Danendra was confused when he got a strange question from his wife. The man who was still wearing a towel that covered the navel area until the groin was linking his eyebrows together.
"Where is our son? It's still in your stomach, right! He's even still a fetus" Danendra replied, wiping his wife's cold sweat.
"He's still here?" adeline asked as she held her stomach.
"of course. Can she move to my stomach?" ask Danendra to joke.
"Am I not .. miscarry?" ask Adeline again with a sad face.
"What are you talking about, honey? He's fine in your stomach, you know!"
"So, I .. was just a dream?" ask Adeline.
"Nendra, I dream of falling down the stairs because of running. I lost our son, Nendra!" adeline recalled the tragic incident.
"Darling, it's just a sleeping flower. From now on, never run again. Remember, you're not alone, honey."
Danendra grabbed Adeline into her arms, stroking her gently on the back of the wife who looked still frightened.
"Nendra, but right, right, it's just a dream?" adeline asked with trembling lips.
"Yes, Honey. If you don't believe me, I'll call a doctor to check on our future son" Danendra replied, kissing the top of his wife's head.
Now Adeline can breathe with relief after being convinced that the husband is telling the truth. However, a little guilt for always being selfish and always willing to win alone is now present in Adeline's heart.
The pregnant woman looked up to look at her husband's handsome face with teary eyes. His hand grabbed the burly hand of the husband who was originally in his arm to provide calmness.
Adeline clasped the burly hand tightly and kissed him for so long. "Darling, you ever regretted not having married a stubborn woman like me?" adeline asked after releasing the kiss on her husband's hand.
"Why talk like that? I never thought that you were so stubborn, honey. I love you with everything in you" Danendra said seriously.
"I'm sorry, Nendra. I promise, after this will never disappoint you again. I will trust you more than anything" Adeline said confidently.
"Right, you don't want to disappoint me?" asked Danendra who suddenly flashed something that would probably work if she asked for this moment.
Adeline nodded quickly with both corners of her lips that were commenting on a wide smile. "I promise I won't let you down, Nendra," Adeline replied without hesitation.
"Then, meet Aunty Nabila. You need to talk, honey. Give him a chance to explain everything" pinta Danendra who wants the matter between mother and child to be resolved soon.
The pregnant woman was surprised by the husband's request. However, he had already promised not to disappoint the man younger than him. Though hesitating, she complied with the husband's request.
Now, this is where Adeline is. In a guest room with a middle-aged woman who was staring at him with a mixed expression. Between sad and happy.
"Elin, can you ask me to hug you?" ask Nabila in a soft voice.
Nabila is actually ashamed of Adeline. What else after getting rejection from the pregnant woman. However, his longing for the first princess made him throw away the shame.
Adeline simply stared at the middle-aged woman in front of her without answering anything and did not react at all. That of course made Nabila lower both hands that he had stretched.
Nabila lowered her head to hide the sadness that was now more domineering.
"I need an explanation from you, Madam," Adeline said suddenly.
Nabila looked up at Adeline as the pregnant woman called her mistress. The name of it certainly makes their relationship feel further.
"Mama will explain, Elin. But please, don't call me that."
"Okay, please explain to me. What reason did you throw me into the orphanage?" ask Adeline who is still reluctant to call the woman by the name of mama.
Although sad because the princess did not seem to call him by the name he should, but Nabila still strengthen her heart to explain the truth that actually happened.
"Mama never threw you away, Elin. Mama never knew if my mother's son was a girl" said Nabila began his story.
"So, since you know your son, so you can throw away your own flesh and blood?" adeline asked with the corner of her lips raised.
"It's not like that, Elin. Listen to your explanation first," said Nabila with a headband.
"Then what was it like? Okay, now you're done with your story. I'll listen well."
Although Adeline felt like she would not believe the explanation, but Nabila still tried to tell the true events.
"When mom gave birth to you, she was unconscious, Elin. Mom was bleeding. When you came to, your grandfather told you that your son was dead." Nabila wiped the tears that came back dripping from both corners of her eyes.
"Mama was devastated at that time, mama lost a child that she had not seen what she looked like. In fact, the mother struggled alone during pregnancy until giving birth. But, what can I do? Destiny does sometimes betray us as helpless creatures," continued Nabila who slightly sobbed.
Adeline smiled wryly when she heard the explanation from Nabila. He still did not 100% believe the reason that was thrown from the middle-aged woman's mouth.
"Mama only found out a few months ago, after you married Danendra. Your grandfather who was sickly suddenly admitted the mistake he did first," said Nabila again continue the story.
Adeline's lips trembled at the sight of Nabila to the point of trouble to continue her story. It was as if he understood with the sadness felt by the middle-aged woman before him.
"At that time mama told everything to your mama-in-law, and Danendra was the one who helped mama find out about the whereabouts of mama's biological children who turned out to be not far from mama. Destiny brought us together first, Elin. Mama is grateful because mama's son-in-law is my own best friend."
"If you've known for months, why didn't anyone tell me? You guys purposely hid my true identity." Adeline interrupts Nabila's explanation.
Again Nabila shook his head violently with the roar of tears that increasingly rushing flowing from both corners of his eyes. "Mama's confused where to start, Elin. What's more now, the person who dumped you is no longer in this world."
"Have you ever asked your father why he dumped me in an orphanage?" asked Adeline in a clenched voice.
"Your sister just said, that she did it for your good, Elin. Mama doesn't know the real reason, obviously, there might be someone who's after your life at that time."
"Well, I'll try to accept your excuses. But, did my real father never try to protect his son until your father could throw me away who didn't even know anything about your intentions?"
The question seemed to be a hard slap for Nabila. How he explained about the presence of the princess not because of desire, but because of a tragic incident that happened to him on that dark night. It was the beginning of her destruction as a woman.
