Karen can only give up if her fate has to die at the hands of her husband. Karen could only smile while enduring extreme pain.

Karen tried to rebel but the energy and weakness of the lack of blood that kept coming out finally resigned and looked at the face of her husband who was very loved then closed her eyes.
