Letting Go of Each Other

Devan invites Amel to talk to him in the living room. They sat in a chair facing the outside window. Amel looked at Devan with an incomprehensible look.

“Do you have to go to Singapore? Can't you just stay here?”

Devan seemed to be staring downwards deliberately avoiding Amel's gaze. “Yes, I have to go Mel. I can't stay here anymore.” There was a heavy sound from Devan. He seemed to be holding something inside of him.
