Chapter 40

Eireen came out of the room and picked up the phone "hello?Can I help you?"

From the other end of the phone, Edward's voice hesitates and says "hello, I'm Edward. Sorry to bother you. Today I'm calling to ask you about my previous offer."

Edward's polite and gentle voice made Eireen calm down. Nevertheless Eireen politely said "sorry I may not be able to accept an offer from you."

Eireen rejects Edward because he still rants from Mike. They have not been in a good relationship lately. He doesn't want to add to the problem anymore.

Eireen said he would hang up soon but was stopped by Edward.

"Miss Elaine, what are you worried about. Is my offer insufficient? If so, you can specify the nominal you requested. Besides what else do shares? As long as I can grant it I can definitely give it."

Edward said "then how about we make an appointment to talk in person.It's better to talk about this in person than over the phone."

Eireen hung up the phone and returned to the dining room in a hurry.

Megan snorted slowly then said "who does she think she is?"

The flickering screen of the phone and the big words written on the screen "Edward Tan" on top made Mike a sore eye.

Mike, who was always cold-faced, could not help but look at Eireen. What's going on between him and Edward. First by phone now via text message.

Right after the short message was about to be sent, Megan stood up and grabbed Eireen's phone "Elaine what's the matter? Let's finish the meal first."

He wiggled Eireen's phone and smiled again "for a while I'll confiscate your phone."

Megan is seen accidentally putting her on the table right next to Madame Martha. But because of that, Madame Martha could see the new text message that Eireen wanted to send. He read the words ”promise tomorrow afternoon" instantly the look on Madame Martha's face changed and became angry.

"Elaine."

Eireen glanced at her phone and looked towards Megan. He finally understood what was happening. He didn't write anything strange. Her mother-in-law was just too much.

Seeing the relaxed expression of Eireen, made Martha even more annoyed. He'll attack Eireen if he's not stopped by Mike's voice.

"Ma, if there's anything, it'll be after dinner just talked about."

Madame Martha could only be silent, because her words were cut off by her own son. Grandpa is so angry "Martha, do you mind Mike and Elaine's wedding? If that's the case, you should have come straight to me, don't make things difficult for people's children."

The old man was suddenly very angry. Madame Martha did not dare to argue she said "i don't mean so father." mistress Martha held back her anger with a choked voice.

"Then eat now. Don't be hard anymore." Seeing Martha admitting a mistake, he did not extend it any longer.

Eireen looked at grandfather with an apologetic look. And his heart kept on being filled with warm feelings.

Seeing Grandpa's treatment of Eireen Megan increasingly dislike. Elaine was so defended by grandfather, while Aunt was blamed.

Madame Martha who was pressured by grandfather, the whole dinner just kept quiet without saying a word. No one actively spoke.

Dinner was over and they went home.

"Grandfather, I'll take you." Mike took the initiative to drive his grandfather home. Eireen followed and sat down beside him.

As soon as he got in the car, grandfather kept his dignity and self-esteem in the car feeling a bit depressed. In the middle of the road grandfather suddenly said "Mike, are you dissatisfied with Elaine? Should she and your mother always not get along? As a son, you have to adjust the relationship between your mother and your wife. How can you make your mother have trouble with your wife?"

Grandfather breathed hard, he coughed a few times. Eireen extended his hand. Patting my grandfather's shoulder slowly.

Mike who was driving was also surprised by the words of grandfather and said "sorry, grandfather. I won't do it again."
