People will not know how they have corrupted the world by their behavior....
Since the beginning of time, humans have continued to shed blood and hurt each other. States, rulers seek to expand their power to enrich themselves, the state, and the people, at the expense of others. Although civilization was growing, the law of the jungle remained in effect. Conflict is like everyday food. Weapons are constantly evolving.
What about those who died and suffered from conflict? Joseph Stalin once said, "the death of a man is a tragedy. However, the deaths of millions of people are statistical data".
I think it's got a point.
But now, with the development of civilization and defense technology, the earth has entered a period of peace. Yes, 'peace period'. 'Peace' between countries today is like putting a gun to each other's faces, threatening to shoot the trigger if there is something. However, even that was not able to stop the 'small' scale conflicts that often occur. Large countries can still colonize and suppress small countries, even indirectly. Politicians fought with each other in peace forums for bigger pieces of pie.
Do we have to scare each other, line up troops on the border, threaten each other with nuclear weapons for the sake of 'peace'? Is this the only way to achieve peace?
Right now, maybe that's quite effective in suppressing global-scale conflict, but how long will it last?
Many people want a peaceful world, where there is no war, no bloodshed, and everyone lives in harmony without division. A Utopia like heaven.
If if such a world really materialized, does that mean....weapons are no longer needed? Is the army no longer needed?
Armed forces are the type of agency that has existed even before humans know writing. Its members are trained to use weapons to do whatever the government commands, especially to protect the country. They join the agency for a variety of reasons, ranging from financial reasons, a sense of nationalism and patriotism, protecting their loved ones, or even looking for opportunities to kill.
The armed forces were formed because of potential external threats. They are trained to deal with and eliminate such threats. Trained for war, for killing. If there is no longer a threat to the state, are they no longer needed, and then dissolved?
However, to me, the real question is.whether Jieitai[ Jieitai = Also called 'Japan Self-Defense Force', was the Japanese armed forces after the Second World War. However, unlike the military in general, the JSDF is not officially an armed force. This is due to the laws of article 9 of the Japanese constitution that prohibits the use of military force.] is the armed forces? We are trained and treated like an army. However, to me we are nothing more than the security guards that are given tanks and warplanes. But....
Oh yeah, instead of hearing me blabbering indistinctly, how about you sit back and listen to my story?

This is the decisive battle that determines the future of the Kingdom of Finia.
Down there, a few hours ago, there was a beautiful forest. The trees are growing well. The variety of wildlife available makes this place a favorite hunting spot for adventurers. I still remember when I walked through that forest months ago….
However, now all that was left was barren land and hundreds of acres of trees burned into charcoal. Smog covered most of the forest remnants, contaminating the originally cool air. The thick smell of smoke made me raise my veil and allow the safety goggles not to be flickered by dust. Even at high altitude, I could feel the heat of the remnants of the forest.
“I hate the smell of napalm in the morning…. Smells like soft feathers baked Joker,” Sahut Eyebag pissed on radio.
“Hah, ironic,” The Joker replied with a snort.
The Griffin rider I was riding commanded the lion-bodied eagle-headed creature to slightly swoop down, lowering its flying height.
Behind the smog, I saw more clearly the 2 sides of the troops involved in the blood-filled melee battle. The pile of corpses grew more and more mountainous with each second. The clink of metal and the explosion of magic continued to be unpretentious. A grim, horrifying, alien sight considering the battles in my home world were fought by shooting at each other from afar, sometimes followed by grenade throws and artillery showers. However, the sound of screams and screams still gave me goosebumps, reminding me of Luminia and Afghanistan. Explosions also occasionally hit me like an RPG[Rocket Propelled Grenade: a general term used to refer to an anti-tank weapon without a pushback (recoilless) fired from the shoulder, and firing a warhead rocket.] and IED[Improvised Explosive Device: A type of bomb that is made and placed as unusually as on a roadside to attack a convoy.], the scourge most fearsome for all forces.
One side of our —allied team— wears a light blue uniform while their opponent is in a black uniform. The two sides fought equally, charging at each other and urging their opponents. However, no one chose to retreat.
“30 seconds!”
Hearing the warning from Blade over the radio, I mounted the magazine to my modified Type-89F assault rifle and cocked it, putting a 5.56mm bullet inside. After making sure my rifle was ready, I grasped tightly the handle on the saddle. Although it has not landed, my face is already wet with sweat, slightly fading the face paint. Around me, there were dozens of flying creatures in the form of Griffins and Hippogriffs. My teammates also rode on the backs of some Griffins.
“Wand!” Suddenly the Muse sitting behind me patted my head covered by a boonie hat. I looked back, seeing Muse grinning while giving a thumbs up. The two of us smashed each other's fists, before hearing the griffin we were riding.
“My task got here! The rest is up to you! Good luck!”
Some of the Hippogriffs around us made a turn then flew away, lunging towards the group of Wyvern dragons that were heading here. The two types of animals then crashed and pounced on each other mercilessly. Riders also thrust spears at each other and cast various magic to help their mounts. The hippogriff still in formation tried to guard us and attack the approaching Wyvern. It was a tense and strange dogfight in my eyes.
Meanwhile, Griffin who brought us landed perfectly in the part of the forest that was untouched by fire and still had green trees left. Muse and I got off Griffin with my team on the other Griffin. The Griffin rider tried to imitate the respect of our hands and flew away with their squadron. I turned the assault rifle safety lever, switching from ‘ ⁇ ’ to ‘3’.
“Come move. Line formation. Keep a distance of 5 meters,” My orders on my five subordinates. We then moved through the forest in one row, keeping a distance from each other so that if it was hit by an explosion, all would not die.
We continued down the forest, walking towards the point we had to guard. In the distance I could hear the noise of the battlefield where the order of the knights of St. Whales clashed with the enemy. I'm strengthening my grip on the assault rifle. I tried to fight my fear of the dense forest, staring at every place, making sure there were no enemies.
After about a minute's walk, we entered the burned forest area. My feet stepped over the barren land, leaving a trail clearly imprinted. The heat of the air made me sweat even more.
We finally reached a low rocky hill near the waterfall, a place where we had to keep watch, he said, wait if the enemy ground cavalry will come from across to attack our allied infantry who are now engaged in battle with the enemy infantry. Most likely they will pass around here because the depth of the river is quite shallow and the width of the river is not too wide. Keeping your friend safe, that's our mission.
I stared at the river in front of us. I really remember this place, when around it there are still various flowers and green plants and not polluted by fragments of charred tree trunks burning. The air is no longer cold unless it is hot and full of smoke. Damn, this sight is truly heartbreaking.
We immediately took a hiding position behind the remaining tree trunks and mounds of land, pointing our weapons down the hill. Don't forget to keep your distance from each other.
“Shit….This place looks more like Vietnam than Isekai.” Muse commented while shaking his head as he looked around. Maybe he thinks the same thing as me.
We kept watch in silence, until the noise of tens of kilometers behind us sounded clear enough. I focused my vision forward, waiting for the enemy to come. Breaking this silence, Whopper asked. “By the way about Vietnam, have you ever heard...errr, Hanoi Hannah?”.
I answered without moving my eyes. “Ya, the Vietnam war time radio broadcaster was ‘ right? I know, especially the words ‘How are you GI Joe’ on American soldiers in the forest...” I imitated the words of the academy with a shrill voice, making the others recite a grin. “Then say something about communist propaganda..with a sigh.”.
“Iya, right,” Ask Whopper again. “How do you think about that, lieutenant?”
“Honestly, not a proud fap-fap ingredient,” My flat answer caused all to laugh.
“Then what fap-fap material does it boast for you, Iceman?” It was Eyebag's turn to ask me.
Muse made a fake coughing sound. “Holy virgin girl maybe?”
The laughter of the entire squad exploded after hearing that nickname. These guys.no bored-the boss mocked me.
“Before you guys,” Grumble me on them. I then contacted Blade, our captain by radio. “Alpha, here Bravo. We've arrived in position, replace?”
“Understanding Bravo. We will help Finia's troops,” Blade replied. He sounds a little excited. “It looks so festive here.”
After waiting for a while more, I heard the sound of the roaring troops coming from afar. In the distance, we saw dozens maybe hundreds of cavalrymen with flying armor coming.
“I thought they were coming,” Sahut Sandman while cocking his submachine gun.
“Hold,” My Order. We wait for them to get closer.
When the cavalry reached the riverbank and began to cross, I shouted an order. “Shoot!”
Simultaneously, we pulled the trigger, showering the enemy with hot lead. The entire cavalry was jolted as the sound of the automatic rifle roars. Their horses neighed in fear. At about the same time, dozens of projectiles hit their bodies and mounts. One by one the group of cavalry knights collapsed. The dying scream echoed loudly despite being muffled by the gunfire.
“AAHHHH!”
I squeezed and released the trigger every time I aimed at the enemy, feeling how the coil of this rifle hit me on the shoulder, followed by a burst of 3 bullets and then saw my targets falling from their horses.
Behind this crowd, I could hear Sandman and Eyebag screaming in excitement at each other. “Ha! Really as many as my 18th birthday!”
“Happy birthday, muh nigga! Don't get shot in the face!”
My team started to target the enemy in the rear row who tried to escape. Although some managed to escape, the number was not much because there were enough that we killed in the opening attack. Not to mention the effective range of our weapon is 500 meters so many are incapacitated before escaping. Crashing towards us is also impossible because it is in a high and rocky place.
I realized that several witches and filled enemy shooters were attempting to retaliate against the attack. Some archers and shooters managed to fire their bow, crossbow, and musket. Everything's off.
“Everything! Target archers and witches first—” I immediately opened fire on one of the witches who was casting spells then targeted important targets that could threaten us like witches or archers.
From behind the holographic binoculars I used, I looked at the terrain, saw how my squad killed— no, slaughtering them one by one. I even saw an archer hiding behind a horse carcass being killed by 3 members of my squad who were both after him, putting dozens of bullets in his body.
However, one of the enemies wearing a magician robe escaped my sight. When I aimed at him, he was done chanting his magic. A reddish-black energy shot towards us.
“Mantra magic!” I screamed as I ducked, waiting until the energy hit the ground rocks in front of us, almost hitting us.
I rose from shooting at the bastard's head straight away until his formless face was hit by 556, satisfying my desires.
While shooting at the rest of the surviving enemies, I heard Eyebag sigh in pain. “Ah! Fuck!”
“Oi! You are okay?!” Shouted Sandman behind his SAW shots. I looked at Eyebag who was inspecting his entire body. The uniform he wears is dirty going to ground.
“I'm fine,” answered the Delta Force operator while holding his assault rifle back and shooting. “Badness!”
I changed my magazines and shot back at the enemy mercilessly, focusing on those who tried to escape or hide behind horse carcasses with open heads and bodies. It was easy for me to finish them off, let alone a distance of less than 200 meters. The rest of my squad continued to spew bullets from their weapons towards the enemy who was only a handful.
This is not a battle, but a massacre. I know this is a little immoral, but my other side says that these actions are justified, after all they are enemies and will definitely do the same if in our position. I didn't realize I was smiling funny when I saw 3 of them bouncing when the Whopper fired a grenade launcher.
“Stop shots!” Screeched me. Slowly my comrades stopped their fire.
I got up and watched the zone down there, seeing the destruction we were doing. Dozens of corpses of men and horses were strewn about everywhere. Blood splotches re-coloured their armour. Some floated in the river, changing the color of the water to a deep red. Many of the bodies had holes all over the body, and even amputated parts. A slightly less wearing sight.
“Woo-hoo! That was fucking awesome!”
“Fuck yeah!”
“Haha!”
“Too ez for me!”
The cheers and laughter of my comrades were bustling at the back, congratulating each other. They pat each other on the shoulders and heads. I took a deep breath, ordering them to move.
“OK. Now—”
Suddenly, Blade called me. Panic was heard behind the transmission. “Bravo! Something unexpected just came out!”
“Alpha? Alpha, what's up?!” Askme. However, there is no answer.
Suddenly I heard a screech from the air. We all looked up into the air. Smiles and laughter disappeared after seeing what was coming.
“I-it!”
Big dragon... Chinook helicopter-sized, escorted several wyvern-sized ‘standard’. That...enemy air cavalry? How bis—
We immediately ran. Occasionally it spun around to shoot at the Wyverns and the giant dragon's eyes. “Bravo, split! Split up! Find shelter!”
The 556 bullets were enough to kill a horse-sized Wyvern, however, not for the thick-skinned giant Dragon. The creature roared and gaped upwards, gathering black flames in its mouth.
“Aggghhh!” I heard Whopper's scream, saw with my own eyes how 2 Wyverns pounced on the poor operator.
“Whopper!” I aimed at the Wyvern and pulled the trigger, before a black fireball shot towards us and then exploded into the ground near me.
The explosion blew me away. The moment I landed violently, my entire strength disappeared. I can't stand up. My ears are buzzing hard. My head feels heavy. The whole joint refused to move. Even opening your eyes and breathing can be very difficult.
It all happened very quickly….
Faintly, I could see one of my comrades burning with a fireball. He tried to roll on the ground, however, the fire extended into the bag of grenades, making its contents explode, spewing fragmentation in all directions, and killing him instantly. My other subordinates continued to fight the dragon horde, even shooting anti-tank rocket launchers.
No splinters hit me, but I don't care anymore…. If I have to die now at least I die in a frenzied battlefield, medallions and promotions waiting at home, instead of a silly death being hit by a truck or struck by lightning, haha….
However, I will probably regret it for having gone before the girl….
Gradually the pain in my body faded away, I felt a pair of iron gloves grasping my armpits and dragging and resuscitating me on the tree trunk. I found myself faintly staring at a complete knight of armor. The knight in grey armor with blue complexion knelt down, drop by drop of water falling from the chin of the helmet he was wearing.
“Wand! You're not okay?! Answer me! WAND!”
I chuckle, of all the personnel here, of course he came.
My holy maiden's....
