My ears were buzzing loudly, blurred vision accompanied by a tight chest.
I had a hard time figuring out where I was, but I guessed I was on one of the city streets, stranded there after being thrown from the palace.
A question arises in the head, asking, asking,
'How can I survive?'
Which was answered by Z.
"I'm the one using the shield to save you, soften the impact so your body doesn't fall apart like a piece of glass"
Soften your words?
I felt like my body was being hit repeatedly and thousands of long needles were stuck incessantly. Neither can my legs feel.
I am just like someone who is in front of the gates of death.
"You're still lucky. I'm not sure about Celine's subordinates. Chances are they've turned into spaghetti somewhere"
You're cruel to say such things to those who struggle to risk their lives.
"I'm sorry, I think stress makes me a little sensitive. I'm really worried. Just a little late, we might not be alive now. You do have the ability to regenerate, but that doesn't mean you're safe from death"
Haven't had time to reply, a terrible pain appeared in both legs, making me scream loudly unable to hold it.
It is a miracle that I did not fall unconscious during the healing process of legs that like being torn and then put back together forcibly.
Sweat soaked my body, breath gasping and heart beating accompanied me, watching me slowly rise to my feet like a drunk, swaying to the right and left like standing on a boat in the middle of a storm.
Curse a horse-drawn carriage not far ahead, using it as a temporary backrest as I return any remaining energy to find where the others are.
It didn't take long to find one of them, lying on the road with the appropriate body Z said, strewn like spaghetti.
On the wall of a building on the left, blood splashes and body marks hit.
It seems, whoever he is, crashed in high speed, late to react and finally the wall became the cover of the story.
A violent death.
I had to brace myself several times not to throw up on the spot, see the body in the street.
Something like this will become my daily life later on, I have to mentally prepare or I am sure to lose control and go crazy.
"Just calm down, you're much stronger than anyone else who might have been vomiting on the street with a lifetime of haunting trauma. However, don't let yourself get used to it, learn to strengthen yourself but never let yourself get used to it or you will create a monster"
Like you said Z, just relax. I also wouldn't want to be a monster who no longer values a life.
It is not a life, but a nightmare...
Except for those who deserve it.
Z shook his head.
Back I continued the steps that soon turned into running once I thought my body was able. Running through empty streets with ownerless storefronts reminded me of the dystopian movies I used to watch.
Apparently, this is what it feels like. A strange feeling I find hard to describe. The mix of calmness and silence is gripping. Something that makes you feel safe but at the same time alert.
But that question was answered shortly afterwards. When I accidentally passed by on the main street of the city, I found rows of chariots filled with items and people who looked agitated and frightened as I continued to look towards the palace, where a purple light seemed dim up there.
Most likely it was the foreign woman.
"ah! You're Zent, aren't you? Soldier Anderson asked us to tell you that the city has been evacuated but it still takes time until people arrive safely at the camp" said one of the royal soldiers on duty, saluting me.
"How do you know I'm Zent?"
"Your hair, it's not that hard to recognize" he answered without turning his eyes, then turned to the line that seemed to still take quite a long time to move and a sigh was heard "We've been like this for 30 minutes.
The reason for that was because we ran out of places in the campground and in the meantime a large area was built across the campground to accommodate the remaining residents.
But because it was too sudden, we didn't have enough time to finish the area that is still in the works. Inevitably, they had to wait until the trees were cut down for them to get a place"
"Why don't you ask them to leave the train?" Askaqua.
The soldier sighed again "We asked for it, but they didn't want to because their valuables were inside. Not wanting to make a fuss that would only lead to bigger problems, we followed their request after seeing the situation as possible or not"
"And you think the situation is possible? Celine the Tier 5 knight just got thrown out of the palace and you think that's possible?" I asked with a high tone, not expecting the royal soldiers turned out as soft as this "What do you think?"
"I'm sorry, but we're just following the commanding officer's orders" he replied slowly unable to look me in the eye.
"What's Gero? Is there a problem?" Asked a short blonde-haired male knight, walking from the direction of the gate was with his hands ready on the sword hilt.
The soldier in front of me shook his head, trying to convince his commander "There is no commander at all. The evacuation went well, I just explained the situation to Mr. Zent here" he replied, a little too loud and fast that it attracted the attention of several pairs of eyes.
The knight watched me from top to bottom, shuddered at the sight of the blood-soaked clothes then said "You are the man Celine mentioned?"
Oh?
"You don't deserve him"
I know it.
But hearing someone else say it, made my blood boil a little "We don't have time for this. They had to leave their carriage or their lives were in danger!" My insistence while watching the purple light on the palace that looks brighter.
"We're safe as long as we have Celine! And I'm here to protect them, too. None of it can be different as long as we're still inside the capital" he argued that made me really want to hit that cold, haughty face.
"You are more concerned with the ego than their salvation? Even Celine can't face him! You think these people will be safe? They will die under your 'protection'" I replied indignantly while trying to hold back the anger that was already at the top.
I'd rather go to the palace and find out what's going on there than spend time talking to the brainless creature.
"What are you gonna do? A burden to him?"
Suddenly from the direction of the palace, a bright purple light had shot upwards and moved towards here quickly. I put my shield forward, trying to protect those behind.
Not until the next second, a strong impact occurred, creating a large-scale earthquake that made me kneel unable to hold the balance.
The villagers ran towards the gate leaving their belongings hysterically, accompanied by screams and screams, no longer paying attention to the direction of the knights who were now confused about what to do, afraid to see the great power that was trying to penetrate the shield.
The commander pulled out his sword, deployed a bright blue mana on the blade and turned to me "I'll show you how the original strength of a Tier 5 knight" He then dashed forward.
He leaped out from within the shield and managed to make the figure retreat by the swing of his sword which emitted a huge blue energy, just as great as the sword Celine had only to be pushed aside by the woman.
Two pieces of blue energy reappeared forming the letter 'X' from the swing of the commander's sword that was avoided by him like facing a small child's attack with gazes constantly pointing at me.
