The dim light of a light bulb is dimly lit in the short corridor of a puskesmas far from the center of the crowd. A beautiful doctor came out of the maternity room. His face was tired and full of sadness.
“Dok,” Midwife Maya stroking Rengganis back.
“We failed, Bu.” Rengganis hugged Midwife Maya, her cries spilling unstoppable.
“Yes, maybe this is the way. Mr. Risno and Mr. Prapti have also given up their baby. Patient doctor yes,” The old midwife also shed tears.
“Doctor just rest first. Doctor must be tired.”
Rengganis let go of his embrace and walked straight outside the puskes building with the cet wall that almost faded.
The tears that flowed were not wiped away. The heart of the Rengganis was completely broken. Guilt haunted him. If he could provide a better service, this might never happen.
Rengganis sat on a long bench of patient lines made of whitewashed wood. His eyes looked at the full moon that was shining quite brightly from space. His smooth hand hit the seat.
The beautiful girl wanted to scream as hard as she could. Let go of the disappointment that weighed down his heart. But many things made him realize that he could not do it. The girl was only able to fall down lethargic at the thought of everything that had just happened.
“Crying!” he heard a heavy voice that he was familiar with.
Rengganis began to wipe away the tears that were still sullen on her pink cheeks.
“Forward. Don't shy. Spill all your sadness tonight, so that tomorrow you can return to being a great young doctor as I know it.” Captain Blue crouched down in front of the Rengganis.
“Since when are you here?”
“Since earlier.”
“Tadi when?”
“Should know yes?”
“Ih tetep nyebelin.” Rengganis stood intending to enter his service house. He really has no taste for arguing. Even with Captain Blue who has been sitting in his brain all day.
The blue captain laughed seeing Rengganis stepping away leaving him. The man chased Rengganis and pulled his right hand.
“Cute me!"
“Where?”
“Cute only!"
Rengganis quietly did not dispute the command of the handsome man. They ride on Captain Blue's big black motorcycle.
“We take a walk.”
“Nights like this?” rengganis protests.
“Hem. We don't have much time together, do we?”
“You mean?”
Captain Blue did not answer the question of the spoiled girl who was now sitting leaning on his body. The gallant man pulled the left arm of Doctor Rengganis then wrapped it around the waist.
“Tight grip, later fall. We want to speed.”
“Basic crocodile.” Rengganis hit Captain Blue's back spoiled.
“Where are we going?” Once again the young girl wanted to know where the man was going to take her.
“You have never seen the beauty of this village as a whole right?” ask Captain Blue. Rengganis.
“Tonight we will see,” he said steadily.
From one corner of the village to the other, Captain Blue explains everything to Rengganis. The city girl seemed amazed by the simple life that the villagers did every day.
Houses that still have to survive using a lamp that is fueled by fire even for street lighting there are still those who use torches.
A sight that Rengganis has never seen in a lifetime. The village is abandoned but very peaceful.
“There is still a village like this huh? I think this is only in the story.” Rengganis looked amazed at the village life is very simple but looks happy.
“We're down.” Captain Blue invites Rengganis down from his motorbike after stopping at a corner stall that is quite crowded.
“Mie boiled two, Ma'am, use eggs and warm tea is also two,” message Captain Blue to the owner of the stall.
“Sit there!" The man pointed to a fallen coconut tree not far from the corner yard.
“Mari, Gentlemen,” greet Captain Blue friendly to the gentlemen who are gathered watching the ball broadcast on 14 inch TV provided by the shop owner.
“Ayoooo,” hand Rengganis back fondled friendly by Captain Blue.
“Sit here.” The sweet-faced man patted the trunk of a fallen coconut tree right beside him sitting.
Rengganis complied with his wishes. The girl sat down as per Captain Blue's direction.
“Why are we here?”
“Eat. I'm hungry,” the answer is short.
“You also definitely haven't eaten?” continued.
Rengganis. His eyes looked at his right hand that was playing the fingernails of his left index finger. He recalled the baby Bu Prapti had failed to save.
“This, Doctor Rengganis and Mr. Army his order.” Ma'am Winah the shop owner came to deliver their order with Mas Udai her husband who brought a small wooden table to put the food and drinks they ordered.
“Come to eat.” Captain Blue is seen stirring boiled noodles with seasoning deliberately sprinkled on top of the noodles.
“I don't eat noodles.” Rengganis took a warm tea and blew it slowly.”
“Why?”
“Not healthy.”
Doctor Rengganis frowned.
“Poisons you said delicious?” His eyes narrowed in disbelief.
The blue captain brought closer a spoonful of noodles he had blown. Rengganis shook his head, refusing the mouthful of the handsome man.
The beautiful girl overshadowed how much poison was already scattered on the instant noodles Captain Blue was eating. Not to mention the blow he had done. Complete already.
“Nih,” Captain Blue unbroken spirit. The noodles in his spoon were continuously directed into the mouth of Doctor Rengganis.
Finally the young lady was pleased to open her mouth and accept an instant noodle feed from Captain Blue. He could not resist the Captain's sincere intentions.
Rengganis chewed the noodles slowly. The longer the pleasure of the warmth of boiled noodles complete with eggs and cayenne pepper managed to melt his fear.
“Enak," he said, chewing the rest of the noodles in his mouth. His hand quickly grabbed a bowl of noodles that Captain Blue had ordered for him.
Rengganis followed the steps that the gallant man beside him had taken. Stirring noodles and seasonings that have been available, blown and caps put into his tiny mouth.
The laughing Rengganis looked at Captain Blue who was looking at him as he devoured the noodles hurriedly and sipped the warm-covered tea they ordered.
The young doctor's heart was comforted. His laughter is back up. Captain Blue is the happiest person to see the woman he began to love cheerfully.
“Why are they all gathered in this stall, Captain?”
“Call me, Mas,” command Captain Blue. The renganis smiled shyly.
“OK, Mom. Satisfied?”
“Hahaha. As you can see, in this village is very minimal entertainment watching TV only they are difficult. There are still many people who cannot install electricity. That's why they purposely came here to watch the ball game.” Rengganis.
"Again watching in a crowd like that is more exciting."
Rengganis imagines his family life. There are many televisions in the house. Rengganis never watch TV in crowds, he used to watch alone in the room without anyone daring to disturb. How it feels to watch TV with so many people around.
"Ah no-no." The rengganis shook his head.
"What's wrong?" asked Captain Blue who saw Rengganis suddenly shake his head.
“It's okay. Oh yeah, why are you taking me around? Not that your job today is hard either. I heard from Mr. Day all day you were busy practicing.” Rengganis saw many bruises and abrasions on Captain Blue's hand.
“I want to show you. How good of a fate you have. Look at these people around us. They work harder than we do. Their lives are also very difficult. But they never complain. Never give up.” Captain Blue stared at the face of the Rengganis.
“Yes, I get it, I feel guilty. I have lived selfishly all this time. I feel like my life is the hardest. But today my eyes are open, I must be grateful for all that I have in this life.” Rengganis smiled bitterly.
“I often regret the steps I have taken to become a doctor. But today I realized. I'm destined to help them all.” Rengganis smiled excitedly.
“Betul. Did you not realize it. The villagers respect you so much. Look at the shop owner, he called your name. That means you are very famous here?”
Rengganis. His heart said what Captain Blue said was true.
"What you've just experienced is a valuable lesson. I'm sure you'll be a great doctor that the villagers can rely on. I believe that." Captain Blue said solemnly.
“You also seem to know this place very well?” Rengganis.
“Yes, I have trained here three times. I'm getting familiar with this village.”
“Oh yes I want to ask, since yesterday this question is in my head.”
“Bby, what is it?”
“That night, Mom, where did it come from? Why did it come in time?”
“Think of it's your luck.” Captain Blue laughed seeing Doctor Rengganis' eyes bulging as if to get out of place.
“To be honest I had to return to the battalion that day. There's a braitel that I need to get to my unit as soon as possible, there's something important I need to do. That night I just returned from the battalion to be able to rejoin the troops who were training.”
“Are you not afraid of delinquents until the nights pass by that place alone?”
“You don't have to worry. We are warriors born as fighters. I can face them. Remember that!”
“Iya. And then, I said we didn't have much time. Meaning?”
Captain Blue was speechless.
“Do we not have to immediately return to our respective unity.”
“When?” Rengganis. His heart suddenly felt empty.
“Three days more.” The beautiful eyes of Rengganis stared at the handsome face of Captain Blue fixedly.
“I just felt like I had a friend.” Rengganis.
Captain Blue rubbed the long hair of Rengganis. He can only smile. His heart really understands what feelings are raging in the girl's mind because the true feeling is also turbulent in his mind. The same feeling.
They spend a long time in silence. Drifting in each other's feelings until finally Captain Blue holds the hand of Doctor Rengganis.
“We're home, it's night. You need to rest.”
Rengganis nodded in agreement even though his heart said he still wanted to stay with the man who was able to make his chest always tremble.
“I'm afraid.” Rengganis whispers.
“Trust me I will always be an eastern star who will always wait for you at every dawn.” Captain Blue stared intently at Rengganis' eyes before running his motorcycle to return to the puskesmas.
What does Captain Blue keep secret about the Rengganis?
What was the fate of the Rengganis after Captain Blue returned to his original union?
We wait for the next story!
