EX: A Story That Doesn't Come

EX: A Story That Doesn't Come
Chapter.3 (Are you okay?)

[Are you okay there?]

There was a faint sound of a middle-aged woman's voice from behind the phone. Right now a tall, black-haired man and an extremely dazzling cross-sectional face, was standing in front of the large window of an apartment unit. The morning sunlight that penetrated the window glass did not make the brown eyes narrowed.

"I'm fine, Ma."

[If your contract is over, Mama and Papa will be home waiting.]

"I've only been in town for two days and Mama's been calling me almost every time."

[Yes, Mama and Papa know, you accepted the project out of town because you avoided the matchmaking we arranged, didn't you?]

The man was silent, stunned for a moment staring out the window decorated with views of skyscrapers. At the age of almost stepping on the head of three, both parents Adrian as in the hunt for time to find him a prospective companion, again.

"Ma, I have to get to the location right now, I'll call Mama later." The man turned off the phone call and put the phone in his pants pocket. He breathed quite a long breath. Dodging, that's how it's survived so far. Survived all the years of solitude.

"Why do you feel at home standing there, come here" said someone from behind.

Hearing that voice, he turned from his position. Step towards the minimalist dining table available in the Pantry section. Enough for two single men who are living temporarily in a foreign city. He smiled his smile when he saw the friend and the assistant eat very greedy with a typical random appearance of waking up.

"What's calling your mom?" ask her with a mouth full of food

"Jon, it looks like I've been caught evading" he said, then sipped a glass of water in front of him.

"Ck, parental felling is indeed very strong, until when you will avoid ... Adrian, you better get married at the request of both your parents" he explained.

Adrian just fell silent without chiming in. Over the course of nine years, not much had changed from within him. The word 'ready' has never been said from the heart to start a commitment with someone, even if only to stop filling the void he is also still reluctant, the heart seems closed and locked tightly. Has that figure not been forgotten?

I don't know.

Sometimes Adrian cusses himself when the heart and mind go back to crazy because someone from his mass who just keep coming. Adolescence, being a household leader, is his biggest mistake. He regretted that he had ruined his own life and the life of a girl he no longer knew existed.

"Dian!" exclaim Joni while breaking the table. Make Adrian daydreams scatter instantly.

"You're just surprised!" upset mouth.

"You're always daydreaming when I talk about this. .. have you not forgotten that woman?" joni asked, squinting his eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"The woman ... the woman you told me about when we went to college," Joni said, then moved her body forward, "The Ex."

"You're crazy, why do I remember it again" said Adrian with his flat face.

Joni returns to her position, devours the remaining food and then returns to see Adrian, "I hope you've completely forgotten him, I'm sure this time the woman has become a housewife with three children, her body must have stretched and not as beautiful as before."

Adrian crossed his arms to the front of his chest, "You're better suited to be a gossip mama, than to be an assistant to a famous architect."

Joni stopped her activities and looked back at her friend seriously, "What do you mean, you married secretly, tell me who is your wife?"

"Based on b*ensek, I'm still normal!" exclaim Joni who looks upset because of the joke of the friend. They always do things together, so it is not uncommon for gossip to appear if they are same-sex couples.

"Hand, I wait for you downstairs" said Adrian without stopping his steps, he grabbed the door handle and stepped out.

From a different apartment unit. A woman who is honored as a renowned surgeon in the largest hospital in the city center. Women who always appear perfect in front of everyone, in fact, can appear disheveled when he is alone.

"I'll be leaving soon, it's not time for a consultation as to why the mother came so early" Luna said as she stepped inside the toilet, he stood in front of the sink with his phone still stuck to his ear.

[I don't know either, the mother went berserk wanting to meet you, just come quickly."

The phone call was eventually cut off. Luna put the phone next to the sink. He looked at his face from the mirror. The face of sleep deprivation is so obvious. Last night he came home from the hospital at around two in the morning for treating emergency patients.

"Look at these eye bags .. It looks like I have to do my own eye bag surgery," Luna muttered and chuckled to herself.

Do not want to be more crazy because talking with the reflection of his own face. Luna immediately grabbed her toothbrush. When he finished he took off his nightgown and stepped quickly towards the shower.

That's how Luna's life has turned around over the past nine years, like a robot that works endlessly. When he felt tired of the world, just by looking at the photos of his parents, he could get excited again.

~

Today Luna missed breakfast, because she had to go to the hospital immediately. He was constantly staring at the numbers on the elevator button. I think he wants to get to the ground floor soon. The mistake itself, why choose the thirty floor as a residential place.

3...2...1

Ting!

The elevator door finally opened, with Luna's quick steps walking towards the exit. Not forgetting he pulled his car keys out of the bag. Arriving at the front, he smiled as he saw a security guard bowing respectfully to him.

"Good morning Doctor" said the security guard.

"Good morning sir, sorry I was in a hurry," said Luna then stepped back to the basement apartment.

Not far from there. A man was standing, looking at Luna who was stepping on her back, moving further and further away in a hasty step. That person is Adrian. He was waiting for Joni to come down, but his sense of hearing suddenly heard a voice so familiar.

When he turned around, he could not see the woman's face. He could only see long hair that was unraveling backwards, stout posture, so proportional as a woman. But that was not what stunned him, but the voice of the woman who reminded him of someone.

Adrian tried to get rid of the curiosity and returned to his previous position. Adrian thought he was just hallucinating because Joni was talking about the ex. With both hands going into his pants pocket, he stared pusher forward. His heart and mind are crazy.

For nine years and I still want to ask, are you okay? Yes I must have gone mad, inner Adrian.
