Today is Saturday, the day my office is off but I have to keep working, working on a very important report for the meeting materials. It should've been over a few days ago, but my beautiful wife kept pestering me until I couldn't do this important report. Even touching a laptop is impossible at home.
Today I have to finish this report so I don't look stupid at meetings, it doesn't mean I'm stupid. Merely, I am the type of boss who only discusses what is being tightened, does not like to spread everywhere which is why I have to make a report to speak more regularly. But it seemed like it failed me when I saw the incoming call on my phone. The name that these few months gave me and Deryl was almost depressed because of it.
"What's wrong?" ask me directly to the point when answering the phone.
'I want you to bring me a yellow watermelon!' he said cheerfully from across there. But I regrettably still finally heard his voice.
"There really is?"
'of course. Take it at my Fresh Fruit mall huh.'
I cringed confused. His mall? Naya has her own mall? But since when?
"You have your own mall?"
'of course! Deryl bought it for me.'
I grumbled slowly in my heart, again I lost. How could Deryl so easily take Naya's heart? I became envious of him.
"All right, I'll get it."
'Okay, the address I sent via a message yes.'
"Yes." Yeah."
After that Naya immediately disconnected her phone call with me. I became less excited and suddenly felt sad. Is it because I love Naya too much? Or am I still unable to adapt to this state of polyandry? It's been a year since we went through this strange household until Naya was rumored to be pregnant but I've never felt this late by Deryl. Is this my karma for coming and ruining Naya and Deryl's lives? This is not my wish. It's because of the will of my grandfather and Naya's grandfather.
[ The flashback]
I was in a private hotel with my girlfriend, Helena. We just celebrated our second year of dating while celebrating valentine. Do you know what happens when a man and a woman are together in a hotel room?
That afternoon after finishing 'playing' with Helena, I decided to swim for a while. Swim in a large swimming pool with blue ceramic that I call the European sea. I was just swimming on the edge, no interest yet. For about fifteen minutes I was silent, I heard my flame ringing. I got up and checked. That's a call from my dad. My father asked me to return home immediately because there was something important that he wanted to tell me. I told Helena about it and Helena told me to go home, I followed her.
Arriving home, I saw in my living room there was my father, my grandfather, and a middle-aged man who I knew was Ronald, my father's best friend. Dad called and told me to join them.
"What's up, dad?" I half whispered to my father.
"Son Kevan must be confused why we gathered, right?" ronald asked me like I knew what was confusing. I just nodded to answer it.
He laughed slowly and then looked at my grandfather. "So, Kevan, as you already know. Ronald has a daughter named—"
"Naya Amanda." Call me fast.
"Yes, Grandpa wants you to marry him."
"Why?" ask me while looking down.
"You could say you married her for business, Kevan."
"Why should I? Why not the others?" ask me again with a slightly raised voice.
"I don't want a marriage that doesn't benefit me at all."
My father, grandfather and Ronald exhaled. I can see the look of disappointment on Ronald's face.
"My company almost went bankrupt because of my brother. The company I built was full of struggle with my father. But it seems like this time I have to be willing to take it off" said Ronald laughing forcedly.
"Ronald, don't be. I can persuade Kevan again later." said my father.
"No, don't be forced. Something that is forced to do will not get good results. Then I'll go home. It's late in the afternoon, chances are my son will be looking for me."
"Om Ronald, I'm sorry." I looked at him regretfully.
I saw that Ronald just nodded and smiled and then he said goodbye to my father and grandfather and left my house immediately. Ever since my rejection that day, I never saw Ronald come to visit again.
That afternoon I was sitting in my yard, and my father came and sat next to me. "The Ronald company went bankrupt yesterday" my father said.
"W-what?" many surprised.
"Sister, Gilang. He can't get support from anywhere other than father's company."
Well, that was a surprise for me.
"The letter of his father's will says that he must help his company and also marry you to his granddaughter, but he can't do anything."
Why does a sense of regret suddenly appear in him, feeling failed to help someone who really needs his help.
"Dad, am I not too late to make a decision?" ask suddenly.
"What decision?" ask my dad confused.
"I will marry Naya so that the father's company can help Ronald's company, so my company can help him too."
"You sure? What about Helena?"
I looked down, that's what I was confused about. It's not that I don't like Ronald's son, of course I've loved that beautiful woman since childhood. But I also have Helena filling my days.
"Our relationship has gone so 'far'. I don't know what the right way to talk to her is."
"The situation is complicated but try to talk slowly to her and explain why you should marry Naya."
I nodded in agreement and spoke to Helena the next day. I've guessed what response Helena will show. But my intentions are round. Helena and I broke up that day.
That day also Ronald and my father and grandfather talked about and arranged the wedding. But there was one bitter thing I had to swallow, which was that I married Naya and had to share it with someone named Deryl who also married her.
[Flashback finished ]
From that day on the war between me and Deryl began, vying for Naya's attention even though I knew I was always losing. But behind it all is written destiny that unites the three of us. Like I have complete parents, while Deryl is an orphan, I get a lot of love from my family and Deryl get love from Naya, yes I also get love Naya too. All complement each other so beautifully, maybe next time I have to come to terms with that expressionless, undead man.
