We finally arrived at our destination, a palace where the royal family of Alfheim was staying. This palace looks much taller and more majestic than the palace in New Verdannia. Not to mention right in the garden behind him, the giant tree Yggdrassil stood firmly splitting the sky. Even though it was this close, I still could not see the end of the tree. I'm getting curious as to what the top of the tree is....
As our entourage stopped in front of the palace, some Elves in luxurious clothes with a mixture of gold and green and red robes greeted Princess Tiara. The Princess was helped by the ladies slowly descending from the carriage before walking towards the Alfheim nobles waiting in front and greeting them one by one.
I got off the carriage by attaching the Katana sword to my belt and immediately moved to secure the rear side of Princess Tiara with the other knights. Well, they don't seem to like being around me, but work is all that matters. There was at least Captain Blade standing next to me.
Muse gets the task of delivering the train to the cage and joins the squad. Luckily we each carried a radio to communicate over long distances. The headset we use is also clear so it does not attract attention.
After a few minutes of conversation, Princess Tiara was welcome to enter the palace. Montez and Jeanne were next to the Princess, respectively. I noticed Jeanne occasionally glanced at me, but I just pretended not to notice. I really wonder what that girl was thinking.
Does he feel sorry for me? Does he hate me?
Don't tell me he realized something from me.....
Heh, I think I think too much. There's no way a boy like him knows anything about me....
Aye, right?
I thought to myself for too long that time went by so fast. We arrived at the front door of the room that looked like a conference room. There were many people with various kinds of luxurious clothes standing in the entire front room, conversing with each other. Some had a glass of wine in their hands. Several waiters stood in several corners holding trays containing various drinks.
After poring through the entire room, my eyes then stared at the pair of blood red eyes of an Orc.
"Good morning, Princess Tiara de Finia. Thank goodness you look well" said the Orc with a smile. He wears a shirt and trousers suit (possibly the size of XXXXL) like a nobleman. A crown that looks like it was made of bone and bronze adorned his head.
"Hail Chieftain Xunag, it's good to see you back," Princess Tiara replied with a friendly smile as she shook her hands.
Despite having a large body and creepy long fangs, the nature and manner of speaking of this Orc looks like a wise old man. His fiery red eyes did not make a threatening impression at all. It is strange to remember what the Orcs used to be portrayed in fantasy stories and.ahem, Hentai.
He finished the drink in his glass before continuing the conversation. "If I may know, what happened? I was wondering why the group from Finia had not arrived yet."
"We had obstacles on the trip, but thank God everything can be overcome," the Princess let out a long sigh. He then shifted the subject. "By the way, how are things in Norsku now?"
"Thank God everything went well. All the chieftains were willing to work together and now we're starting to build a more solid defense force."
My gaze was then shifted from that Princess and Chieftain after someone called from afar.
"Hey, illegal immigrants!"
Montez was the first to stare at the man. His face looked very surprised.
"Hasan?"
I moved my gaze, seeing a tall man walking over. The black robe and the red turban he was wearing fluttered in the wind every time he stepped. His face, pale skin color, and brown hair look like a mixture of Arabs and Europeans. Maybe if I had to describe him in more detail, I would have to say he's quite similar to Zayn Malik.
But what caught my attention the most was that pair of green eyes. It looks like the eyes of someone who has fought against various enemies. Simitarnya that is sheathed on the waist also looks rather shabby, like it has been used for years fighting.
The man greeted Montez in a slightly lethargic tone. "Old time I can't see you."
"Other than your eye bags, you haven't changed at all" replied Montez with a grin. The two of them then shook hands like two friends who were long apart. "I heard you've been made Amir now."
The 'Arab' man let out a long sigh. "That title is stressful to me. I was confused as to what it was good to continue in the palace without being able to be free everywhere, but I did not feel good to refuse the Sultan's request. He has helped us a lot."
A couple of waiters came to us with trays containing a few glasses of wine. Seeing Blade, Montez, and Hasan take it, I also took a glass and thanked the servant. Maybe I'll just hold it as a formality, I don't really like to drink alcoholic beverages while on duty. B-doesn't mean I'm weak on alcohol, okay?
"Said someone who used to be a 'money slave'."
I started to not understand what the two of them were talking about, but there was no harm in listening.
"When did you learn to talk like that, huh?" Hasan replied in a contemptible tone.
"Come," replied the knight nonchalantly before gulping down wine in his clutches. "It looks like 'my chastity' is beginning to be tarnished by the rottenness of this world."
"Heh, you used to hate me, but now you're following me around like me" the 'Arabic' man chuckled then stared out the wide-open window. "Well, at least now the future of Fialka and our child-to-be is more secure."
"Well, congratulations then! What child? How many months is it now?"
"This is the first, now it's been 5 months anyway."
The man turned his eyes to me and Blade who had been standing not far behind Montez. The Knight Commander then took the initiative to introduce us.
"ah! This is my old friend, Amir Zain Hasan bin Al-Haitham. He had taught me a lot when I was a snot kid, "After introducing his friend, he switched to introducing Blade to the man. "This is the middle officer in the newly sworn in...."
"Charles Norris, nicknamed Chuck," Blade intertwines Montez's words while shaking hands with Amir.
He still uses that name....
"It's nice to meet you. Just call me Hasan."
"Hirasawa Kohei, nice to meet you," I introduced 'self' while bowing respectfully.
After the two of us shook hands, Hasan then told Montez who was drinking a glass of wine. "Oh yes, I also got the news that the Sultan was planning to match Prince Al-Fatih with Princess Tiara."
"Pff!" The Knight suddenly choked and spouted out his drink, making his friend laugh out loud.
"Hahahaha, just kidding!"
"You are!" The Grandmaster of Santa Whales turned his face away while blushing while the Amir smiled ignorantly. It's the first time I've seen Montez like that. Maybe my guess is correct.
"Actually the Sultan had wanted to match them first, but because of many obstacles, plus King Richard who suddenly fell ill, we did not dare to make a decision" continued Hasan. "The prince himself seems to have no interest in getting married either. After all Finia was already an ally of Mubarak through the exchange of science and witchcraft."
"If he were soon betrothed it would be with-"
"One of the daughters of the Shah[ Shah : The title given to the Persian/Iranian Emperor, or the one in Isekai to the Emperor of Nazarah
] Mohammed Reza Abbas of Nazarah, right?" Blade answered cutting off Montez's conversation.
The Empire of Nazarah was a closed state south of Mubarak, across the strait of Malkuth, on a new continent almost entirely covered in desert. Much is unknown about the country except the location and name of their capital, Abyatin. To my knowledge, they always shut themselves down for unclear reasons, and they never come to conferences like this. That's what Blade's borrowed. Fortunately, there was a Muse who was fluent in Arabic so we could translate it.
"To be precise," Hasan's facial expression became increasingly grim. His hand shook the glass of wine he was holding. "The secessionists and the clerics did not approve of the Cold War between Mubarak and Nazarah continuing."
"Aren't you sure that marriage will do you good?"
Hasan answered my question while laughing sarcastically. "I'm a hard person to trust others."
Our conversation stopped as someone ran over to us.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Amir Hasan!"
Said a young man wearing clothes similar to Hasan, who distinguished only a robe that contained a golden ornament and a crown that became one with a sacrifice. He also wore a pair of glasses, giving the impression that he was a short black-haired and thin-bearded young man then turned his head towards Montez and immediately shook his hand.
"Ah, Grandmaster Montez! What a coincidence you're here! I've heard many stories about you! I'd really like to meet you!"
He looked at the Grandmaster with sparkling eyes. It does not fit well with its rather delicate appearance. By the way, I was really curious how the arab prince kept the beard without ruining the appearance. I also want to be deported from Saudi Arabia for being too handsome....
Ah, forget it!
The blue-haired knight looked surprised. "E-uh? Story...about me?"
The prince nodded. "I heard it from Amir Hassan."
"Hmmm, it looks like someone has a new fan~" Goda Hasan while smiling ignorantly, making Montez grumble in his native language.
"Snippek."
"Oh yes, Grandmaster Montez, I have a gift for you, "A sword that is shorter than the one Montez uses. A sword with a handle and a gray sheath. "please be accepted."
The knight pulled the sword out of its sheath. How surprised the knight after seeing the distinctive patterns on the sword dagger. "I-this, right?!"
"Yes, the sword of Damascus. Swords made with techniques that have been secret for centuries. The ingredients are only available in Mubarak" Prince Al-Fatih replied with a proud smile. I don't really understand swords, but I've heard of them. The sword that is said to be able to split stones and tear silk easily. I wonder where they got that name.
"But this is a Premium sword at a fantastic price!"
Montez continued to try to reject the gift, but the prince insisted.
"It's okay, in a sword palace like that there are thousands."
It seems like some things remain the same. Well, sultan mah is free.
I looked around again, looking around at whoever was here. In addition to representatives dressed as Arabs and Western Europeans, there are also those who wear the typical attire of Eastern Europeans, Chinese, and even those who look like they are from Southeast Asia. There is so much I need to know about this world.
I also occasionally observe them talking to each other. Their smiles and laughter look fake. They look so good even though I feel like they won't hesitate to pierce each other. It's a common thing in politics, so I always avoid that dirty thing.
Hmmm, that's right? Jeanne with.
The one in front of Jeanne was a tall-looking Elf man, likely taller than me. His long golden hair was unraveling. He was also dressed like other Alfheim nobles, but looked more luxurious in gold armor and a sword with a silver and green sheath. He was like a prince from a fairy tale.
Jeanne looks very close to him, like a fan meeting her idol. She sometimes had a beautiful smile and a sweet laugh when the man told her something. His face looked very happy looking at him....
There's nothing wrong. The man was not at all seen threatening Jeanne or Finia's representative, but....
I feel like eliminating it immediately. My hands were shaking and clenching hard. My index finger is itching to shoot that flamboyant face.
Wh why?
Am I...jealous?
Huh, it's impossible. I've dated a few times and sometimes saw some of them cheating on me with Jody, but I never thought about killing that fucking Jody-Jody.
But if this is jealousy....
Putting the still-full glass on the table, I kept thinking about this very disturbing feeling.
Actually, Jeanne, what is it to me? Just friends and allies? A fella? Or maybe....
"Lieutenant," Blade whispered from behind, making what I was thinking scatter. "Your business later. We carry HVI[HVI: High-Value Individual, High-Value Individual. Mention for important people (some sort of VIP) in the military.]. Open your eyes wide. Threats can come at any time."
"Good, sir."
Focus, Wand! Focus up! Your mission is to determine the future of the world and the safety of those on board the missing plane. Your mission is more important than anything!
Montez then shook hands with Hasan and Prince Al-Fatih then walked towards Princess Tiara who was chatting with an old man. From the man's clothes which consisted of a red robe covering a knight's armor and a crown, I could immediately tell that he was a king. Two knights also stood nearby, listening to the two leaders chat.
The blue-haired man approached them. He then informed the two leaders of the country with great courtesy. "Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your conversation, but I'd like to inform you that the conference is about to begin."
"Oh, okay. I'm sorry, I seem to be too busy talking" replied the old man with a laugh. "Thank you for reminding me, Grandmaster Montez."
"It's good to help, Your Majesty Arthur," replied Montez, bowing respectfully.
Her Highness....Arthur's?
The King drank the wine in his hand and put the empty glass on the next table.
"We continue this conversation next time yes, Princess Tiara," King Arthur said with a smile on Princess Tiara. The Princess returned her smile before the King turned around and called her two aides."Bedivere, Lancelot."
"As per your orders, Your Majesty."
Answer the two knights in unison. The two of them then flashed a smile at us then escorted the old king into the conference room. They both looked more friendly than the knights of the Order of St. Whales.
"Mr Princess," I glanced at Jeanne who was walking towards us. So he finished talking to that guy. He told Princess Tiara with a smile. "Come, we've been waiting inside."
The Princess nodded and returned Jeanne's smile. We immediately moved his escort to the conference room.
While walking escorting Princess Tiara, I saw Montez approaching Jeanne, saying something to her. I stood not so far away from them that I could hear what they were talking about.
"Jeanne, were you talking to Prince Frey?" Ask the Knight.
So the Elf man was a prince? I thought he was just an ordinary noble, but it turns out....
"Yes, I haven't seen him in a long time" Jeanne replied with a sweet smile, as if remembering what they were talking about. I didn't expect him to have any royal acquaintances, let alone a neighboring kingdom. "What's up, Chief?
"It's okay. This is your first time attending an interstate conference. Next time be careful when talking to people here, we don't know when they're going to stab us in the back" Montez said in a flat tone.
"What's? K-sister Frey can't possibly do that kind of thing! I've known him since childhood. It's impossible to do so low!" Refuse the girl while looking into Montez's eyes deeply. So, they're some kind of childhood friend?
"Then he served neither Finia nor the cathedral. He could have been an enemy, "The Grandmaster glared for a moment at his subordinate, warning him. The girl realized she had almost crossed the line and looked down embarrassed. "If you get the wrong word, leaking state secrets or knight order secrets to the enemy even though it is not intentional, it is the act of a traitor. You know the punishment for a traitor, don't you? Captain Jeanne Pitts?"
"Burned.at the stake," muttered the girl. Traitors and deserters are usually sentenced to military prison or at worst shot dead. But until it was burned alive....
"Therefore, beware, Jeanne," Montez continued without looking away. A worried and fearful expression was drawn on his face. "Executing my trust subordinates is the last thing I don't want to do."
"However, I'm sure Brother Frey won't do anything bad! I can tell he's a good guy!" But the pink-haired girl insisted.
"Remember my words, Jeanne."
Jeanne just kept her head down and nodded silently. Actually, what was between him and that Elf prince? I'm getting curious.... Do they have a hubunga-
No. gabe. I can't interfere in their personal affairs.
Damn, why do my thoughts become like children? I'm 25 years old, for fuck's sake.
Inside the conference room, there are many chairs arranged in a circle, just think of it like the UN assembly room in general. Every few rows of seats, there was a long table with the name of each participant's country plastered in front of him. Most of the seats are filled by representatives.
We walked towards the row of seats for the Finia delegation. Some knights of St. Whales were already stand-by there, checking each seat so that nothing could harm Princess Tiara or the other members of the delegation. The representatives of Finia consisted of only a few people. In addition to Princess Tiara, Commander Montez, and Jeanne, there are several members of the royal senate who also come with us and employees of the Fina ambassador to Alfheim.
I occupy the position to the left of the row, at the very back until the wall is behind my back. This was to prevent ambush and so that I could clearly see the entire room and Princess Tiara, and especially the exit. Call me paranoid but I don't feel safe if someone's behind me. It seems like Blade has the same thought. He was standing at the back, just on the right.
Just to my left was 1 to 2 meters away, a Dark Elf in knight uniform stood tall near the seats for the Beklagia Confederate delegation, a country whose majority of inhabitants are Dark Elves and human half-animals. Originally the country was part of Alfheim before it broke away ten years ago. Me and the knight looked at each other before looking back ahead, watching around.
"Hey, what's wrong with you? Very serious, "asked Elisha who stood before me. I returned the curious gaze of that green iris.
"No, I just don't like being in a room with a lot of people."
"Why?"
"Well, I have a bad experience" I replied with a sigh. I took advantage of the current situation to tell him to stop asking. "The meeting will begin soon. Watch the Princess."
The Elf Archer looked at me worriedly before looking back to the front.
The originally crowded room slowly began to quiet until only a coughing sound and the sound of the chair was slowly shifted.
I used this opportunity to look around. From the tables and rows of seats that were separated, there were 13 countries that sent delegates. All of them wear clothing designs that are quite different from the others. It is likely that each country has a different culture.
A moment later, a long blonde-haired Elf woman walked to the podium located in front of Alfheim's desk while carrying a piece of paper. The woman was very similar to that Frey, they were both like twins. She wore a long white dress and a small crown on her head.
"What I glorify and honor the Lord of the Kingdom of Alfheim, His Majesty the King of Njord," said the woman, starting her opening speech while staring at an old Elf sitting in the front row of Alfheim. After the man nodded, he then continued to greet the audience with a smile.
"I respect all leaders of countries in Uressea and staff. It is an honor for me, Freya Alfheim, to deliver the opening address as peace ambassador and speaker at this year's meeting.
It is also an honor for the Kingdom of Alfheim as it has been entrusted to host the conference this year. We see this as a testament to our commitment to participate in world peace efforts and advance civilization in Uressea. I would like to thank all the members of the Uressean Continent for coming to Fraegligr to participate. On behalf of the government and all the people of Alfheim, I say welcome to Alfheim."
All the participants who were present clapped their hands. After the applause subsided, the Elf woman's facial expression changed from originally smiling happily to serious. He raised his tone.
"Gentlemen, ten years have passed since the 'War of 10 years', the deadliest war in history ended. The bloody conflict that involved most of the country in Uressea and took the lives of thousands or even millions. Peace treaties have been signed, the economies of each country have begun to improve, but the damage, loss of life, and suffering have already occurred," Who told them to start a war? I am also sure that those who are here have never felt the pain of war while the victims, military or civilian who died became statistical data and the survivors will feel the pain for the rest of their lives.
"We have to make sure that terrible thing never happens again. However, the ideal of achieving a peaceful and peaceful world we cannot achieve as long as injustice, unbelief, selfishness and hatred are still ingrained."
Speak injustice and selfishness, but the rulers regard the people as nothing more than cattle and are always selfish, and as long as people have feelings, hatred will always be there. Speaking is easy.
"Therefore, I invite the ladies and gentlemen to cooperate with each other, to reach our common goal, which is a peaceful and peaceful world, and to work together, for the sake of advancing civilization and for the future of our posterity."
The entire audience clapped their hands after hearing the speech, in contrast to me who almost laughed.
"His words are so sweet, huh? You High Elf Noble," said the Dark Elf knight next to me in a sarcastic tone. We came face to face, saw him smiling cynically. I then replied with a small laugh. I don't know what problem he had with High Elves, but I can agree with him.
Politicians everywhere, especially those who have never felt it hard, can only sell words. Few really think of the people, but they will definitely start forgetting the people when they are at the top.
"Wand, listen carefully to every point they talk about. Who knows if anyone can be useful to get to know more about this world," Blade ordered over the radio. I pressed the answer button twice as a 'understood' answer'. I refocused myself on the meeting.
After the opening speech, the leaders and their respective staffs of trust began the meeting. I listened carefully to what they were talking about. The first thing they talk about is economics. The world's economy is driven by gold, iron, and especially a natural resource called 'Mana Rock'.
I don't know what kind of thing it is but it's very useful to make the best quality weapons and armor, medicine materials, and also as the base material of the lights. From the information I got in the city library, the Mana stone came from the remnants of the magic power of a deceased person. It is said, after their body and spirit are separated, the spirit will release the magic powers of the person before they ascend to heaven. The remnants of this power then petrified and hardened.
Because of this, this stone is quite difficult to find and is only found in several areas in Uressea, one of which is in Finia which is the largest exporter of Mana stones in the world. This is one of the reasons Finia can become one of the largest countries in just 10 years.
Back at the meeting, the representatives began to discuss determining the price of Mana stones per gramma. Gramma is the way people call the gram unit in classical times. The discussion went quite smoothly even though there was a debate because the price was getting higher. For Finia, this is beneficial.
The next language concerns science. The one who started the discussion was of course the representative of Alfheim. They are known for their very pure science and traditional witchcraft. Because of that purity, they have the strongest magic. In contrast to the modern Mubarak and continues to grow every time. The discussion went quite smoothly even though I felt that all the delegates, especially from Alfheim and Mubarak, seemed to be hiding most of their discoveries and knowledge from others.
Next is social and political issues. I don't really understand the titles and levels of the nobility in the middle ages so I'd rather go through this.
Discussions resumed and even became increasingly difficult when the issue of slavery was raised. In contrast to Finia, in most Uressea countries slavery is still legalized so that the number of pro-state representatives is more than the counter. Finally, the topic was closed without further settlement. I heard Elisha standing next to me gritting his teeth. Both of his hands were clenched and trembling like he was trying to hit someone.
"Elisa, are you okay?"
"I.it's okay...." That answer did not convince me at all. "It's not a good time to talk...."
I nodded slowly and refocused on extracting the information from this meeting. Then, a person sitting in the seat of the Alfheim aristocrat stood with a piece of paper in hand. Apparently, the guy that was with Jeanne earlier. He looked very dignified and I also felt that he was the cleanest man among the nobles of Alfheim. It cannot be compared to rats in Parliament. However, every time I saw that person, I felt very upset. This frustration grew even more when I saw Jeanne staring at the young man with sparkling eyes, full of hope.
"Thank you for the time given. Now, I'll start discussing the topic I want to raise...." The Elf man paused for a moment and looked at the entire representative of the country who was beginning to focus on him. "That is, the problem of the civil war in Fuso that has lasted for three decades and cost hundreds of thousands of lives."
The staff began to mutter with each other. The long-haired man then continued his words. "This is the worst armed conflict since the Dark Ages. Other countries have signed peace treaties to prevent another major war. However, Fuso continued to churn. Are there any of you who would like to express your opinion?"
"Please, Prince Lucius Von Asthern," the prince rose from his seat and paled before starting.
"Thank you for the time, Prince Frey. As you already know, the situation in Fuso is very complicated. Not only 3 Factions who fought to seize power there, but more than that. I'm afraid that if we take rash steps and get mixed up in their affairs, this will cause disaster" replied the brunette. From the look of the yellow eyes behind those glasses and the expression on his face, I can guess this person very carefully.
"So let's just let the explosive wick burn out, will we?" The Elf man replied in an annoyed tone. In that pair of violet eyes, there was absolutely no ulas or other intent in it. I don't know where I know from, but I do.
I found myself drowning in this debate.
"Let me add, Prince Frey."
The next person, a long black-haired knight sitting next to King Arthur of Albion raised his hand then stood up. He looks a little older and more experienced than Montez. He was one of the knights who was with King Arthur when talking with Princess Tiara earlier.
"As we know, the Fuso Civil War was caused by the Sutoku rebellion that overthrew Emperor Konoe. And I suspect that there is a group of people who deliberately let the turmoil there in order to exploit the source of the Mana stone by backing one of the factions."
The man glanced towards the representatives of the Asthern Empire with a disdainful smile.
"I strongly agree with the opinion of the Knight Lancelot" said the prince of Asthern. In contrast to Lancelot, Lucius' facial expression was flat and very calm. "But the civil war would not last long if only one faction had the support. The other factions must have gotten the same support. Am I wrong?"
The hot aura in the room was getting more and more aggravating. The bodyguards from Asthern and Albion were ready to attack each other.
I stared at Princess Tiara who had an anxious face. Montez suddenly got up from his chair.
"Girls, ladies and gentlemen" said the Commander of the Order of the Knights St. Whales echoed in the courtroom, halting any debate and discussion that took place. "This is not the time to argue and throw rocks at each other. Whatever happens in Fuso we must as much as possible quell the upheaval, not flush the oil into the growing fire."
Some representatives were seen to be furious listening to the blue-haired man's words.
"I have worked with priests and religious leaders in Fuso, as much as possible to seek peace. However, the leaders of the three major factions, Emperor Sutoku of Kamakura, Queen Tamamo of Muromachi, and General Shuten of Kofun, all refused to negotiate and as seen now, refused to negotiate, they're not at this meeting."
I glanced at the Emperor who whispered something to Prince Lucius. I don't know what they're talking about, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Montez's answer.
"All we can do is pray that the conflict there subsides and take precautions so that the war does not widen," he took a breath and looked at Princess Tiara who was smiling at him. The Knight then continued, "Right now, Finia has placed a division of troops in Asuka province, the border area with Muromachi. By doing the same, maybe your countries will avoid chaos."
The representatives of each country again muttered to each other. I was also surprised he told me so blatantly about something that should have been a military secret.
"Grandmaster Juan Montez, are you seriously blatantly informing the movement of the Finian forces and exposing the military secrets?" Ask the leader of the Asthern Empire. The bearded man's sinister gaze was only underestimated by Montez.
"Oh, there's no need to worry His Majesty Emperor Octavius, it's not a military secret," replied the man as he returned Emperor Octavius' gaze with his maroon eyes. The knight smiled cynically. "Again, we, the Knight Order of Santa Whales will only act if Finia is not attacked first. We are not aggressive wolves. We are but servants given strength by the Father to protect the weak."
That fellow....Montez's....
I had thought that he was just a knight with shining armor like in other fantasy stories. Apparently, he's more than that. I feel like he's no ordinary person. He could be a threat if he is not being watched. I stared at Blade who was standing on the opposite side of the staff row of seats for Finia's representative. He returned my gaze with an understanding expression while nodding.
"How about, Prince Frey? Are you satisfied with Grandmaster Montez's answer, or is there a rebuttal?" Speaker Freya asked the Elf prince, who was likely her twin brother.
The Prince sighed then smiled while answering. "Alright, thank you for your reply Grandmaster Montez. The cathedral hall of Santa Whales does not wrongly designate you as Grandmaster."
"You look too high at me, Prince Frey," the knight replied with a smile before returning to his seat.
Suddenly, my headset let out a crackling sound, a sign someone was calling me over the radio. "Wand, meet me outside. Tell me permission to go to the restroom."
Blade Turns.
I pressed the answer button twice. Then I whispered in Elisha's ear.
"Elisa, I'm going to the restroom first."
"You know the place?"
"Yes," No.
The Elf girl nodded. His facial expression looked very worried. "Okay, be careful."
I then walked out of the room. In the outer corridor, I saw Blade waiting for me. He asked me to walk down the corridor. He glanced around, making sure no one eavesdropped on our conversation then asked me in a low voice.
"Do you know what I want to tell you?"
"'Montez could potentially be a threat?'"
"really. In addition, we also need to keep an eye on Asthern and Albion. The movements of the two countries are very suspicious. They could be a threat to the core forces."
"Understand me" I nodded in understanding. It took me a few seconds to realize the last sentence Blade said. "Core squad?"
Blade's facial expression became pouting. "While there's no notification yet, I can guess what's coming next."
Come to think of it, what this SAS captain said was highly likely - no, it will definitely happen. Nature is still beautiful, resources are widely available, and many species of fauna and flora have never been found before. Which country is not in love with this world?
"Back to the talk, can you go to the city to scout this area and buy some stuff? The details are here," Tell Blade while handing him a small piece of paper. I took the paper and put it in my pants pocket. "For the reconnaissance, let me know tonight."
"Well, sir, I'll work on it," Blade suddenly stopped walking.
"Hajime."
I stopped stepping, listening intently to what Blade was going to say. Whatever it is, it must be very important because he called my real name. While in Area 51, he called me 'Shinohara' several times, but this was the first time he called me by first name.
He approached me and said in a soft voice. "One more thing, I understand what's going on between you and Jeanne Pitts, but remember....If our mission is complete, we'll get the hell out of here. We have never been in this place or this world. Don't get too attached to the people here."
What he said is true. Special forces are moving in secret. I myself believe that if our mission had been completed and we were repatriated, the documents describing our mission would have been locked in a safe for years, or perhaps burned to ashes.
That's because, officially, the GREEN Task Force never existed and Operation Catalyst never happened.
But it's very hard for me to leave and forget everyone here, especially Jeanne.
Sighing deeply, I answered the English man's letter. "I'll remember well."
After that short talk, we immediately rushed back to the conference room.
The conference was completed right after we got to the front of the conference room. After, I release the armor and put my sword in the barracks that have been provided. I went around the town of Fraegligr to execute Blade's orders, scout the area and buy some stuff. I wandered around in a business district so crowded that I was dressed like a medieval civilian in a leather cape that did not look flashy.
I stared around me. This place is really crowded and I don't like it. I feel uncomfortable walking alone.
I...fear?
Maybe, but every time I touched Tanto's handle and my gun –which I both installed hidden on each side of the waist– the feeling instantly disappeared. I should have brought someone....
Blade is on business with Montez and Princess Tiara while Muse is ordered to move things. Blade also allowed me to take people around, but Elisa, Xenous, Ingrid, and the others were also busy with their respective tasks.
I thought about taking Jeanne for a walk at once to apologize for what I said at the time, but....
I wonder what Jeanne is doing right now, and that Frey. Where they go....
Ah, forget it! I can't be framed by unimportant emotions.
However, willing to try as hard as I can still not-
"Hmm?"
My mind was turned to a three-story shop by the roadside. An alchemy shop. I feel like there's something useful in there. Looks like my sixth Indra is reacting back.
As I entered the store, I saw all sorts of equipment ranging from alchemy tools, books, magic wands, potions, and potions, until the various explosives are neatly arranged at each counter that exceeds 3 meters in height. I went around the whole place, trying to find something that caught my attention. After being traced, the area of this store also turned out to look wider than I expected. I could have been lost in this place.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, I looked back, seeing a white-haired Elf girl dressed as a witch in the Harry Potter movies descending from the second floor while sitting on a broom. I was amazed by his ability
"Whoaah!" Perhaps because he could not keep his balance or because of something, he tumbled backwards, landing very smoothly on the first floor. "Thou shaw!"
The girl stroked her head while crowding in pain. I walked up to him, maybe I could help him. However, he immediately put his hat back on and stood up. She smiled while hiding her pain.
"Welcome to Phantasma! A-a-there can I help you with?" The phantasm? That's the name of the shop? Well, it kind of reminds me of a super anime.
"A-ah, I want to take a look at the equipment," While scratching my head, I thought what I wanted. This store seemed to sell a lot of unusual things. "I need a bomb that can be used without harm, like a smoke bomb."
"B-well, over here, sir."
I followed him and drove me deeper into the store. I occasionally looked towards the front door, making sure that it stayed there and that I wasn't stuck here and was then subjected to witch trials. I'm always on my guard but I don't remember when I got paranoid like this. Maybe because this place reminds me of something....
Huh, forget! I thought too much about my paranoid feelings until I didn't notice the shopkeeper's astonished gaze.
After a while, we arrived at a row of shelves where various bombs were displayed. There are a lot of explosives ranging from bombs with rope axes, smoke bombs, to other types that I do not know. On the wall there is also an inscription in Old Norse that may be read 'Awas! Explosive/burned goods' or something.
While looking around, I was captivated by one of those bombs. A small silver bomb with a rope axis. The bomb gave off a carbon-like odor and the smell of burnt wires. I took it from the counter and cradled its weight. About half a kilogram.
"What's this bomb?"
"That's Ljosbrotsjr, Light Destroyer. Made from dark element magic, this bomb is able to bind the power where the monsters are light elements. It was really very useful to hunt in a high-class dungeon full of powerful monsters," replied the witch girl at length. Binding power where light element. Sounds like a very rare thing....
"How much?"
"Only 10 iron coins for one unit," the shopkeeper's reply spontaneously left me deeply shocked. Iron coins are the second lowest of all coins - the lowest being copper coins.
"It's cheap, isn't something like that supposed to be sought after? Does this also work on target people?"
"I-that's because monsters with light elements are few. Moreover, this has absolutely no effect on people even though they have the light element."
Even so, this bomb really caught my attention. There is no harm in buying and testing it yourself. Who knows the alchemists in Finia knew how to modify the bomb into a mini flashbang, or even an EMP grenade[EMP grenade: Electromagnetic Pulse, ' he said, grenades that can emit energy waves that can make electrical energy errors (shorting) so that there is damage to any object that uses electricity (electronic devices). Until now, EMP grenades may still be limited to discourse among technology experts.]. The price is cheap anyway. "Alright, I'll take three."
It just so happened that I was in a store like this I decided to buy everything Blade asked for here. I took the paper out of my pocket and read it. "Um, I also need a poison antidote, phoenix feathers, epsom salt, Yggdrasil mineral powder, orchid flower extract, gastric acid of predatory plants, slime residue, black keys, and.....testis unicorn? Could you please get me 100 grams each?"
What the hell is he doing?
"Okay, I'll get it. Please wait a minute at the cashier!"
The girl immediately ran rushing to get what I asked for. While waiting for him I looked around at the book displayed at the counter near the cashier. Just look around because everything is written in a language that looks like the language of the Nordic countries (I can't tell the difference).
After looking around for a while, the witch girl returned with my order placed entirely in a glass box and bottle. I checked all the boxes, made sure everything was right and paid for it.
I understand why Blade bought the alchemy raw materials here. It's much cheaper than New Verdannia. Maybe because in Alfheim there are many flora and fauna that are the source of these materials.
"Thank you! Coming back!" The shopkeeper waved his hand. I smiled back and left the shop.
Okay, buy gear already, reconnaissance area....Looks like I've circled the whole city and recorded an important point.
All right, it's camp time
"Hey, you!"
Shouted someone behind me, followed by a few steps of iron shoes on a path made of stone.
"Hmm?"
Before I looked back, a group of knights pulled and dragged me into a small alley. They pushed me until I hit the wall.
What the fuck?
"How dare you hurt Miss Jeanne! Feel this!" I didn't get to say anything, a punch hit my heart.
It's a mistake I didn't wear armor to the city. The punch of the gauntlet instantly made my heart ache until I fell down, having trouble breathing. The first thing I saw was 5 pairs of iron shoes. Looking up, I realized who attacked me.... The Knight of Santa Whales.
I groaned as hard as possible so that oxygen could get back into my lungs. I rested my body with both hands, trying my hardest to stand up, but I was unable....
"So this thing, a magic flintlock that can shoot a barrage," One of them, a blonde-haired Elf with a big smile clasped my gun and tried to pull it out of the holster. I can smile even in pain. I can guess what will happen. "Can't....plucked?!"
I've guessed. The Holster I use is equipped with a lock button system so it will not be easy to detach.
"What magic are you using?!"
"No magic, you're too weak...."
My ejek was trivial, even though I realized that it was like digging my own grave. The pointed ear gritted its teeth and kicked me until I had to fall back to the ground. Ah, goddamn....
"How dare you!"
Damnit....To fight even if I won't win. They're wearing armor and armed while I'm? I just brought a bag and a bomb I bought. If I use a gun, it will attract attention. Not to mention I would definitely be hanged if I was caught killing my own 'colleagues.
Shucks indeed.
I have to think of a plan....
"Who's weak now, huh?!" Bump one of those 'knight's, followed by his friends while kicking me constantly.
"Without those magic weapons, you are nothing compared to us!"
"And you also claim to be knights of the old world. Boasting also has its limits of knowing!"
"I have to tell Miss Jeanne about this so she knows that you are just a bunch of weak people who have no self-respect!"
"He doesn't deserve to spend time with cowards like you!"
I tried to protect my whole body from their kicks, even if they were not fruitful at all. I could only groan in pain and beg. "T-please, stop...."
"Oh yeah, I just remembered! He had also tortured and killed a prisoner of war!" Call one of them to the other. These bastards seem to want to kill me....
"really that? Huh uh?!"
The pointed ear 'help me' stood up by pulling my collar and then beating my temple until I staggered and fell on my stomach. With great difficulty I lifted my body again with both hands, trying to get back on my feet. I could feel the blood in my mouth. Shit, my gums must be bleeding.
With the alley wall as a pedestal, I managed to stand back up. Even so, my heart is still very sick, like there is a blockage of oxygen into the lungs.
I glanced out the alley. A lot of people just watched us from outside the alley. Yes, they were just watching like they were watching a Barongsai show in the Chinese city. No one tried to help me or at least tell the authorities....
Although the world is different, the rotten thing has not changed at all, huh?
"Your actions have humiliated the order of the knights of Santa Whales!"
One of them threw a sword that landed right in front of my feet. I set my breath back and stared back at them, unsure of what they wanted.
"If you feel strong, lift the sword and face me" cried him as he drew his sword, a blue and white cross-shaped sword. "People like you are obliged to be humiliated. For the sake of Miss Jeanne's pride!"
I took the sword and put up the horses just like I was at the cendo. I can't use this sword. A western sword that is double-edged and wider is very different from a Japanese sword that has one eye and a smaller but thicker dagger.
This fellow....Edward's? If I'm not wrong. He looks very strong. Especially considering he was the Captain of the Griffin cavalry squad or something. It is unlikely that I can win a sword fight with him.
"They're going to fight?"
"The young man will die."
"I bet 100 silver coins for that knight!"
They want to see a fight? Okay, I'll show you the real fight.
"Feel this!" He took the initiative of storming, running while activating a magic attack.
Holding the middle of the sword, I slightly stuck the tip of the sword into the ground diagonally like hoeing with a shovel. Then, with a bit of a magic attack, I gouged out and threw a handful of earth from the tip of the sword into Edward's eyes, making him lose sight.
"Amghhhh!" Using this opportunity, I kicked his body until he was pushed backwards into two of his friends. Fighting in a narrow alley like this turned out to provide an advantage. I threw the sword I was holding towards the other two knights who looked like they wanted to ambush me. They immediately retreated avoiding the sword while I ran to save myself. Only a fool would be willing to face off against 5 fully armed knights head-on and think he would win.
Master Sun Tzu[Sun Tzu: A Chinese general, military strategist, and philosopher who lived during the late Zhou Dynasty (770 - 476 BC). He is best known as the author of The Art of War, a book on military strategy and tactics that has served as a guide in many countries today.
]ever say 'If the enemy is in a stronger position, dodge' and 'Pretend to be weak so that the enemy is overwhelmed with arrogance'." I just need to escape and attack them back when they're not ready.
"Stop him!"
"Surge, motherfucker!" I shouted as I pushed the crowd of citizens outside the alley violently like a rioting Hooligan. Some people fell down and stepped on because of me. Who told them to just watch.
One of them groaned with a familiar voice.
"Yeah!"
I stood staring at a pink-haired girl sitting on the ground whimpering in pain.
"Jeanne's...."
"Stop him!" The screams surprised the girl.
Jeanne then stood up and pushed me behind her. He used his gauntlet to brush off the sword that was pointing at me. However, the attack was too strong to hit Jeanne's upper arm. Seeing who was the one who was holding back his attack, the knight along with his companions stood by.
"Miss Jeanne?"
The girl gritted her teeth while holding onto her injured shoulder. I saw blood begin to drip and more and more radiating, soiling the white uniform he was wearing.
At that moment, I was overwhelmed by anger.
Jeanne..bloody....
How brazen they are!
I'll kill....
I'll kill them all!
