The Sunshine Forest was a contested territory. Ever since the decline of the World Tree, the people of the continent were living in misery. Humans, barbarians, elves, and succubi must rebuild their cities to fight against the Night Beings, and some of these early villages can be found around the Corpse Pile Graveyard, eating the territory of the Night Beings.
The Sunshine Forest was a high-level training ground outside of the early village. It was a hotspot for Night Creatures and a place for high-level players to grind out experiences.
According to official data, the Sunshine Forest was an area where monster levels ranged from 5 to 12. For players under that requirement, it is not recommended to enter. Even if a player was Level 5, they were advised to form a team first, as the forest was filled with many dangers that could be fatal.
The skill would open only when players reached Level 10, meaning that physical damage was the only source of DPS available [1] at the moment, even for cloth-based professions like Priest, Mage, and others, Tactician, and Bard. That's why melee-based classes are so popular in the early villages now, while Witches and Priests are given a cool attitude.
That being said, once players reached Level 10, entered a tier 2 main city and learned their respective skills, the Priest—especially the female Priest whom i— would instantly become the most sought after class.
……
I couldn't form a team because there was nothing suitable for me to join. Technically, I don't belong to the real Night Creatures, nor do I belong to the human alliance. I doubt the players of the Light faction would be willing to cooperate with an ugly little skeleton like me. Therefore, I can only work on solo for now.
Swished…
The sun had just risen when I stepped on the falling leaves and arrived at the Sunshine Forest. Sunlight peered through the dense foliage and branches, casting an uneven shadow on the ground. Everything seems very peaceful.
I opened the map. The search marker highlighted the Green Praying Mantises spawn area on the map, so I knew it was only a small distance ahead of me.
I was on full alert as I entered the dense forest, a sturdy sword in my thin hand. Not long after that I suddenly felt danger!
“Mendesis..”.
A sharp green blade cut through the air. Something attacked me!
Puchis!
Even the chest protector of +9 My top-level defense was unable to stop the attack from penetrating my defense. A huge amount of damage emerged from my head—41!
What a man. His attack power is insane!
I looked up and saw a green creature in armor hanging upside down on a short tree branch. It was a terrifying-looking praying mantis with a strong carapace and a pair of front legs that could turn into blades. This is the monster that just attacked me!
Green Worship Grasshopper LV-7 (General)
Hmph, Level 7? No wonder I received so much damage. Therefore, I immediately realized that it was very slow to move and act despite its impressive offensive power; it took a full four seconds to recover before attacking again, meaning killing it alone was no problem at all.
I moved in a perfect arch and arrived at the right side of the praying mantis. Then, I thrust my sword into his body!
31!
The damage given is quite decent, especially because the defense of the Green Praying Mantis is not too high. Otherwise, I would be lucky to break his defenses with this shabby sword.
A Level 7 Monster with less than 300 HP. It shouldn't take long to grind it to zero.
“Desis hissis..”
The Green Praying Grasshopper hissed loudly as it slowly turned to face me. Then, he swung his twin blades in an attempt to catch me with a brace.
I retreated from its range as smooth as water before moving behind the Green Worship Grasshopper, performing three consecutive strikes in the process. For a long time I felt comfortable leveling up; the incredible rhythm I was doing made me feel like I was in the zone. Hehe, after being tormented by a three-second brain delay for over half a year, I felt like a fish that had returned to the water.
I played around to waste the chances of the Green Worship Grasshopper attacking while scoring my own goal. The Green Praying Grasshopper may be two levels above me, but his death is certain.
Within the forest, the spectacle of efficiency and peak leveling tactics were turned on by skeletons and praying mantises. Regardless of the difference of two levels, the entire fight felt very easy.
Puchis!
After dozens of strikes and splashes of green blood, the Level 7 Green Worship Grasshopper finally let out a death throes and fell to the ground. It dropped 14 Small Magic Stones of Quality— The ugliest magic stones you can get—which probably cost about 140 copper. That's not much, but raw money is invaluable during the early stages of the game. All the skills you learn at Level 10 cost money, and not being able to afford them because one of them is poor will be frustrating to say the least.
When I threw the Little Magic Stone into my bag, I noticed that my experience improved a little. As I thought, the reward for killing monsters of a higher level than you is worth it. Afterwards, I ventured deeper into the forest and searched for the more isolated Green Praying Grasshopper to kill.
After nearly two hours of hunting, I managed to kill eighty-seven Green Praying Grasshoppers and reach Level 7. After dropping 20 points into Strength, my attack power also increased to 22~37, making killing a Level 7 Green Worship Grasshopper a breeze. Unfortunately, the deeper I go into the forest, the higher their level. In fact, a Level 10 Green Praying Grasshopper almost shot me once. With no choice, I retreated to the outer edge of the forest and hunted monsters that were Level 8 or lower. Better to be safe than sorry.
Heavenblessed's death sentence was extremely harsh. Once players reached Level 10, each death would result in the loss of one level. A dead player would turn into a soul after they died, and if they wanted to revive their corpse, they could spend one level to do so. They can also live back inside the city, but it costs three levels. It was a twenty minute trip between here and my initial village, and I had no intention of wasting my time like that.
I checked the time and noted that it was over 4am, but the server was still crowded with players. Clearly, a ton of players were still rushing despite it being hours.
I pushed myself mentally while wandering inside the Sunshine Forest. I can go back and finish my search after I have had enough murders.
As I was grinding, I suddenly heard someone talking from far away. That must be a player!
I quickly picked up the Little Magic Stone on the ground before diving into the thick bushes to hide myself. The only thing in sight was my eyes waiting for it to be untrue, I was the skeleton now, so the only thing visible was my eye socket.
There were many rustling sounds, and soon four people walked out of the forest. There were three men and one woman, and they all looked to be around twenty-five years old. The woman was a Level 7 bard, and the three men were Level 8 magic knights, Level 7 warriors, and Level 6 tacticians. It was the perfect standard powerleveling team composition, although, of course, tacticians and bards were useless before they picked up their skills.
“Three Old, are you sure the Green Worshiping Grasshopper King is here?” the soldier asked with obvious dissatisfaction. “We've been killing praying mantises for half an hour. This Level 6 praying mantis barely provided any experience! ”
The magic knight said calmly, “Bos, I'm sure we have the exact coordinates. Half an hour ago, a murderous friend of mine was shot by the boss here. He didn't want to come back to life and be killed again, so he chose to come back to life inside the city. He lost three levels and over two hours of effort as a result. ”
The soldier nodded and replied, “Hmph, I hope you are right. You buy us dinner tomorrow if it's just a waste of time, okay? ”
“Hah, no problem!”
……
The group continued to move quickly. Less than half a minute later, the magic knight suddenly raised his hand and said loudly, “Awas, he is here! I know that, hahaha!”
I saw the boss through the leaves too. A huge Green Praying Grasshopper shrouded in golden light stood not far in front of me. It swung its twin blades looking cool and impressive.
I slapped my thighs with regret. If only I had taken a few more steps! I could have found this boss before anyone! Therefore, I immediately dismissed that stupid idea. Even if I saw his boss earlier, fighting him might result in death. After all, I can't even see the boss level.
A Level 7 warrior could not help but laugh. “It looks like we got the gold today, brothers! This Green Worshiping Grasshopper King was a Level 12 F+ Rank boss and definitely the strongest boss of the early village! It will definitely drop a powerful piece of equipment once we kill it!”
Once again, the magic knight said calmly, “Please take care of your wits, boss. This is a Level 12 beast, and the highest leveled player among us is only Level 8. We haven't even learned the skill. Our chances of killing him are less than 20%!”
The soldier snorted coldly. “We should try it even if it turns out to be impossible. It is not my style to face a strong boss and do nothing.”
“Then, let's prepare ourselves for battle!”
……
After the group clarified their roles, the magic knight launched the first attack while the others supported him.
“This I go!” shouted the magic knight as he charged towards the Green Worshiping Grasshopper King. He swung his rusty spear and stabbed it in the lower jaw.
27!
Cold sweat flooded my head. This defense is absolutely ridiculous! The magic knight was Level 8, but his full-powered attack could only tickle the boss!
“Not good, we are not suitable for it!”
The magic knight retreated in shock, but the Green Worshiped Grasshopper King shocked him and landed a slash on his head!
201!
Almost alone, the magic knight was almost shot once by his boss. If his class did not naturally have high HP, he would have already died.
Currently, the highest leveled player from the early village was Level 9, meaning this Level 8 magic knight was a top level professional compared to the others. But even he was just a noob in the face of this boss.
The magic knight retreated without hesitation after the first attack. The praying mantis moved slowly, so running away was not impossible.
However, the group barely ran a few meters before a group of players suddenly entered their field of vision. They looked menacing, and their levels ranged between 4 and 7. They are obviously elite, and their IDs all have the prefix “Gila” Dragon. The leader of the group was called “Roaming Dragon”. He was a Level 9 magic knight and the highest level player from the early village.
Roaming Dragon moved forwards and shouted at the four of them. “Guild Mad Dragon takes over this place, all unrelated people must step aside! Don't wait until it's too late!”
