Once upon a time there was an old woman who was very, very happy and always full of joy, despite having almost nothing, and she was old, poor and living alone. He lived in a small cottage and supported himself by helping his neighbors deliver orders, he only got a little food, a little soup as his wages. He was always working and always visible.
One afternoon, in the summer, as he walked home, smiling as usual, he found a large black pot lying on the ground!
"Oh God!" he said, "This pot would be a great place to store something when I have nothing to store there! Unfortunately I have nothing! Who put this pot here?"
Then he looked around hoping that the owner was not far from there, but he saw no one there.
"Maybe this pot has a hole," he said again," and that's why this pot was thrown away. But this pot would be great if I put a flower and put it in my window, I would take it home."
And when he lifted the lid and looked inside. "Geez!" he shouted with admiration. "Full with gold. How lucky I am!"
In the pot he saw a pile of shiny gold coins. At that moment he was so stunned and did not move at all, then he finally said
"I feel really rich now, really rich!"
After he said these words a few times, he started to think how he could bring the treasure to his house. The pot of gold was so heavy to carry, and he found no good way other than to tie the pot to the end of his shawl and pull it all the way home.
"The day will soon be dark" he said himself and began to walk. "Ah.. now it's better! because my neighbor won't see what I bring home, and I can be alone all night, thinking about what I'm going to do with this gold! maybe I'll buy a big house and sit in the fireplace and enjoy a cup of tea and not work like a queen. Or maybe I'll bury this gold in the garden and keep a little of this gold in my old teapot, or maybe .. wow."
Now he felt tired from pulling the heavy pot, paused to rest, and turned to look at his treasure.
And he saw that the pot did not contain gold, but only a pile of silver coins in it.
"I thought that the pot contained gold! I may be dreaming. But this is luck! Silver is less troublesome, easy to use, and not easily stolen. Gold coins might bring death to me, and with this stack of silver coins..."
then he walked again thinking about what he should do, and felt like a rich man, until finally he was exhausted again and stopped resting and looked back at whether his property was still safe; and at that moment he saw not silver, but a pile of iron!
"I thought the pot contained silver! I must be dreaming, but this is luck! how delightful. I can sell and get a penny for this one scrap metal, and one penny is easier to carry and manage than gold and silver. Why! because I don't have to sleep restlessly for fear of being robbed. But a penny can really be useful and I should have sold the iron and become rich, really rich."
then he walked again thinking about what he should do with his penny later, until once again he stopped resting and looked back at whether his treasure was still safe; and this time he saw nothing but large stones in the pot.
"I thought the pot contained whistling! I must be dreaming, but this is luck! because I have long wanted a big stone to hold my turnstile open. What a good thing to have luck."
Woman and So-Secondhe became so anxious to see how the stone would hold her gate open, she finally walked on until she arrived at her cottage. He opened his gate, turned around to remove his shawl from the huge rock lying behind him. But what he saw was not a large stone, but pieces of stone.
Now he bent down and removed the end of his shawl, and - "Oh!" Suddenly he jumped in shock, a scream, and a creature as big as a haystack, with four long legs and two long ears, had a long tail, and, kicking into the air while screeching and laughing like a brat!
The old woman looked at him until the creature disappeared from sight, then finally the woman laughed as well.
"All right!" he said with a laugh, "I'm lucky! Pretty lucky. It's great to see ghosts with your own eyes, and be free of them too! Oh my God, I feel so happy!"
Then he walked into his cottage and laughed all night imagining the incident and felt how lucky he was today.
