At the dining table filled with food. Dallas was next to Chezy, taking some food for him. In the eyes of others, Dallas looked like a caring husband. But Chezy knows that this is just her acting.
The people who didn't like to see the scene the most were certainly Sonya and Madame Alston. The rest is lukewarm.
At lunchtime, Mrs Alston would occasionally say something that almost offended Chezy. If it wasn't her husband who made little sense, she would probably ruin the atmosphere at the dinner table.
"Where was Miss Chezy at school before?" ask Mr. Alston while enjoying the food.
Chezy smiled a little. "Only a small school in K country" he replied.
Madame Alston couldn't help but smile at her sarcasm. "It just so happens that Sonya is also a college school in K country, still a top university. She originally came home this year to marry Dallas because the two had a lot of matches. Who knew there were uninvited flies" he explained.
"Enough!" Mr. Alston warned him.
"What's wrong?! I'm telling the truth." Madame Alston was displeased as her husband stared with a gaze that somewhat frightened her.
Dallas ate without being affected by the strange atmosphere at the dining table. But he looked at his mother with a clear warning.
"If you have no intention of greeting my wife, don't eat and go have lunch outside."
"Dallas, I'm your mother!" Madame Alston was even more displeased when her own son spoke like that only to a woman of unknown origin.
Sonya was right, Dallas would definitely be influenced by women who had no idea where to come from.
"Then act like a mother."
"You—!" Mrs Alston wants to argue.
Grandpa Alston could no longer bear the commotion at the dining table, instantly shouting, "Enough! Don't argue in front of the food!"
Mrs Alston kept her mouth shut. Sonya who was beside him immediately poked her arm and shook her head. Mrs Alston felt guilty.
Chezy doesn't talk much. Every now and then he would see the woman sitting beside Madame Alston. That woman is Sonya Marweth, Dallas' current fiancee.
Marweth's family was Alston's family partner for many years. Not the most important but the closest. Marweth's family is very kind and has a relationship with Mrs Alston.
They had made a childhood engagement when Dallas was three years old. At that time, if Madame Marweth gives birth to a daughter, then it will be betrothed to Dallas.
After lunch, Grandpa Alston asked Chezy to have a one-on-one talk in the study. Dallas didn't mind or worry, he just waited quietly in the living room.
Sonya wants to talk to Dallas about their engagement. But it did not have a good response from the other party.
"Dallas, do you really have no feelings for me?" Sonya has beautiful wavy brownish hair. Her blue eye iris perfectly matched her well-groomed pure white skin.
From childhood, Sonya was already fond of Dallas but mostly spent time with Gaines. After all, the two men always protected her if there was anything. Sonya feels safe everywhere. But as he grew older, his third thought of course changed a lot.
"No way! Dallas, you promised to live with me that day and take care of me. How can you be like this?" Sonya almost cried. He showed the saddest expression, hoping that the man's heart was moved.
But Dallas was just indifferent.
Dallas knows a lot of things but is lazy to express it.
"Sonya, don't be greedy by courting her there and here. Appreciate yourself as a woman" Dallas said without further ado.
Sonya's stunned. He didn't know why Dallas said that. There was a slight abnormality in his eyes but soon replaced the sadness.
On the other hand, Gaines who had just entered the living room. He looked at the scene, there did not seem to be any good results. He's a little upset.
"Dallas, you don't say that to Sonya. Your engagement is not over." Gaines had a firm attitude as a big brother but always failed to keep Dallas in his control.
"Then end it. Or ... My brother can replace him. It makes no difference anyway."
"Dallas!" Gaines clenched both hands, staring at Dallas rather coldly.
Sonya couldn't take it anymore and immediately left the living room while crying. His mature age did not match his attitude. Crying like this, it's so childish. Dallas again thought of Chezy who sometimes showed a stray cat-like attitude.
Seeing Gaines go after Sonya, Dallas smiled mockingly. He took another sip of his cigarette, a little annoyed. He might have told Sonya that someday he would look after her. She thought it was okay to get married because she was engaged.
It's just that when you found out that Sonya was with Gaines, Dallas dropped that hope. She did not expect that Sonya and her brother were so passionate about each other. But to her disgust, Sonya behaved spoiled and childishly in front of her as if nothing had happened.
Dallas got up to knock on his grandfather's study. It's been half an hour since Chezy talked to her grandfather. Why not come out too.
"Dallas, I want to talk to you for a moment" Mr. Alston said as he watched his second son walk out of the living room. He closed the newspaper he was reading.
Dallas approached his father and sat not far from him.
"What's wrong?"
"Still asking what is it? Of course it's about that woman. I see it doesn't seem like he's simple." Mr. Alston is a former soldier. He retired early because of his poor health.
In the army, if a soldier has an illness or is not physically and mentally healthy, it will definitely be retired. The reason is not to disturb others.
"Dad, I married her, of course I'm sure. Don't worry about this."
"The problem is that you and Sonya were engaged from the beginning and the news spread. You get married all of a sudden but the bride isn't Sonya, it's a two-family joke. Marweth's family will definitely come to ask for an explanation."
Mr. Alston is tired. Young man's business, he doesn't want to interfere. Dallas and Sonya's engagement was originally just a verbal agreement between his wife and Madame Marweth.
"I'll take care of this."
