The initial stages of the plan have been successful. The two of them had managed to become servants at the Runaria House. As a waiter, of course they both do a good job and right, ranging from sweeping the floor, watering, cooking, etc. There is a lot of work to be done and both are looking for evidence on the sidelines of their work.
It's night time. The two discussed progress in finding evidence. Luckily both got the same room as the one who signed up on the same day. This makes both of them do not need the hassles of going to each other's rooms.
“How? Have you found any evidence, Elena?”
“Yes, there are some secret rooms inside this mansion. It's deep underground. For its access door, its existence is connected with the Host's room, Nana.”
One of Elena's psychic abilities is branching. He could see a place he wanted to see even though he did not stare at the place directly. It was not difficult for him to know something as hidden as a secret room. He only needed to comb through the entire mansion using this Branching ability.
“So right, the owner of this house is involved with Black Night Company,” Schwartz murmured.
“Still uncertain. I don't think he ever lied to his words. She was just a lonely girl. Indeed, he has expertise in doing business and managing the Runaria Company although online, but it is still too early to concern himself with the Black Night Company. He had never been to that basement and no one had been there yet. We still need to investigate this further.”
“And how can you know the location of the basement and others? Are you affiliated with the Black Night Company? From the very beginning I suspected you of your track record in the Trainer Association.” Schwartz looked suspiciously.
“Ap-What? I'm 100% not conspiring with them. What's so weird about my track record?” Elena's face was astonished.
“Of course it's weird. Your registration becomes a member with your glory days very close. As if you were strong from the beginning.”
“It was true. I was strong from the beginning. It's just that I've never appeared in public before. That's why I'm a bit of a tech gap,” Elena replied without dodging.
Schwartz stared at Elena. “You're not even evasive. Alright, for a while I will trust you as ‘not affiliated with them’. But that doesn't mean I think of you as a trustworthy partner. I won't give you much confidential information from the Association.”
“As far as you are. Anyway I have my own way of finding information.”
Their night talk ended there. The next morning they did their job as servants as usual. Only homework is done more professionally. The two could not mess up until they were expelled or had to find a more difficult way to complete the investigation.
This morning Elena delivered food to the Host's room, Nana Runaria.
He knocked on the door saying, “Excuse me, Miss. I brought you breakfast today.” In his mind, ‘This reminds me of when I was at Madison Mansion. Usually the waiters will take the food to my place. I never thought I'd be a waitress one day.’
“Log in!” answer a girl's voice from inside.
Opening the door, Elena looked at the figure of Nana Runaria who was still on the bed wearing pajamas. Her blond hair was still a bit disheveled but still charming, her eyes were bright green, and she had bright white skin. She's a really pretty girl.
“Good morning, Miss. I'll put food in here. Then I'll leave if you don't mind,” Elena said.
Elena smiled and replied, “You take it easy, Miss. It's my job to take care of all the necessities to look after this place. Also, the butler, Draka, was very good at guiding us. You just focus on your work.”
“Alright, then I will work hard today too!” he said with passion.
Elena turned around, about to leave the room. But before coming out he glanced at one of the paintings. He realized that behind the painting was a secret passageway leading to the secret room. But for the time being he would not go there right away, either there was too little time to do so or he would get a lecture from Draka. That's why he left immediately after.
Elena did the job faster today. The other servant who saw Elena's hard work was flabbergasted at Elena's speed. The reason for doing this was very simple, namely he wanted to browse through the secret room. Let him not talk, so he finished his job first.
And then good, as planned, Elena finally managed to finish her work several times faster than the clock should have. He then went to a room where no one was there, steering him to Teleportation.
Elena was not directly at the bottom of the secret room. He was right behind the painting in Nana's room. The place was a passageway with wooden walls and floors, still the same as the corridor within the mansion. He continued by walking some distance. Her steps were very quiet because even though it was invisible some people out there might still be able to hear Elena's steps and realize something was wrong.
Then after a long walk, finally the scenery began to change. The wall on the left-right side changed from the previous wood to rocks, as well as the floor made of soil. Elena's journey this time turned downhill. He could guess if his path had started to bring himself underground.
"Alright, this time it should have gone quite far," Elena muttered. "Come, Aya!"
*Zr!*
Elena's shadow widened. Afterwards Elena, Aya, came out of there.
The cat jumped on Elena's head and said, "(Huh, you finally called me too, huh. Do you know how boring it is to be in your shadow for a long time?)"
"Yes, sorry. I have nowhere else to hide you" Elena replied.
"(That's it. More importantly than that, was this already so much for fighting? To be honest, I feel like this place is really gloomy.)"
"Indeed. We are now underground. So if you already know, don't comment too much."
The two of them continued walking down the hallway. The scenery changed several times, from the previous rocky passageway and ground floor, turning again into fully shiny stone. Inside here it was also dark so Elena used her Pyrokinesis ability to light up their path. Then before long they got to the bottom, but ….
"I'd guess. You're a member of the Black Night Company!" peekit Schwartz's.
"Tu-Wait, this isn't what you imagined!" Elena said with a stammer. "How did you get here?"
