Died Ahead of Marriage
77. Papi's refusal

"I can only say, will try to make your brother happy, from today onwards."

Bagas dived into Amar's eyes. In it he read a different sincerity than before. Finally, Bagas threw away his face and escaped from Amar's arms.

"All right! Let's see how it will be. If you still make my sister cry, I won't hesitate to take Sister Anna away from you."

Bagas tries to take Anan along, but the boy refuses and chooses to hold onto Amar. Feeling rejected, Bagas immediately headed into the house. Inside, Anna was crying in her mother's arms.

"What's important, you've been here m, Anna. Finally, we meet you again."

Then, their attention was turned to the two figures currently standing at the entrance. Anna rose to release her embrace on Renata's aging body. "Mommy, Papi ... My husband and son are here too."

"HUSBAND?" Sugiono's baritone voice broke the atmosphere that had become blue due to the presence of Anna, who had disappeared without news since ten years ago.

"Yes, Pi. We're still the legal husband and wife."

Sugiono put on a grim face. He walked towards Amar and looked at the boy who was with him. Anan was shocked at this changed man's gaze, but his countenance was still fiercely sharp. That look made Anan hide behind Amar.

"So, you're still in marriage?"

Amar swallowed the saliva, because he was afraid of the look of his wife's father. He began to guess what kind of advice would be given to him. Because, they know Amar is still in this city and are seen sitting quietly without thinking about how the fate of their son who is somehow lost to nowhere.

"Yes, Pi."

"Who's that, Pa?" whispered Anan who was hiding behind Amar.

"Come on!" Anna reached out her hand to Anan, hoping that Anan would continue his halted steps.

Anan glanced towards Sugiono. To him, the grizzled man looked extremely frightening. Fearfully, Anan inching moved to hold the mother's hand.

"Introduction dong, same Opa?" edict Anna.

Anan, who was already scared, preferred to hide, this time behind his mother's body.

"Why hide?" Anna became furious because of this child's behavior.

"Grandfather is scary, Ma. Grandpa was grumpy. Anan's scared."

"But Anan is scared, Ma."

Sugiono noticed a mistake in his attitude earlier. "Grad ..." He felt a little guilty for making his handsome grandson afraid.

"Bapi wants to have a one-on-one talk with Amar in the study. Make sure your son doesn't eavesdrop on our conversation."

Sugiono glanced at Amar giving a sign of eye contact so that Amar followed in his footsteps. Amar nodded and they turned to the location of Sugiono's study, in this house.

Arriving in the room, the atmosphere felt increasingly tense. There, there are only two people.

"So, why did you let my son just walk away? Did you forget what I said ten years ago?"

Amar bows his head. She still remembered all of her in-laws' advice on how to behave in the household and as the head of the family. But the reality is different. Amar had already lost Anna before he took this command from his wife's father.

He felt very embarrassed, plus he was self-conscious, because he could not keep his promise as a real man.

"Sorry, Pi." Amar bows his head.

"You should apologize to Anna. Not to us!"

"If that one, without Papi saying anything I do" said Amar.

"Then what do you want to go to this house?"

Amar joined his palms. "Let us marry again, Pi."

Kening Sugiono. "Whatchu mean? Didn't you yourself say that you're a legal husband and wife? Why do you have to marry again?"

Amar could not bear to say that Anna was actually pregnant before they were married.

"The marriage we had was not serious, Pi. So, we asked for permission to remarry and this time we committed to take it more seriously." Amar tried to explain it, but the awkward feeling made his tongue a little to convey in a good way.

"Oh, does my child deserve to be unhappy? You think marriage between you is just a game. As for you to be a surrogate husband to our son, can you do as you please? So, what do you do again? No need!"
