Chapter 5: Doctor Mo

After a while, Han Li felt a tightening sensation on his waist as his body became light. His body suddenly lifted upwards.

Turning his head, Han Li saw the skinny senior helping him up the cliff. With one hand wrapped around Han Li's waist, the senior disciple climbed a cliff with nimble legs. Han Li could not help but notice that the sun had reached the center of the sky. It was noon.

“So I failed the exam.” Han Li felt a depression in his heart. It doesn't feel fair. Even though he had desperately pushed forward, almost to the point of neglecting his life, why could he not be compared to the other children?

In an instant, the Bone Refining Cliff appeared before him. There were six other children resting on the cliff. Of the six, only Wu Yan had the strength to speak to a middle-aged old man wearing dark blue clothes. Division Head Yue as well as Protector Wang were also standing nearby. They were waiting for the senior disciple to escort the other children to the Bone Refining Cliff.

After all the children were escorted to the top of the cliff, Division Head Yue stepped forward with a serious expression on her face as she began to speak to the children:

“This time, only seven of you graduated. From this group, six will enter my Bai Duan Division and officially become the Inner Disciples of our sect. ” Division Head Yue spoke slowly to the crowd of children.

“As for Wu Yan, the first disciple to reach the peak of the Bone Refining Cliff, he appeared outstanding and, thus, was, will be directly sent to the Division of the Seven Supreme to learn the secret skills and martial arts of the sect.” After speaking, Division Head Yue glanced at the old man wearing dark blue clothes. The old man twirled his beard with one hand while nodding complacently at Division Head Yue.

“As for the others ...,” Division Head Yue pondered the results of the remaining children for a moment before rubbing his chin and softly said:

“Zhang Tie and Han Li, even though both of them did not pass the test, they still performed admirably. Their determination would allow them to overcome the pain of practicing martial arts. The two of you will be Unofficial Disciples assigned to our sect instructors for the next half a year. After half a year, you will be tested again. If you pass, you will be able to become an Inner Disciple, but if you fail, you will be sent to join the Outer Disciple, helping the sect handle its outer affairs.”

Han Li stole a glance at the person named Zhang Tie. Like Han Li, Zhang Tie had started climbing the rope but failed to reach the top of the Bone Refining Cliff before noon.

“Protector Wang, give the other children some silver coins and send them back to their home,” Division Head Yue said as he looked coldly at the children who failed the test.

“Understood!”

Protector Wang obeyed the order and he led the other children back to the cliff.

“Zhang Jun, Wu Ming Rui, you two will help me send the rest of these children to Vice Division Head and Instructor Li.”

Two senior disciples stepped forward and separated Han Li and the others into two groups before leading them down the cliff. One of the senior disciples was a skinny senior who had always been behind Han Li. As they descended the cliff, Han Li couldn't help but glance at Wu Yan and find that he was still chatting with the dark blue-robed old man, it seemed to be without any intention to move from that place.

“He's different from all of you. In the future, he would most likely become a core disciple. Only core disciples were sent to the Seven Supreme Divisions to practice the sect's secret arts. Once he finished his training, at the very least, he would have the rank of Protector. ” The voice belonged to a long and skinny face, who knew what Han Li was thinking. From his tone of voice, Han Li could hear the signs of jealousy mixed with jealousy.

“Hmmph, isn't Wu Yan just pulling a rope and relying on his family connections? If not for his older cousin marrying Sect Leader Ma, how could he be chosen as a core disciple with very few skills? He had already exceeded the age limit but he was still sent to the Highest Seven Division, ” the senior said in a cold tone comparable to the cold wind on a winter day.

The senior with a cold face snorted as if he harbored hatred in his heart, but after Wu Ming Rui's warning, he stopped talking. Only then did Han Li understand that the senior with the cold face was Zhang Jun. Listening to their conversation, Han Li could roughly understand what they were talking about. Wu Yan entered the Seven Supreme Division, not because of his own abilities, but because he had the support of the Sect Leader!

As they walked along the mountain road, these two seniors thought about the internal affairs of the sect, which made them sad. Lacking the mood to speak, they quietly led the children forward. The other children also did not dare to speak out all of a sudden; perhaps they thought of the difference between the Seven Mysteries Sect and their hometown.

As they passed through the forest area, a sixty-year-old man emerged from the forest. He was tall and thin with a yellow tinge on his skin and a head full of white hair. As he approached them, he coughed at each step, causing many of them to worry that he was suffering greatly and could faint at any moment.

The senior disciples, upon seeing this old man, did not show the slightest bit of worry on their faces. Instead, they respectfully greeted the old man with a bow.

“Doctor Mo, this disciple greets you. Is there something you need this student to handle?” Zhang Jun, unlike his previously cold demeanor, now had a respectful expression. To Zhang Jun, this old man in front of him deserved more respect than Division Heads and even Sect Leaders.

“Oh, is this the latest batch of disciples?” The old man continued to cough and asked in a hoarse voice.

“Yes, among the eight of them, six are official Inner Disciples and two are Unofficial Disciples,” Zhang Jun replied.

“It just so happens, I currently need some manpower, specifically an alchemy apprentice and herb gatherer. Let them both follow me instead. ” Doctor Mo randomly raised his finger and pointed, like luck, towards Han Li and Zhang Tie, the two Unofficial Disciples.

“This disciple will obey your words. These two Unofficial Disciples really caught the attention of the esteemed Doctor Mo, their karma must have been incredible... You two, why are you still standing there? Hurry up and come to pay respects to Doctor Mo. If you can learn a thing or two about the healing arts from these esteemed Elders, you will be very lucky. ” Both seniors have no trace of doubt or objection on their faces. The senior with a long and thin face, Wu Ming Rui, flattered Doctor Mo to lick him.

Han Li and Zhang Tie, after seeing the two senior disciples who had suddenly changed hearts, did not mind. They could only accept in silence and follow the old man into the forest.

Doctor Mo led the two of them down a small path that meandered through the forest. The road turned east and west before suddenly stopping in front of the entrance that led to the beautiful green valley.

On the left side of the valley was a courtyard used for farming medicinal plants that gave off a fragrant smell to the air. After they entered the courtyard, Han Li saw many unknown plants. On the right side of the valley are rows of houses of various sizes. Looking at the four directions, Han Li saw no way out other than the gate where they entered.

“This valley is called the Valley of the Hand of the Gods. Other disciples would not dare to enter this valley unless they suffered injuries. ” The old man stood in the middle of the row of houses and pointed to a smaller house. “For now, this will be your home. Rest and recharge your energy. When night falls, find me in my house so I can tell you about some things. ”

“You two can call me Old Mo.” The old man snorted and thought for a moment before saying:

“Doctor Mo can also be accepted.”

After speaking, Doctor Mo ignored the two of them and slowly walked towards the imposing-looking house, coughed at each step.

Completely exhausted, Han Li did not bother to check on Zhang Tie before entering the house and choosing a bed to sleep on. He was satisfied, because, at this moment, he was halfway to becoming the Inner Disciple of the Seven Mystery Sect.
