This morning the weather was bright, making Rio feel relieved. He can sell after school. Yesterday the trade did not run out and only sold a few because the rain suddenly fell did not give a pause for Rio to sell.
Rio who is 9 years old has to work hard to help his parents. The life he had to live was not easy. Rio has to go to school, after school Rio has to sell. His father worked as a rickshawman, while his mother was sickly. Can't do much activity.
“Rio's father leaves for school ya”
“Yes be careful nak”
Rio went to his mother's room to say goodbye.
“Bu Rio departs yes, mother rest let quickly recover”
“Yes son, you be careful. Do not be too tired of selling later if tired can not focus on learning”
“Iya bu”
Rio left his mother in the room and walked all the way to school. At school, he sat down and waited for his teacher to come.
The school is quite simple, students there are indeed from families that are wealthy. Including Rio, he is grateful that he can still go to school not lose his youth to continue learning. His dream is very high, if big later he can become a police officer and can boast of both parents.
Rio is a good and hardworking boy, he understands the situation of his parents. He felt sorry for his father who had to work desperately to finance his school and also had to take care of his mother.
After school, he went home to change his clothes and take his wares. Rio selling on the side of the road, he was looking for a place that was rame so that the sale could be sold.
“Tissue... Peanut” shouted Rio
The item he sold was not his, Rio took it in the store then resold it. Fortunately, he did not get much, but he was still excited. At least by selling he can ease his father's burden, Rio can also buy new shoes for his father. The shoes his father wore were not decent, at the bottom of many were hollow. He was sorry and worried that his father's leg was sick and could be injured because every day he had to pedal a bicycle, especially his father had to walk on the asphalt, if the daytime would feel very hot. It can make his father's feet hurt and burned asphalt heat.
Due to Rio's tired of taking shelter for a while under the tree, who knows if anyone bought his wares.
“How much is the deck?” said the man dressed in a neat suit, it seems like he is a rich man.
“This one is 3 thousand, if this one is 7 thousand pak” shows the tissues.
“I take this one 5 yes dek” “5 yes sir? This pack a total of 35 thousand pak”
“This is his money deck” “No money fit sir? I have no change, my trade has not sold from last” he said
“Ya no longer need to change” he said passed
“Thank you sir” he said half yelling
The man gave a thumbs up while smiling.
Since it was already late afternoon and the sun was starting to not reveal itself anymore, Rio returned to his house. He was afraid that his mother and father were worried because he came home at night, the distance from where he was selling to his house was quite far, so it could take up to an hour.
“Waalaikumsalam” replied the father
“Dad eaten?” ask Rio
“Already son, you have eaten”
“Not yet, this Rio bought rice earlier but only one pack, because the money is not enough. Have you eaten yah?”
“Your mother had eaten earlier, dad also bought rice and we ate together. You better eat first, fear stomach pain if you have not eaten”
“Yes yeah, I went to the kitchen first”
On the street Rio bought rice to eat with his father and mother. He only bought one pack of rice because the money from the sale was not enough to buy two packs. Sometimes his father bought rice to eat with his mother, if Rio did not buy rice from the sale his father would buy it from the rickshaw.
“After eating, shower immediately then we go to the mosque yes, soon maghrib” said the father
“Iya yah” Rio replied
Rio and Rio's father had finished bathing and was well dressed to perform the maghrib prayer in the mosque. Every maghrib they always go to the mosque to pray together with neighbors and residents in the village.
On the way to the mosque, Rio and Rio's father said hello to the people who will pray to the mosque. They chatted while walking to the mosque.
Adhan congregated many residents who came to the mosque, when the mosque maghrib was always crowded with worshipers, because the residents had returned from their work place. Rio's father, Rio and the citizens are performing congregational prayers.
“Rio, let's go home nak” take the father
“Iya father” Rio replied
Rio and his father went home.
Arriving at home, Rio went straight into his room to study. Rio is a diligent and studious boy, in his class he always gets the first champion. Although he was busy because he had to work after school, sometimes his body felt very tired at night, all that did not reduce Rio's spirit to keep learning. His ideals are high, although he realized his father could not be able to finance him high school but his spirit to be able to reach the ideals never dashed.
He wanted to see his parents proud and in his old age did not have to bother to slam bones to make money. He promised himself that when he grew up, he would work hard so that his dream could be achieved. Rio's only child so his father and mother are very fond of him, despite not being able to give what Rio wants, his father and mother always give affection to Rio.
Rio never asked his father anything, because he understood and realized that his father was very tired of pulling rickshaws and the results were not much. Enough for him to eat alone was very grateful, moreover his father had to save for Rio's education expenses. It was not expensive, because Rio school was not for elite people, so the cost was not too burdensome on his father.
But Rio's father also has to pay for his sickly wife and if he has relapsed his illness must be hospitalized and the cost is not cheap for him. If you have to be hospitalized, he must have money 500-900 thousand. But if only check 100 thousand is enough.
Finished learning Rio immediately slept because his body aches and his legs feel pain due to walking far enough.
The dawn prayer rattled Rio up and headed to the bathroom for a bath and ablution, to perform the dawn prayer. At dawn Rio rarely congregates to the mosque, because he must be prepared. If his father wakes up first, then his father will cook but if Rio wakes up first then Rio will cook.
Mandiri since childhood has made him accustomed to doing the work of a woman, because since his mother is sick Rio and his father who has to take care of all the needs of the house. Tidying up, sweeping, washing dishes or clothes was familiar to Rio and his father. If the rice and the side dishes were still there then Rio would cook, if there was no Rio would have to look for the yam first for breakfast the next morning.
