Ephemeral: A Journey To Find The Meaning Of Life

Prologues

I am Luke Freud, the only son of a peasant couple who lives in a small village called Elwasch. My father was Ilgaus Freud and my mother was Lyana Freud. They both worked as farmers.

That day, I gave my parents permission to go play with my friends. While playing with friends, I found a rabbit lying on the ground and it looked dying. I took the rabbit home and asked my parents to treat it. My mother who could perform healing magic instantly cast her magic.

After the rabbit was treated, I saw him jump to and fro like excitement. My mother praised me and said that saving sentient beings is a good thing, because life is not eternal so we must take care and appreciate. Then I asked my parents.

"What is the meaning of life?"

My father smiled and replied.

"The meaning of life can be found by ourselves on a journey."

From that moment on, I always thought about the words my father said.

Right today I'm 15 years old. I celebrated it with my parents. When my father asked me what I wanted to do after this, I replied.

"I want to be adventurous."

My mom and dad allowed me to go on adventures. I prepared the things I needed to carry and some weapons to protect myself. After everything was ready I went to see my parents for a farewell. Mom was crying about parting with me, dad patted me on the shoulder and said.

"Go home after you find it."

I said "well yeah.". Then I stepped up to go and said "I'm going first, take care of yourself!". They wave their hands.

My journey starts now. I don't have a map to determine the direction of my journey. I will always follow my heart.

Following the path, I arrived at a town. This place feels very different from the village where I live. I asked someone what the name of the city was, and he said the name of the city was Halsberg.

"Please forgive me"

"Hey, how long have you not been paying? Huh!?, anyway I don't want to know, next week you already have to pay. Otherwise, I'll use a rude way, got it!?"

I saw a bar in front of me. Can you not?... I'm 15 years old anyway, right?.. But I what if my mom gets angry.... Ah, forgive me ma'am.

As he walked in, everyone inside the bar looked at me. Why should I look at me anyway?. I continued to step up and finally sat down on the chair.

"Want to order what young people? Just a glass of water, huh?"

This guy underestimated me

"I want a glass of wine."

He gave me a cup of wine. When I tried to drink it, everyone kept looking at me. I'll show you that I can drink this too.

I drank the wine easily. After drinking it my head felt a little dizzy. My view is a little faded. Aye? why is my body falling down?....

5 Hours have passed

"Just wake up, son? It's late, this bar's closing soon. Go home!"

I just realized that I've been unconscious for 5 hours here. I also walked out of that bar. If you remember, I haven't rented a place to stay here. There should be plenty of lodging in this city.

"I have to find a place to stay, there's no way I'm sleeping on the street"

Although it had not been a day, I had already felt different things that I had never felt before.

That was the beginning of my journey to find the meaning of life. Although there will be many obstacles in the future, it will not scare me. I will continue to do so until the end, until I find the true meaning of my life.
