I was born into a simple family, my papa was once just a vegetable merchant who was a staple in a traditional market. Although not rich, papa can finance us three brothers to sit in college because papa is very concerned with the education of his children.
My brother is number one Bang Vano, a teacher at a Junior High School in Semarang. I have a family and two daughters.
My brother, number two Bang Vino, works for one of the private companies in Cianjur. He was also married and had a pair of sons and daughters.
Both my brothers complained of fate overseas after finishing college. After Papa died, it was only me and my mother who occupied Papa's relic house.
Mama used to be a home tailor who received the stitches of neighbor clothes and acquaintances. But since my mother had hypertension I did not allow my mother to receive stitches anymore, because she was not young anymore I was afraid of mama soy sauce and fell ill. You can do your homework so you don't get bored either.
While sitting in High School, I had some girlfriends and also a boy friend who had been a good friend. The coquettish Eni, the jolly Rina, the kind-hearted Fendi, the joking Aldi.
Fendi once expressed his love for me after our school graduation day, when there was a sense of doubt because he would work in Taiwan. While I still have to continue my studies at one of the universities in Pangkalpinang. Then Fendi left and only asked me occasionally.
My father had a sister whom I called Om Ferdi. Om Ferdi is a rich man who has a lot of land and has many rented houses. Om Ferdi's wife, Aunt Linda, is arrogant and likes to look down on Papa and Mama because Papa is not as rich as Om Ferdi.
I still remember when my mom told me to deliver food to the Om Ferdi family for my birthday. My mama cooks long-lived noodles and shakes. Cuisine that although simple but delicious in my opinion because mama is smart to cook.
I was on a bike to deliver my mama's cooking to Om Ferdi's house and Aunt Linda herself received it.
Aunt Linda didn't offer me to stop by or get into her magnificent house. Only Kak Yanti, the only child of Om Ferdi and Aunt Linda who invited to stop by.
" No, brother, it's overcast. Lusi go home first."
" Thank you Lus, and hearts go home."
" Let's Auntie, Lusi said goodbye."
" Hmmm." replied Aunt Linda
I got on the bike and pedaled slowly.
"Based on the poor, give food to the village." Even though I was away, I heard the harsh word Aunt Linda.
" Don't be so ma, instead of thank you for bringing food." sound Kak Yanti.
I quickly pedaled the bike, and from then on there was a sense of disappointment in Aunt Linda. Poor mama, it was well intentioned to establish a good relationship with brothers, but so the response.
From then on, I promised not to let anyone look down on our family. I will protect my mother and as her son I want her to be happy. And the events of that day I never told anyone, including my mother.
