CHAPTER 18 - Getting Married

Diah threw her bag at the table and lay face down on the bed, she felt tired of facing this day as if she was back in those days. His lips smiled wryly as he could not avoid it even though he had moved to school. Will his fate continue like this?

He felt like crying.

The mobile vibration wakes Diah from her daydream, she opens her phone and there is an incoming call from her brother. He tried to regulate his breathing and make his voice look fine so that his brother did not know the situation, he did not want to bother him anymore.

Rifan opened his eyes and took off the earphones, without him noticing his ears turning red and a small smile appeared on his lips. He giggled to the point of making his two friends look at him in wonder and a little horrified at seeing his strange demeanor.

Rifan nodded and scrolled the next photo. "Which do you think is best?"

"Hooo." Reynaldi nodded in agreement with Abi's choice.

"Why choose tuxedo? Don't you like wearing them?" ask Reynaldi astonished.

Rifan casually replied. "For my marriage."

Reynaldi and Abi were so shocked that their eyes widened with mouths open full of disbelief, they felt something was wrong with their ears and had just heard a strange hallucination. Did they just hear the word marriage? Who wants to get married? Rifan?!?!?

This is so scary!

"Bro lo just said what?" ask Reynaldi to confirm his hearing.

Rifan thinned his lips displeased due to the response of his two friends. "Something is wrong?"

"Lo said he wanted to get married, but remember you're only 17!!! It's still a long way to go if you want to get married, after all, you've never dated" said Reynaldi full of emotions.

"Dating?" Rifan just grunted. "It's a waste of time, it's better to get married." A smile rose once more from Rifan's lips as he imagined married life.

"Who would you like to marry now?" Reynaldi had no idea what was wrong with Rifan's head, how could he have any thoughts of getting married.

Rifan rolled his eyes and gave Reynaldi a scornful look. "Who else would it be if it wasn't Diah."

Reynaldi's breath choked and looked at him in disbelief. "Damn you just met him and you've been thinking about marriage? Does he want to be the same? He looks like he's the same ogah deket lo," he said mockingly.

Rifan's face turned dark when he heard Reynaldi's ridicule that pierced his heart, even though he had been kind to Diah, he did look unhappy and away from him. She did not know what she had to do to get Diah to approach her.

"Rifan you can't rush to get married, Reynaldi's words are true." Abi patted her shoulder. "Lo has not seen Diah for a long time and of course he will reject your proposal. Besides you have to remember, as long as 'they're still alive you won't be peaceful and you'll always be careful at every step."

"If 'they' knew of Diah's whereabouts then he would be lo's weakness," Abi said seriously.

Rifan gritted his teeth when Abi regained consciousness, indeed as long as 'they' were around he could not marry Diah so as not to involve her. He did not want Diah to be under the control of 'them' and become his weak point.

"Lo's right Bi, I'm in too much of a hurry." Rifan rubbed his face in a huff. "As long as 'them' are still around then my life will never calm down."

"It's nice to understand." Abi patted her shoulder once more.. "Don't rush, you still have time and build preparations to fight 'them'."

Rifan picked up his phone and returned to his bed in a doldrums, he pulled the blanket and hid himself. Actually he was a little tired and longed to take a short break, but as long as 'them' were still around he would never be able to enjoy his life.

Others may see him living comfortably with his possessions, but in fact from his birth until now he has never found peace and has always worked hard to survive. Living with a pack of wolves always makes him wary because he does not know when he will die.
