Erik was still faithfully waiting for Maura inside the room, it had been an hour yet there had been no movement from Maura to wake up. Erik again looked at the contents in Maura's room, until his eyes again saw something familiar on the table between Maura's books.
"Here's the keychain of the motor. So he took it off." It turned out that Erik had been paying attention to the doll that became the keychain of Maura's motor. Without Erik's permission to put it in his pants pocket.
"Mama..."
"So much pain?" Ask Erik. He went straight to Maura.
"Erik ?!" Pekik Maura was surprised. " He grimaced touching his forehead because he felt dizzy. He also looks around. " What happened to me ?" Asked while pressing the base of his forehead.
"You passed out, now drink up !" Erik helped Maura sit down and gave her a glass of water.
"Thank you..." Said Maura leaning against the wall of the mattress.
"If you feel better, take a shower. I'll get Della to help you, after that meal ." Erik stood up and walked out of the room.
Maura just silently stared at Erik's back until it disappeared behind the door leaf. He came back crying his mother's death was the second heaviest blow after losing his father. "Mama...." Slowly issue.
The door opened, Della's figure appeared. He came because Erik told him that Maura was awake.
"Still limp ? Or do you feel dizzy ?" Della approached her best friend.
Maura wiped her tears slowly. "Just dizzy. " The answer forced a smile.
Della's looking for Maura's change of clothes in the closet. " Let's take a shower after that you eat." The news helped Maura stand up.
Maura said without saying anything. He flushed his body with warm water, under the shower Maura again crying. Regretting today, why did he have to go to the office ? Why did he have to obey his mother to go to work? Why did he forget to bring a spare key ? Maura smacked her own chest. He vented his feelings under the water. Nearly thirty minutes in the bathroom, Della began to fidget because Maura did not go outside.
"Maura ! You're fine." Call Della while knocking on the door. He was so worried.
Door's open
Maura came out of the bathroom with pale lips and puffy eyes. Even so he still gave a faint smile to Della. "I'm fine." He then walked into the closet.
"Your clothes are ready, they're on the bed." Show Della to the bed. "I'll get you some food." The lead came out of the room.
Maura grabbed her clothes and went back to the bathroom to put on her clothes. He was only silent when Della asked him to eat, now he remembered his lunch box earlier. If he knew it was Sila's mother's last meal, maybe Maura would have eaten it since morning.
After fully dressed, Maura walked out of the room. His wet hair was wrapped around a towel, all eyes looking at him. It turned out that there were many neighbors in his house.
Rini's mother approached Maura and led her into Sila's mother's room, knowing that Maura wanted to see her mother. "How are you doing ?" Ask Rini's Mom.
"It's getting better ma'am, where's the pink lunchbox here ?" Show Maura on the table.
"Delivery to the kitchen is like Della." Answer Rini's Mother. He looked in wonder at Maura.
Without speaking again Maura immediately went into the kitchen her steps accelerated to quickly arrive. Arriving in Maura's kitchen looking for the food box.
"You're here ?! " Della was surprised as Maura stood behind her. "I just wanted to drop off food to your room, now eat ya. It's eight o'clock." Della put the tray of food on the table.
"Where was the lunchbox ?"
"It's here." Della took the lunchbox.
Maura accepted it, then opened the lid of the box to smell it. Still good and not stale, Maura took a spoon then scooped up the rice and fed it.
Maura cried, chewing on the cold food. Last meal of Sila's mother. The last dish he tasted was handmade by his mother. Maura will never again taste the delicious cuisine of the woman who gave birth to it.
Maura ate mixed with tears, Della beside him also joined in crying and embracing his best friend's shoulder.
"Control yourself." Della wiped her tears.
Maura's crying broke even more he could not continue eating. Maura sat down limp on the chair and bowed her head on the table. Erik and Dias watched from the middle room become unbearable. Whispering from nowhere, Erik stepped over to Maura and sat down beside her, not only did he also bring the weak body into his arms.
"Cry, let go of everything." Whisper Erik while rubbing Maura's shoulder. Della also calms her best friend. He gently rubbed Maura's hair inside Erik's arms.
...----------------...
Such nature gives strength to Maura to face her suffering. The weather this morning looks bright, in addition to his friends who came. Zevin and his wife were also present.
This morning Maura was no longer crying, she was more patient and accepted her destiny. He was also able to blend in with the mourners. There Della, Erik and Dias still faithfully accompanied him. Jo came in a hurry after taking the time to go home at dawn.
The ambulance has brought Sila's mother's body to the cemetery. In the hearse, Maura is accompanied by Della and Nazia. Erik and Dias were at the funeral. Then Zevin got in his own car with Yudha.
A few minutes later, the funeral was over. Some people have left that place. Not for Erik and his friends, they still accompanied Maura. Zevin, Nazia and Yudha also said goodbye
Long enough at the funeral, Erik invites Maura to come home. " Let's get home the weather's getting hotter." He stood beside Maura.
"You guys just go home, I still want to be here. Take Della too, she must be tired from yesterday to accompany me." Reject Maura. His hand was still grasping the ground mixed with the fresh flowers.
"You also come home, you must be tired..." Maura Sahut. Without taking his eyes off the still-wet mound of earth
"No rejection !" Erik's. The look in his eyes was so sharp that Maura did not look at him.
Dias as if getting a fresh breeze instantly pulled on Della's wrist. "Come home ! You need to rest. Your face is pale too...." Take it softly and smile.
Della nodded. "alright... We should also arrange at home again." He smiled back at Dias. Della is not out of thought with the Maura family who did not come.
"You two don't stay long. Look at the hot weather." Excited Jo stepped up to follow Dias and Della.
The scorching sun seemed to burn the skin, not the least Erik intended to leave Maura at the side of his mother's tomb. Even though the melt of sweat began to flood his handsome face. Erik shaded the hot Maura while he was willing to be hit by the sun.
Maura raised her face slightly upwards, she could not bear to see Erik's face reddish from the heat. Not wanting to be selfish Maura immediately stood up and said "Let's go home !" He stepped first.
Erik smiled faintly and nodded, then offset Maura's footsteps. No talk until they get in the car. Erik turned on the AC then unbuttoned his shirt to reduce his sultryness.
Maura grabbed the dry tissue and gave it to Erik. "Clean your face !" Then he turned to face outside the window.
Once again Erik smiled, then accepted the tissue. He rubbed his face from sweating, then grabbed the water bottle by his side and drank it until half was left. "You drink ?" The bargain to Maura.
"I'm not thirsty, thank you..." Reject Maura. He spoke without turning his eyes to the car window.
Erik breathed heavily, then started the car engine. They left the cemetery. The atmosphere in the car was silent for a few minutes
Erik glanced briefly at Maura who was staring straight ahead. "Sorry..." Said suddenly.
Maura looked to the side. "Sorry for what? There is no problem between us."
Erik took a breath and exhaled again. "The problem with the motor." Tweet slowly. The corner of Erik's eyes glanced at the reaction of the woman beside him.
Maura turned back to Erik for a moment and turned her gaze forward and said. "Forget it, I don't mind it anymore. I gave it back to you in good condition. Then the day if you want to give something to someone else especially that woman, you have to discuss it with Della. Everyone can see how you treat him, he is automatically your partner. So don't disappoint him. Della loved you a long time ago, whether consciously or not, but I'm sure you have feelings for her too."
Erik flinched, really ? Della loves him. Did Della have the same feelings ? But wait ! Does Erik still have that feeling, why does it feel different now ? Where's the crash like before ?
Erik's car arrived in front of Maura's house, where Dias and Jo arranged the tent and seats. Not only did the neighbors help as well. Maura rushed into the house her destination was Sila's mother's room. He went in and locked himself in there.
Erik put his foot into the house. He was still digesting Maura's words earlier. Unknowingly, he hit Della's body.
"You why? Oh my goodness Erik ! Your face is red. Wait here I'll make a tomato grater first." Della rushed to the kitchen.
Erik looked at Della's back. Really ? His feelings are still there. He fell silent and dropped his body on the sofa. Erik took a long breath. Before long Della came to bring a small plate containing a tomato grater.
"Lay down, let me stick this tomato grater."
Erik said his eyes could not see Della's face. He wants to convince his feelings now, is it still like before or not ? He lay down on the couch and let Della stick the tomato grater.
"Hey why see me like that ? You're in love with me ?" Ejek Della chuckles
Erik smiled without answering. After sticking the tomato grater, Della now wants to put the plate in the kitchen.
"Wait !" Hold Dias. She has been watching Della and Erik.
"Yes, what's wrong?" Della turned around and asked.
"That's what?" Show Dias on the plate in Della's hand.
"The tomato coating, earlier Erik's face was red perhaps by late in direct sunlight. You want ?" Obviously Della at once offers.
Dias. "I want to !" Pleased speech.
Della sat back on the couch. "Lay ! " Say it to his superior.
Dias lay down, Della began to stick the tomato grater. Dias felt a cold sensation. Erik who was still in his place looked at Dias and Della. She smiled why was the hot feeling she had when Dias first looked at Della no longer felt ?
...----------------...
In the evening everyone gathered at Maura's house, sending prayers for Madam Sila. The neighbors gave each other support to the beautiful secretary.
After the event everyone went back to their homes. Now there are only Dias, Jo, Erik and Della left. They all sat in the middle room. Erik's facial skin slowly returned to normal no longer as red as it had been this afternoon.
"Thank you for being there for me and taking the time to help with my mom's funeral. You must be asking why my family didn't come ? My dad and his family have been bad since. Because papa only has a half-brother. While my mom is from an orphanage, she does not have a close family anymore. Though there may be far away I don't recognize them." Maura's Story.
"Since you are now alone, can I stay here with you ?" Ask Della slowly.
Maura turned to Della and smiled then said "Discuss first with Erik. Even if your arrival in this city is due to his invitation, he is automatically responsible for you."
Responsibility ! Erik flinched with that sentence. It's true he has a responsibility to Della, for bringing her to this town. Is it possible now that Erik's heart is just a sense of responsibility no more than before? That's why she always put Della first ?
