shadow cores.

To know exactly how much blank shadow core is needed to install the formation in the room with a size of 5 meters x 6 meters x 4 meters or 120 m³ Ali needs to experiment.

After Ali's mana was full again, he then made an imprint mana on all five nodes. Keep in mind, which form of imprint can not change. When Ali made the rhombus shape, Ali could not change the shape where the imprint to another form. When he finished, Ali was ready to activate the formation.

Ali then held a blank shadow core level 1 above the nodes he made, He imagined the region that would be covered by the detection and alarm formation. Once convinced, Ali then said, "activate"

Then the eight nodes for the detection formation glow at the part where the imprint Ali made, fine lines where out of each node until connected to each node.

Once connected, the eight nodes move and form a transparent beam. The eight nodes that make up the beam then move quickly to the eight ends of the room. Once in place, the nodes stay there.

Then the sound of the system

"Yes, successfully. 1 More left. 1 More to go."

The amazing thing is that 4 nodes are floating in the corner of the room. Ali understood, once activated, the energy of a formation would be provided to the environment. For a simple formation like this it would definitely be enough just with mana in the environment to keep the formation functioning.

But for complicated and powerful formations, additional energy is needed, namely a blank shadow core with a certain level for the formation to continue to function.

Ali then took out another level 1 blank shadow core and held it above the 2 alarm formation nodes. Ali then said, "Activation".

Then like a detection formation, the two fine lines of both nodes meet. One node then circles the other node like the moon circling the earth. After the node on the edge rotates three times, from the node in the middle, 8 fine lines appear and head to the 8 detection formation forming nodes. Then the sound of the system
