Chapter 37 - Guan's Suspicion.
At the long dining table that could fit around 10 people, the atmosphere was a bit tense. Yu Jie held everything back, he wanted Father to accept Guan Lin slowly. However, the dining area turned into a burial area so gloomy. Even Hao Yu had already apologized for really not knowing what Master Huang meant by asking him to come over dinner turned out to be betrothed to Yu Jie.
"Yes God! I'm just bringing my lover in, why is Papa's face bent? Whah! Enough I'm betrothed to Ang Cheng and Papa see the results? I'm betrayed! I'm not saying Hao Yu would betray me in the future if we were together, but this time just once let me choose the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I love Guan so much, Pah!"
Yu Jie looked at the Father boldly, even raising the volume of his voice and spoke impassively.
Hearing Yu Jie's explosive emotions not only were Master Huang and Hao Yu stunned, even Guan Lin was even more shocked because it was the first time Yu Jie said she loved him.
"Jie's... Jie.." - Sir Guan Lin.
Yu Jie turned around from the father turning to Guan Lin. "Yes, I think I'm starting to love you. Guan, if Papa forbids us from getting in touch, I'll get out of the house and elope with you. I-i-"
"Enough! You want to leave Papa and prefer him!" mister Huang's index finger pointed at Guan Lin.
"If Papa isn't stubborn and lets me get in touch with Guan, I'll choose you two. But if Papa forbids me, I'd prefer Guan! So the choice is in Papa's hands, accept Guan or Papa will lose me!" yu Jie said firmly, her hand under the table grasping Guan's hand gave the man a code. It was in the car that Yu Jie told Guan to follow him and convince him.
Guan understood, "Jie Jie. If you prefer me, I will guarantee your life dear. Our house, property and children will still have my grandfather on my side and also have the Lim family who will love our children let alone Grandpa Lim saying you will be the heir of the Lim family. You won't lack anything, dear." Guan Lin spoke with a reassuring look.
Yu Jie held back his laughter, Guan's theatrics were too exaggerated by carrying around the Lim family but it seemed to be working because now the father's face looked frightened.
"Yeah... Jie.... What did he mean just now?! What lim family?" stuttering Mr Huang.
"Ekhm, Grandpa Lim said he had removed Ang Cheng's name from the right of heir and replaced it with me. Now I'm second in line to be heir in the Lim family, so Guan means I just have to ask for my adoption. I'll become Lim's clan, and leave Papa's clan and leave Papa." All of Yu Jie scared his father.
"Huh?" now that Guan was dumbfounded, he did not intend for Yu Jie to release his father's clan.
"Yu Jie..." Mr. Huang held back his tears of sadness, the princess who said she loved him so much now said she would leave him.
"Yu Jie, aren't you outrageous. Master Huang loves you very much!" Hao Yu also spoke, fondling the man with great respect for Mr. Huang.
"If Papa loves me, Papa will always support whatever makes his daughter happy. The Lim family just let go of Ang Cheng for wanting me to be happy, but Papa..." Yu Jie shook his head. "I'm very disappointed in Papa."
"Yu Jie, Papa was wrong. Don't leave Papa, yes.." eventually Master Huang was really scared Yu Jie would actually leave him.
"Then accept Guan as my lover, as my future husband and your future son-in-law." Yu Jie was still staring at the Father with her firm eyes.
"Well, okay, do whatever you want, whichever you choose Papa will agree." Mr. Huang nodded, then turned to Guan and his eyes looked friendly. "I'll call you Guan, let's eat. I'll bless you two, as long as you don't separate me from my daughter."
"Umm, sorry Father-in-law. I couldn't possibly separate you and Yu Jie, earlier I was just-"
Yu Jie pinched Guan's hand, stopping Guan's speech that seemed to want to say earlier the two of them were just playing a show.
Guan decided to continue his charade. "I thank you, Father-in-law. I promise if you support our relationship, I won't separate you from Yu Jie."
"Good, good. You two get my blessing, just go for it." Mr. Huang breathed a long breath, he lost a landslide. He then turned to Hao Yu and stared unkindly at the man he was rumored to be making the son-in-law. "Sorry, Hao Yu. I didn't know it was gonna be this way."
Hao Yu clenched both his hands under the table, now even his main backer could not squint. He still hoped that Yu Jie would obey Master Huang, but it seemed like his hope was in vain.
"Hao Yu, what you said is true. I also said to Guan, if my relationship with you is like a brother and never more. I hope you see me as Mei Mei, as your little sister." Yu Jie smiled but he felt Hao Yu's smile forced, he knew that if Hao Yu put his heart on him but he had to limit Hao Yu's feelings so that there were no problems in front of him.
"Yes, you are my MeiMay." Hao Yu nodded.
Guan Lin shone a sharp glare at Hao Yu, he realized Hao Yu's compulsion in approving Yu Jie's remark.
"Do you know Li Mei's cousin, the Chu family named Lien Hua... Hao Yu?" guan Lin asked wanting to see Hao Yu's reaction when dismantling Hao Yu and Lien Hua's togetherness.
"Lien Hua's? You know her?" Yu Jie who responded, he then looked at Guan Lin and Hao Yu alternately. Where did the two men know his enemy number one in his life?
"Miss Lien Hua, I don't know her very closely. The day she requested a meeting, because her brother Mr. Xingsheng had business with me I finally agreed to the meeting. It turned out that Miss Lien Hua knew I was close to you Yu Jie, she asked me to help in order to meet you. But, I immediately refused right then and there." Hao Yu replied smoothly. " Look..what if I do business with your former stepmother's niece, I'm wrong Yu Jie? Am I not allowed to do business with the Chu family, Master Huang?" Hao Yu looked at Yu Jie and Master Huang alternately.
Guan Lin linked his hands on the table propping up his chin, staring intensely at Hao Yu's face looking for lies from the look on Hao Yu's face. However, Hao Yu seemed to be speaking honestly or too cleverly hiding his true intentions.
"That's it, let's end this conversation. The food will really get cold if we chat again." Yu Jie patted Guan's arm for his lover to stop whatever was curious about Hao Yu.
"Yes, let's enjoy dinner tonight." Master Huang's timpal, don't want to bother about Hao Yu's affairs and the family of his ex-wife. It was Hao Yu's right, he felt there was no right to forbid.
The four people looked down at the plate that already contained dinner, began to strap it with the home-style food chopsticks. Occasionally Yu Jie cut down food for Guan, even with Guan Lin occasionally he fed Yu Jie which was now a habit of the two of them if they were eating together.
But the behavior of Yu Jie and Guan Lin was responded to another by Hao Yu, his heart heated up eagerly he killed Guan with both hands right then and there. His already deep love for Yu Jie, was even more deeply embedded as he could not get to Yu Jie.
The dinner ended with Guan Lin's thoughts puffing up about Hao Yu, but Yu Jie dismissed Guan's suspicions.
Yes, after dinner Yu Jie had Guan Lin stay at Zhu's residence but not Hao Yu. The man refused when asked to stay overnight by Mr. Huang, and was gone about 35 minutes ago.
Now Yu Jie was hugging Guan Lin in the room reserved for her lover to stay over. He knew the father would not dare to disturb after the charade they both had at the dinner table.
"Still thinking about Hao Yu? Look, Hao Yu is a good man. He was willing to help me when I first had trouble taking care of the Company and about the problematic medicine. Why should a good man be suspected?" Yu Jie felt comfortable in Guan's arms, he closed his eyes wanting to feel the warmth of his lover's body before later moving to his own room.
"Do you not know a saying?" guan Lin replied as he remained suspicious of Hao Yu.
"Proverb?"
"The bad guys are made up of good people who are hurting, maybe Hao Yu hates me for feeling like I took you away from him. Though he was first present in your life before me," Guan confirmed the reason for his suspicion on Hao Yu.
"Aish! That's impossible, he's a real man. You didn't hear that at the dinner table, I tied him up to my Gege. When he wants to hurt you, he'll think again because it's the same way he hurt me. So, you can calm down and not suspect Hao Yu anymore."
Guan Lin's suspicions could not be lost, let alone Hao Yu saying he was working with Xingsheng.
"Honey.. Now move into your own room or your father will come in here and drag me out of the house." Guan.
"There's no way Papa is, let me sleep here for a while. I'm so sleepy and tired, I still need your warmth." Yu Jie instead increasingly hugged his arms in Guan's stomach, his head had been leaning on his lover's chest from the beginning.
Guan Lin finally let her go, even the initial desire to have a spell with Yu Jie was gone. He looked at Yu Jie's face which was indeed like exhaustion. "Good night my love... " Guan kissed Yu Jie's forehead and then closed his eyes and also slept with the lover even more tightened his embrace.
