Papa for My Baby

Papa for My Baby
28. Ask Azam

Mother Gia's face became sad to hear Mita's answer. He hoped that Mita would give Azam to him because she no longer had children.

“Actually we want to ask Azam. You're already married. You and your husband can have children.  We no longer have children. Arifin is no more. We are old and we cannot have any more children. Azam is our only hope,” said Ms. Gia.

“Sorry Aunt, can't,” replied Mita firmly.

Suddenly Azam could not remain silent. He stretched out his hand asking to be carried by Mita.

“Ma ma ma ma. Nye nyen,” says Azam.

“Nanti nyusu. Now Azam same grandma first.” Gia's mother rubbed Azam's head to keep Azam quiet.

Azam shook his head. “Nye nyen,” says Azam.

Seeing Azam begin to fuss Mita approached Mother Gia he took Azam from Mother Gia's lap and sat back to his seat.

“Later nyusu yes, darling. Now there are guests.” Mita gave understanding to Azam. Azam rubbed his face on Mita's chest as a sign that he wanted nyusu.

Seeing Azam who had begun to fuss at last Ibu Gia and Pak Dudi bailed home. After Arifin's parents came home, Mita immediately breathed a sigh of relief. He did not want Arifin's parents to linger in his house.

Actually Mita is afraid if Arifin's parents come to the house. Arifin's parents will definitely try to take Azam, as they have no more children.

Hisham gave an explanation of the status of the child out of wedlock to Mita. In Islamic law and KUHPata children outside marriage do not have a relationship with their biological father. Article 63 Paragraph (1) of Law number 1 Year 1974 on Marriage, further explains that children born outside marriage only have civil relations with their mother and mother's family. Hearing Hisham's explanation, Mita is no longer afraid to face Arifin's parents.

Mita threw her body onto the sofa. Azam who was in his lap hit Mita's chest.

“Nye nyen,” says Azam.

“Iya darling. Wait a minute, baby,” said Mita while unbuttoning her shirt. After that, Mita breastfed Azam.

What Mita feared had finally happened. When Mita came home from college she found a letter on the table. The letter was addressed in his name.

Letter from the court? Ask Mita in my heart. Mita opened the envelope and read the contents of the letter. The content of the letter is a letter calling Mita to follow the court hearing. Arifin's parents sued Mita for Azam's custody. When Mita was reading the contents of the letter suddenly Hisham came. He just got back from the hospital.

“Assalamualaikum,” says Hisham. Hisham approached Mita and kissed Mita's cheek.

“Waalaikumsalam,” Mita replied.

“What's first? Husband home not welcome?” Hisham rubbed Mita's back.

“This, Bang.” Mita gave the letter to Hisham.

Hisham read the letter until it was finished. Hisham sighed after reading the letter.

“You need not be afraid. The legal basis is already in place, they will not win.” Hisham put the letter on the dinner table.

“If hiring an expensive lawyer, don't you?” ask Mita.

“Why? You want to hire a lawyer?” ask Hisham.

“Mita is afraid they will win,” replied Mita, “parent Arifin is quite a person, they must have hired a lawyer in order to win this case.”

“Not to be afraid. Let's face it. Hmm.” Hisham rubbed Mita's head to calm down.

“Alright, Bang,” replied Mita.
